LUFC McDermott - No new deal for Somma
Leeds United boss Brian McDermott says he doesn`t expect to give out of contract striker Davide Somma a new deal with the club.
Somma is currently training with Leeds despite being released in the summer, as he continues his rehabilitation from his latest knee injury. In the week, the South African international spoke of his hope of earning a new deal with Leeds but McDermott played down his hopes.
Speaking on Radio Leeds, McDermott said, "We are looking after Davide and he is doing his rehabilitation with Leeds.
"Once he is fit, it is important that he gets a chance with a club but I can`t see it being Leeds United."
Somma made just six appearances in his last two seasons at Elland Road after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in the summer of 2011.
He enjoyed just one full season at Leeds, netting twelve times in thirty-two appearances, with most of those coming from the bench
