Zenit krever gigantbeløp for juvelen

Det blir svindyrt for den klubben som ønsker å sikre seg ballkunstneren Andrej Arsjavins tjenester.


Den russiske elegantens klubb Zenit St. Petersburg krever nemlig store summer for ham. Arsjavin ønsker seg bort, spesielt til Spania, og etter storspillet i EM ytret flere storklubber interesse.

Særlig Arsjavins yndlingsklubb Barcelona. Katalanerne la mandag inn et bud på om lag 120 millioner kroner. Men det var ikke høyt nok, var beskjeden fra Russland.

- Dette kommer til å bli en veldig stor overgang. Zenit vil helst ikke akseptere et bud på under 240 millioner kroner. Andrej vil selv ha 30 millioner kroner i året, sier spillerens agent Dennis Lachter til avisen Daily Telegraph.

Storklubber som Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter og Valencia skal alle være svært interesserte i spilleren. Arsjavin har tidligere sagt at han helst vil spille i Spania.

CARLISLE COUNTDOWN

United boss Gary McAllister is preparing his players for part two of the Play-Off semi-final showdown with Carlisle United.

After losing the first leg 2-1 at Elland Road on Monday, United head for Brunton Park on Thursday knowing victory is a must if the promotion dream is to stay alive.

The squad were back at Thorp Arch on Tuesday for a light session, and were training on Wednesday ahead of the trip to Cumbria.

Carlisle are protecting a one-goal advantage, but United have lost only twice on the road this year and travel in confident mood.

"It's going to be exciting up there," said the manager.

"They are the home side and they have to try and protect their lead. Are they going to try and score?

"They'd probably have been happier taking us up there with a 2-0 lead."

United, who will be backed by 1600 fans at Carlisle, beat the Cumbrians at Elland Road in April, but suffered a first league defeat of the season at Brunton Park back in November when three home goals ensured a 3-1 reverse under Dennis Wise.

"I believe we played well in the first half up there and they played well in the second," said the manager.

"There's a lot at stake on Thursday. There's two attractive sides trying to get a place at Wembley.

"I feel we're capable, and the game has to be played with a bit of thought. We'll go there looking to win.

"The boys have had plenty of rest, they had a warm-down, and we'll go about things professionally."

The second leg comes just 72 hours after the first meeting and after a frenetic opening to the Elland Road clash, both sides will face a challenge keeping the pace.

The United manager also has an additional worry after Jermaine Beckford, who hadn't played for a month, was replaced after less than hour of the first leg.

"The fact the turnover is quite quick will mean there will be tired legs come the last 10/15 minutes at Carlisle," added McAllister.

"Jermaine's a bit sore, but evryone else is fine and we're picking from the same 19/20. I felt Jermaine was just starting to feel it a bit."

Doors open at 5.30pm and hot and cold food will be served. Admission is free.

Leeds United Academy are holding a series of trials and skills courses for young players wanting to impress.

The first is a two-day open trials and skills course at Knottingley on May 27 and May 28.

The purpose is to scout for players for the Academy and teach technique. The course is staffed by Academy coaches, and the last one of its kind, produced 15 players for our development centres.

The second course in May is an inner-city open trial held in conjuction with the David Young Community Academy.

The purpose of this course is to find players for our Academy, and any successful players will be invited to join our shadow squad or development centres.

The final course we are currently enrolling for is an open trial/coaching in conjunction with Saint Quens FC in Jersey.

The course, run by Academy coaches, takes place on July 23 and July 24.

Dougie Freedman ble i dag utnevnt til månedens beste spiller i Coca Cola League One for april.

Leiesoldaten fra Crystal Palace var meget god i forrige måned og scoret tre mål på seks kamper og var med på å bidra i sterke seiere mot Doncaster, Leyton Orient og Carlisle.

De andre nominerte var Bournemouths Jo Kuffour, Nottingham Forests Lewis McGugan og Swanseas Guillem Bauza.

Alan Sheehan ble i dag ilagt en tre kampers karantene for det direkte røde kortet han pådro seg mot Yeovil Town fredag kveld.

Den irske venstrebacken ble sendt i dusjen etter 65 minutters spill etter en urutinert tofotstackling på hjemmelagets Lee Peltier på Huish Park.

Dette gjør at leiesoldaten fra Leicester må stå over kommende lørdags kamp mot Gillingham og begge playoff-semifinalene.

Andy Hughes er favoritt til å bekle venstrebacken, mens også Darren Kenton kan være aktuell.

Gary McAllister kan også hente hjem Ben Parker på lån fra Darlington. Parker fikk kun en kamps karantene etter at han også ble utvist i helgens kamper.

Den øvre delen av East Stand kommer for første gang denne sesongen til å bli åpnet når Gillingham kommer på besøk i ligasesongens siste hjemmekamp.

Leeds United skriver på sin offisielle side at avgjørelsen ble tatt i dag etter at klubben har opplevd massiv etterspørsel etter billetter til denne kampen den siste tiden.

Salget åpnet i dag morges og 4000 billetter ble da revet bort på 12 timer.

Kampen spilles lørdag 3. mai kl. 16.00.
