WARD TO TRIAL DUO
Carlisle boss John Ward has confirmed he will again run the rule over trialists Lewis Smith and Gavin Rothery early next week.
The duo were both given the chance to impress during Wednesday's 1-1 reserve-team draw with Burnley.
Middlesbrough defender Smith, 18, and Leeds midfielder Rothery, 19, have now been pencilled in for another second-string outing against Bury on Monday as Ward assesses his squad strength.
"They are both young lads, but we're happy to take another look at them," said Ward.
"They played well [against Burnley], so we'll see how they go in the Bury game on Monday afternoon."

Leeds Make New Signing!
LEEDS United have made an exciting new signing as they head for another season of League One football with the announcement that a Jamaican International has joined the club.
Nobo Dy, a 34 year old defender will join Gary Mcallister's side within the next few days and is expected to replace one of their so called 'Big Stars'.
It's no surprise that Nobo Dy, who was released from Macclesfield last month has joined a club such as Leeds United, as both the Jamaica International and Leeds have something in common.
Dy believes he's Premiership bound while Leeds still believe they're playing in the Champions League - the reality, is somewhat different.
The Jamaican International is bound for the Blue Square Premier while Leeds United look set for another League One campaign for 2008-09.
Delusions of grandeur, you would call it on both parties as both Leeds and their new signing are indeed nobodies.
A delighted Nobo said:
"Leeds and I have great ambitions of Champions League in the next 3 seasons and it shows"
"I mean despite us not having many efforts on goal tonight, we won against a fabulous side who are Premier League bound."
"So, I'm delighted and bet I and Leeds will run away with League One next season with 132 points"
"The other 6 points going in the direction of the team who did the double over us this season - massive Cheltenham Town."

Leeds' Weston drops transfer hint

Weston has played seven times, five from the bench, at Scunthorpe

Leeds United midfielder Curtis Weston will not rule out a permanent transfer to Scunthorpe United or elsewhere.
The 21-year-old has been on loan at the League One-bound Iron since March.
He told BBC Radio Humberside: "I would have a listen to what they've got to say and talk to the manager. We haven't discussed it yet but I'm sure we will.
"We'll see what happens. I can't be on the bench and not getting involved. I need first-team football, as much as I can get - wherever that takes me."
Weston was signed by Dennis Wise from Swindon but has found first-team opportunities limited since Gary McAllister took over.
"For me it's about playing football. I'm 21 now and I need games," the youngster added.

Utd boss waits on 'Boro/Leeds trialists

John Ward is holding fire on possible new signings Lewis Smith and Gavin Rothery.
18-year-old defender Smith and midfielder Rothery, 19, are being freed by Middlesbrough and Leeds respectively and featured for Carlisle reserves on Monday.
"The management staff are going to sit and have a meeting this week where we will discuss what we are going to do about new players, amongst other things, and they will be talked about during the course of those discussions," said Ward.
"At the moment I have decided not to tie myself to a definite decision on those two, but they have given us something to think about."

Leeds trial African duo

Dominic Adiyah

Promotion-chasing Leeds United have handed trials to two Ghanaian players.
The Elland Road outfit face Carlisle United in the League One play-offs after losing their appeal against the 15-point deduction imposed at the start of the campaign.
Gary McAllister will be looking to take the Yorkshire side to Wembley and into The Championship after their alarming fall from grace.
Dominic Adiyah and Abraham Annan are currently with Hearts of Lion but are aiming to earn a move to England.
Adiyah, 22, is a goalscoring midfielder while Annan usually operates on the wing.

Leeds trial African duo
Promotion-chasing Leeds United have handed trials to two Ghanaian players.

Tony Yeboah's Fellow Countrymen Join Leeds On Trial

Setanta Sports have said that Leeds have brought in two Ghanaians of trial for a week from Hearts of Lion Club based in Kpandu.
Adiyah, 22, is a goalscoring midfielder who scored six goals this season. Last season he scored eight goals with his former club Gomoa Fettah Feyenoord.
Abraham Annan has been with Hearts for three season and is a regular.
Neither player currently meets the required 75% of appearances in the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, and so any move to Leeds will be via a Belgian feeder club until they reach the required percentage.

Wise brings Thompson back to Newcastle

Alan Thompson is returning to Newcastle United.
The Evening Chronicle says 34-year-old Thompson will take a coaching role looking after a certain age group at the United Academy as he gets the badges necessary to move further up the ladder.
The appointment is being driven by Toon chief Dennis Wise.

Sheehan offered new Foxes deal
Leeds defender Alan Sheehan, who is currently on loan with the Whites, has been offered a new one-year contract by parent club Leicester City.

Sheehan: New Leicester deal on table

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is one of six out-of-contract players at the Walkers Stadium to be handed new deals by Foxes manager Ian Holloway.
Sheehan, currently sidelined due to a three-game ban following his recent dismissal at Yeovil, will be eligible to play in the play-off final at Wembley if Leeds win through against Carlisle.
The 21-year-old, who arrived on loan at Leeds at the end of January, has made 10 appearances at left-back for Gary McAllister's side and scored the winner in last month's victory at Doncaster.

Leeds target set for Rovers exit

Tranmere expect winger Steve Davies to leave Prenton Park in the summer
Leeds have already had two bids rejected for the 20-year-old whose contract expires shortly.
Tranmere associate director Tony Adams told BBC Radio Merseyside: "The club have done everything in their power to make Steve Davies an offer.
"He doesn't seem interested and I think it's almost inevitable that he will move on."

Leeds Rumoured Interest In Swans Midfielder

Swansea City's Andy Robinson is being constantly rumoured to be thinking over a move to Leeds United.
And whilst these reports are just rumours and "heard from a friends friend" then it does add weight to the reasoning behind why Roberto gave a deadline that expires two days before the play off final.
Newspapers in South Wales have reported 'substantial' and 'double your money' offers made my the Swans to Robinson who is still stalling over his new deal but other rumours flying around on the web sites and in discussions elsewhere suggest that Leeds have offered a far greater sum for Robinson which could prove to be the delay in getting the deal signed.
Both Swansea City and the player have expressed their desire to get the deal completed and it is almost mirroring the activities of two years ago when Robinson signed his last deal with the Swans.
There has been nothing substantiated at either end regards the Leeds rumour but there have been posts on the Planet Swans forum to suggest that it has come from the player himself or others have claimed to have it from "upon high in the club"   The stories have escalated to Robbo being offered anywhere between £8k and £12k per week to make the move to the League One play off finalists.
As with any move like this it has to be an agonising one for the player himself.  On one hand he has a side that gave him his big break and where he has played - and succeeded - for five years with the guarantee of Championship football next season.  But you also have a side that appear to be playing hardball and have made their maximum offer.  In the yellow corner you have one of the country's best supported sides who have reached the play off final despite a 15 point deduction at the start of the season.   You also have the added carrott of more money which - as many would testify - is not always easy to turn down.
It is clear that if there is anything in the Leeds rumours then that could well be why the deadline has been set for before the play off final purely to make the player decide on where he wants to play rather than letting the result of where Leeds will play next season dictate that.
It's going to be an interesting week again in South Wales as the latest contract chat plays out it's course and fans of potentially both Swansea and Leeds sit back and wait to see what develops.

A win over Doncaster Rovers next weekend would see the Whites clinch promotion from League One, and they are planning to lure Mickael Forssell from Birmingham City if they succeed.

The Finnish striker is out of contract at the relegated St Andrews side next month, and if they decide against taking a two-year option on him, the player will be available on a Bosman free transfer.

"We have got players whose contracts are up that we cannot afford to renew with the wages they are on and they may decide to leave," City co-owner David Sullivan said.

Leeds fans, surely you would be happy with the addition of Forssell? And what about you Blues fans, do you think the former Chelsea striker is worthy of a two-year deal
