Alt om Transfer Deadline Day i del 9.

Leeds miss out in late loan bid for Dickinson
Leeds United made a late bid to take Derby County striker Liam Dickinson on loan but a deal could not be done before the transfer window closed.
However, a deal could be resurrected once the emergency loan window re-opens in a week’s time, on February 9.
Dickinson joined the Rams from Stockport County in the summer for £750,000 but is yet to make his senior debut.
He has already had spells on loan with Huddersfield Town and Blackpool this season.

Little Billy Bremner is the captain of the crew
For the sake of Leeds United he would break himself in two
His hair is red and fuzzy and his body's black and blue
But Leeds go marching on.

Mer om  Dickinson:

Liam Dickinson seemingly not wanted at Pride Park and destined for Elland Road

A laste minute deal to sign Liam Dickinson by Leeds United failed last night but the loan deal may be resurrected on Monday when the emergency loan transfer window opens.

It is unclear why Derby County haven't given the 23 year old a chance to show what he could do for Derby following his £750,000 move from Stockport in the summer but they seem keen to loan Dickinson out for the third time since becoming a Ram. He has yet to kick a ball for Derby County after unsubstantiated rumours of wrong doings off field...

Bates: Points a finger at the media

BATES FIRES A BROADSIDE AT MEDIA

Ken Bates could not resist taking a swipe at the media after the transfer window closed without any further bids for midfielder Fabian Delph.
The 19-year-old England Under-21 international has been linked with a multi-million pound move to various Premier League clubs, but the Leeds chairman remains adamant his prized asset was never going anywhere.
Bates told Yorkshire Radio: "I don't know what the Mirror will write about now seeing as they've been at it all month. Sky were banging on about Leeds fans expecting a tremendous price as well. Nothing happened, so now it's suggested 'at least until the summer'.
"The last time I looked at his contract he is with us until 2012. Why should he go anywhere this summer? Or the summers after that?
"I had a chat with him after Peterborough game. He's at home at Leeds, we want to look after him and we will look after him and support him.
"He's happy at Leeds and has an agent who is more interested in looking after him than he is making a fast buck."

Leeds United Chief Executive Shaun Harvey said: 'It is disappointing that the Football League stuck rigidly to the 5pm deadline when you take into account the exceptional circumstances that prevailed yesterday.

"The FA Premier League made arrangements for their clubs to register players after the deadline and if the Football League had adopted the same approach then Liam Dickinson would be a Leeds player until the end of the season."

NY SPILLER? - Liam Dickinson:

The Oficial Site states that the papers for this loan deal until the end of the season were logged at 5.14pm.
Surely that means that Dickinson has now signed a contract with us but as things stand we can not register him as the papers were received by the FL 14 minutes after the transfer deadline.
I guess therefore that as Dickinson must have signed a contract with us until the end of the season our only option in order to have him registered to play for us is an emergency loan deal to go through next Monday.

Seagulls still hope to sign Kilkenny

Albion have not given up hope of landing Leeds United midfielder Neil Kilkenny.
They will renew their pursuit of the Australian international when the transfer window re-opens for temporary deals next week.
The Seagulls made two bids for Kilkenny during the January transfer window.
They upped their original offer to the Yorkshire giants but Leeds, keen to clinch a permanent deal for the 23-year-old, were anticipating a significantly bigger bid from a Championship club.
That did not materialise before the window for permanent transfers closed on Monday and Albion are now hoping Leeds will amend their stance and allow Kilkenny to leave on loan.
The Argus first revealed Albion’s interest in Kilkenny last week. He had Premier League experience with Birmingham and has made 21 appearances for Leeds this season but has not featured since Simon Grasyon replaced Gary McAllister as manager at Elland Road. (...)

Grayson still hoping to strike a deal

Simon Grayson has not given up hope of extending Lee Trundle's loan at Leeds United, despite failing to persuade Bristol City to allow the striker to stay at Elland Road for the rest of the season.
Grayson has confirmed that an attempt to secure Trundle, right, until the end of the League One campaign was rejected by City before the winter transfer window closed on Monday night.
The Championship club allowed Trundle to join Leeds temporarily last month with his prospects at Ashton Gate limited, but City manager Gary Johnson is not prepared to rule the 32-year-old out of his future plans.
Trundle – a £1m signing from Swansea City in 2007 – is halfway through a three-year contract in Bristol, and Johnson's squad are still in the running for the Championship play-offs.
The forward's initial month-long loan with Leeds is due to end on Monday after the club's home match against Millwall, and the closure of the window has prevented United from making further attempts to agree an extension which would cover all of their remaining League One games.
United can still increase his temporary deal up to a maximum of 93 days with City's permission, and Grayson hopes to convince Johnson to leave Trundle at Elland Road.
Grayson said: "We asked Bristol City if we could extend the loan until the end of the season and they didn't allow us to do that.
"He's their player so they've got the right to make that decision and I respect that, but it doesn't necessarily mean that we won't be able to keep him here after this month.
"If you speak to the player, I'm sure you'll find he's enjoying himself here. He's a quality striker and the type of player I want."
Grayson did succeed in converting Richard Naylor's loan from Ipswich Town into a permanent deal on Monday afternoon, but he was unable to adjust the agreement with Stoke City for left-back Carl Dickinson.
The 21-year-old was, along with Trundle and Naylor, one of three players signed on loan by Grayson last month, but he is highly-rated by Stoke and agreed a contract extension before leaving to join Leeds.
His deal at Elland Road runs until the middle of this month and could also be extended up to the 93-day limit, but Dickinson is now certain to return to the Britannia Stadium before the season ends.
Grayson said: "That was another deal we tried to do but Stoke have had a few injuries recently. They think highly of him and realistically it was probably the deal we were least expecting to do."

Fra morleyobserver.co.uk's artikkel 'Lions lad signs on for keeps to boost United'

(...) United also completed the signing of 22-year-old American striker Mike Grella after he impressed in a trial period while they also added to their staff off the field with Glynn Snodin returning to the club as part of Simon Grayson's coaching staff.
Sales-wise, it proved remarkably quiet for the Elland Road club, despite bids expected for midfielders Fabian Delph and Neil Kilkenny, so as it stands now they have added to their squad, albeit not as much as had been anticipated a month ago.
The only first team player to leave was veteran Paul Telfer, whose contract was cancelled by mutual agreement, while young goalkeeper Jonathan Lund was also released along with 20-year-old right back Scott Gardner last week. (....)

Striker loan boost for Leeds

Derby County will allow Liam Dickinson to join Leeds United in the emergency loan market after an unsuccessful attempt by Leeds to sign him until the end of the season provoked fresh conflict between Elland Road and the Football League.
United hit out at the Football League after a deal struck with Derby to take Dickinson to Leeds for the rest of their League One term collapsed on the final day of the January transfer window.
Derby were willing to sanction a half-season loan for the 23-year-old striker but Leeds failed to supply the Football League with the necessary paperwork before Monday's 5pm deadline, the cut-off point for permanent transfers and long-term loans.
United revealed that a fax confirming the agreement reached the Football League at 5.14pm, 14 minutes after the deadline, and the club criticised the League for failing to process the transfer on the basis of "exceptional circumstances".
Leeds appeared to indicate that adverse weather conditions across England were responsible for the delay in signing Dickinson.
The Premier League announced on Monday that it would authorise deals concluded after 5pm provided clubs could prove that the heavy snow was responsible for the late arrival of documentation, but the Football League adhered to the original deadline set by FIFA.
In a statement, Leeds chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "It is disappointing that the Football League stuck rigidly to the 5pm deadline when you take into account the exceptional circumstances that prevailed.
"The Premier League made arrangements for their clubs to register players after the deadline and if the Football League had adopted the same approach then Liam Dickinson would be a Leeds player until the end of the season."
The deal reached with Derby allowed Dickinson to remain with United up to and including the League One play-offs should Leeds qualify, and his arrival would have strengthened the hand of manager Simon Grayson after Bristol City rejected United's attempt to sign Lee Trundle on an identical agreement.
Dickinson built his reputation as a potent striker by scoring 33 goals in 57 league starts for his first club Stockport County, and Derby paid £750,000 to sign him last summer. He has since completed loan spells at Huddersfield Town and Blackpool, where he played under Grayson.
The Football League's emergency loan market opens next week, allowing Leeds to sign players for a maximum of 93 days, and Derby would grant the forward a move to Elland Road if United still wish to recruit him.
Derby chairman Adam Pearson told the YEP: "I'm sure it will get sorted out. We'd expect him to go there when the loan market opens."
A spokesman for the Football League responded to United's criticism by saying: "The 5pm deadline has been set for some considerable time. The paperwork for this particular transfer failed to arrive in time to comply with that deadline."

Bristol City's Trundle loan set to be extended

Bristol City star Lee Trundle is expected to stay at Leeds United for at least another month.
The 32-year-old striker joined the Coca-Cola League One outfit on a short-term basis in January and his loan spell is due to expire after Monday night's clash with Millwall at Elland Road.
Although the clubs have yet to reach agreement on an extension, it is thought likely Bristol City manager Gary Johnson will allow his £1 million signing to remain in Yorkshire for the time being.
But the Evening Post can reveal City blocked an attempt by Leeds boss Simon Grayson to keep Trundle at Elland Road for the remainder of the season.
Short of attacking options and in need of increased firepower, Grayson wanted Trundle to stay and help the Whites push for the end-of-season play-offs.
However, City are mounting a play-off challenge of their own in the Coca-Cola Championship and Johnson is not prepared to lose a valued member of his first team squad for such a long time.
Johnson claimed that Trundle still figured in his plans and that the main objective of loaning him to Leeds was for him to regain match fitness.
Given that City can recall the player at 24 hours' notice after the first month, Johnson will be inclined to listen favourably to any request from Leeds to extend Trundle's loan.
Whites boss Grayson has certainly not given up hope of signing Trundle for a second month.
He confirmed an attempt to sign the forward for the remainder of the season had been rejected before the transfer window closed on Monday night, but refused to rule out the possibility of keeping Trundle on loan for the maximum 93 days permitted by FA regulations governing transfers.
Grayson said: "We asked Bristol City if we could extend the loan to cover the rest of the season and they didn't allow us to do that.
"He's their player, so they have the right to make that decision and I respect that. But it doesn't necessarily mean we won't be able to keep him here after this month.
"If you speak to the player, I'm sure you'll find he's enjoying himself here. He's a quality striker and the type of player I want."

Trundle set to stay as Leeds prepare to welcome the Duke

On-loan striker Lee Trundle is expected to extend his stay at Leeds for at least another month while Derby say they can see no reason why Liam Dickinson should not arrive at Elland Road next week.
The 32-year-old Bristol City striker arrived at Elland Road on a short-term basis last month and his loan spell is due to expire after Monday's clash with Millwall.
Although the two clubs have yet to reach agreement on an extension, it is thought the Robins manager Gary Johnson will allow his £1million signing to remain in West Yorkshire for the time being.
But according to the Bristol-based Evening Post, the Championship club blocked an attempt by Simon Grayson to keep Trundle for the rest of the season.
Grayson himself confirmed an attempt to sign the forward for the remainder of the season had been rejected before the transfer window closed on Monday night, but refused to rule out the possibility of keeping Trundle on loan for the maximum 93 days.
Furthermore Derby County expect Liam Dickinson to join Leeds on loan when the transfer market re-opens next week.
Dickinson had been lined up for a move to Elland Road for the rest of the season on deadline day, only for the paperwork to be submitted to the Football League 14 minutes after the 5pm cut-off.
Leeds' chief executive Shaun Harvey has expressed his disappointment that the Football League were not flexible in allowing the move to go through on Monday.
Harvey told the club's official website: "The Premier League made arrangements for their clubs to register players (eg Arshavin to Arsenal) after the deadline and if the Football League had adopted the same approach then Liam Dickinson would be a Leeds player until the end of the season."
Dickinson has yet to make his debut for Derby since joining from Stockport County last summer. Grayson signed the 23-year-old during his time at Blackpool and the forward scored four goals in seven appearances for the Seasiders.
Dickinson was a class act in Stockport's play-off final win last season and maybe that experience of scoring goals at Wembley will come in handy.
What is certain is that with Dickinson, Trundle, Beckford, Becchio, Snodgrass and Grella on board, Leeds have the ammunition to score the goals they need to between now and the end of the season.

Striker loan boost for Leeds
Derby County will allow Liam Dickinson to join Leeds United in the emergency loan market after an unsuccessful attempt by Leeds to sign him until the end of the season provoked fresh conflict between Elland Road and the Football League.

Liam's still a Whites target

Simon Grayson has confirmed that Liam Dickinson remains a target for Leeds United despite their failed bid to sign the striker from Derby County earlier this week.
Dickinson was denied a move to Elland Road when his proposed switch from Pride Park missed Monday's transfer deadline, but Grayson is set to use the Football League's emergency loan market to secure the 23-year-old's services later this month.
Leeds and Derby agreed a deal which would have allowed Dickinson to join United on loan until the end of their League One campaign, but the transfer fell through after paperwork sent from Elland Road arrived with the Football League 14 minutes after Monday's 5pm deadline.
The January window was the final opportunity for clubs in England to agree permanent transfers and long-term loans, but the Football League's flexibility in allowing short-term temporary deals to be struck outside that window will give Leeds the chance to add to their squad from the beginning of next week.
Dickinson could join Leeds for a maximum of 93 days under Football League rules – potentially long enough to secure him for the League One play-offs if United delay his arrival until the relevant date – and Derby chairman Adam Pearson has confirmed that his club are still willing to sanction the forward's transfer to Leeds.
Grayson said: "It was one of those deals that came up late in the day and an opportunity I thought we should try and take. Unfortunately we didn't get him. Talks are ongoing and I'd like to think that if he had a choice of clubs then Leeds would be top of his priority list.
"Having worked with the player in the past, I understand him and he understands me so we've got chance of doing that deal, but no deal is ever secure until it's been signed, sealed and delivered.
"It's one where we'll again be exploring the option of bringing him in."
Ex-Stockport County player Dickinson played under Grayson while on loan at Blackpool from Derby earlier in the season, and the striker's temporary spell at Bloomfield Road was still in full flow when Grayson left to become United's new manager two days before Christmas.
Grayson is keen to secure a new striker after Bristol City rebuffed Leeds' attempt to extend Lee Trundle's loan deal until the end of the season, though the Championship club are indicating that Trundle will be given permission to remain with United for a further four weeks when his initial month-long agreement expires after Monday's match against Millwall.
Grayson said: "I worked with Liam at Blackpool and he's scored many goals in the last few years.
"He got his move to Derby (from Stockport) and I thought he'd be a good addition to our squad. I was disappointed not to have got him but we'll have to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks."
Dickinson scored 33 goals in 57 league starts for Stockport before joining Derby last summer, but he has not made a first-team appearance for his parent club.
The forward began this season on loan at Huddersfield Town, making 13 outings and scoring six goals.

Robbo wants birthday boy to stay
Winger Andy Robinson is hoping Bristol City will give his former Swansea City team-mate Lee Trundle a 33rd birthday present by letting him remain at Leeds United.
Trundle’s loan spell runs out after Monday night’s home game against Millwall and the striker’s birthday is on Tuesday.
Leeds wanted to stretch his stay until the end of the season before the January window closed but Bristol were keen to negotiate a permanent transfer, with cash changing hands.
