Cellino and Salerno are to blame for this mess. Cellino for his bizarre appointments of Comedy Dave, Dire Darko and now the Youth Team Coach as manager, Salerno for recruiting players from a League that's so different from the Championship. Thats said Redfearn doesn't escape criticism. We can all see that the midfield is too lightweight, it's not offering any protection to the back four or any spark going forward to give attackers scoring chances. We'e apparently looking for additional strikers in January. Why? We're not creating chances for the ones we've got. Don't get me wrong, I love Cook and Mowatt, but aren't they a little young to carry the burden in midfield? What happened to Danish international Sloth? Got to be better than Bianchi? Montenegro? Why aren't we changing things up as what we're doing isn't working and League one is beckoning.

Alarm bells ring at Leeds United as cowardice and anarchy undermine Neil Redfearn and his talented graduates
Popular manger who has done so much with his partner to nurture a fine crop of youngsters such as Lewis Cook is being destabilised under president Massimo Cellino

There is a couple in Yorkshire fighting for the soul of English football. The Leeds United head coach, Neil Redfearn, and his partner Lucy Ward, head of welfare and education at the club’s academy, are good people, staying stoic in stressful circumstances while continuing to do vital jobs with a real passion, namely developing the next generation of English talent.
The awards season is in full swing and if there were any justice in the game then Redfearn and Ward would be acclaimed for their selfless graft.
The Football Association chairman, Greg Dyke, attended the Football League shindig on Sunday at the Brewery in London when a combined Redfearn-Ward success story, the tough, skilful 18-year-old midfielder Lewis Cook was named Championship Apprentice of the Year.

Lewis Cook's award is a testament to Neil Redfearn and Lucy Ward
Dyke has spent the past 18 months riding his England Commission hobby‑horse across the land, campaigning for clubs to nurture more English prospects like Cook, ultimately improving a weak national team. He watched as a highlights package captured the fearless teenager in action, driving through opposing teams, creating chances and then listened as the film heard from Redfearn and Ward. They spoke with almost parental pride of a player noted for community contributions as well as footballing potential.
At Thorp Arch, Ward cultivates apprentices like Cook who understand their duty to club, team-mates and profession. This is what Dyke seeks, responsibility-taking adults as well as aspiring internationals. Ward’s delight in Cook’s award ran through her instant tweet at the news:

A popular figure at Elland Road, the former Leeds United Ladies player, who even played and scored in Lucas Radebe’s testimonial, has a long track record of guiding youngsters, some of whom may be homesick, going through the usual teenage angst, dealing with school issues, as well as fretting over whether they will make it in the fiercely competitive professional game. She helped steer James Milner and Fabian Delph in the right direction, onwards and upwards, towards England. Now Cook seeks to follow them, having benefited from Ward’s benign supervision.
Redfearn, who brought some welcome sanity and stability to the Leeds madhouse on being appointed in October, knew Cook’s class from his time running the academy and had the knowledge and confidence to give the youngster greater first-team exposure and responsibility.
On receiving his award, Cook immediately voiced a debt of gratitude to Redfearn. Others also have much to thank the 49-year-old Yorkshireman for. Alex Mowatt, 20, Sam Byram, 21, and Charlie Taylor, 21, have all featured prominently under Redfearn. Their emergence was also facilitated by Ward. Redfearn and Ward are fundamental to Leeds’ well-being and also to the national set-up. Cook, Mowatt, Byram and Taylor have all been called into England age-group squads at some point.

Alex Mowatt is embraced by Sam Byram as Lewis Cook joins the celebration
What should be an uplifting narrative, a famous English club being revived by a couple who care, building around home-grown flair, helping the national cause, has sadly lurched towards anarchy because of the club’s controversial president, Massimo Cellino.
As Dyke and his beloved commission focus on constructing (much-needed) 3G pitches, tightening (lax) work-permit regulations and increasing home-grown quotas, the FA also needs to confront the problem of owners like Cellino, who is damaging national interests.
It is impossible to escape the suspicion that Redfearn is being undermined from within. Since being appointed head coach with the remit of rescuing a relegation-threatened team, Redfearn galvanised the players, organised them, and they reached 52 points with seven games remaining. Since then they have lost five on the spin partly because of inexplicable off-field defeats. Redfearn’s trusted assistant, Steve Thompson, was suspended without explanation on April 2, a decision “undermining” the head coach in Redfearn’s view. He now has to do the “BBC” work, putting out the balls, bibs and cones, setting up training at Thorp Arch. Redfearn is being isolated and demeaned at a time when English football is crying out for strong English managers like him who back English youth.

FA Chairman Greg Dyke campaigns for development of more English players
Last Friday saw the continuation of the cowardly undermining of one of the most respected men in the English game. Six players associated with Cellino reported sudden injuries, refusing to travel to play against Charlton Athletic, a “freakish set of events” in Redfearn’s appraisal. Leeds issued a statement saying their absence was all on legitimate medical advice, and Cellino defended himself, but the fans were unconvinced. Is Cellino jealous of Redfearn’s popularity?
The talk amongst those professionals who did report for duty was of their admiration for Gaetano Berardi, the Swiss who could have been in that Cellino clique and has genuinely been carrying injuries but turned up and sat on the bench at the Valley. Berardi’s presence condemned the others.
“The Championship is a tough division and that’s if you’ve got all your staff in place and all your players onside and everything going in the right direction,’’ Redfearn told Radio Yorkshire. “When not [got everything going in the right direction] it’s near-on impossible.” With his contract expiring this summer, Redfearn is likely to leave Elland Road, confirming Cellino’s reputation in Italy as a “mangia-allenatori” (manager-eater). Such an outcome would be desperate for Leeds, another lurch in the direction of soullessness and lawlessness. Losing a manager prepared to give English youth its head would similarly be a setback for the national game. Would Ward follow her partner? That would be another huge loss.
Cellino is banned from influencing events at Elland Road following a yacht-related tax infringement in Italy. Nobody knows if he was behind Thompson’s exit or the antics of the Leeds Six. Even if Cellino were, and there is no proof, the attitude of the Football League is that as long as an exiled owner does not flaunt his continued involvement, it will take neither offence nor action. Keep quiet and carry on.

Massimo Cellino plays to the crowd
Transposed to a baseball park, the Redfearn-Ward story could easily be turned into a classic Hollywood morality tale with homespun hero and heroine battling the odds to foster the future despite the meddling of an owner from out of town. (Cellino’s nationality is actually irrelevant; there are some wretched English owners out there as supporters of Blackpool and Newcastle United will attest.)
The story looks to be heading for a sad ending. The clock ticks on Redfearn’s short reign. The alarm bells will then ring even louder at Elland Road if Cellino considers cashing in on those kids, those like Cook nurtured by two honest, hard-working people, Redfearn and Ward.

Solid back som sjelden spiller dårlige kamper.

EXCLUSIVE: Pearson swaps Owls for Leeds

Richard Sutcliffe
19:59Monday 11 May 2015

ADAM PEARSON will tomorrow be unveiled as an executive director at Leeds United – after calling time on a similar role at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Yorkshire Post understands the former Hull City chairman met owner Massimo Cellino over the weekend to discuss a possible return to Elland Road.

Agreement was struck in principle and Pearson, whose departure from Hillsborough is yet to be made public after he was appointed to the Owls’ three-man football committee just last month, returned to Elland Road yesterday to finalise matters.

It is believed he has already been allocated an office and will start in the role on Tuesday morning.

Pearson’s first task is likely to be the search for a new head coach, with Cellino understood to be on the verge of removing the popular Neil Redfearn.

Mark Warburton, soon to be on his way from Brentford, has already been linked with a post that, for all United’s recent travails, is still an attractive proposition.

The reasons behind Pearson’s departure from Wednesday remain unclear, but a desire to return to Elland Road is believed to be an important factor for Leeds-based Pearson.

For full story, read Tuesday’s The Yorkshire Post newspaper.

God artikkel fra Lorimer:

Leeds United: Return of Pearson ticks all the right boxes – Lorimer

Peter Lorimer
08:22Thursday 14 May 2015

We’ve needed some good news at Leeds United and this week has given us some at last.

Lewis Cook’s new contract was a big boost for everyone and that simply had to be done.

He’s one of our brightest young talents and the thought of him being out of contract in 12 months’ time was clearly a worry.

Deals aren’t always worth the paper they’re written on but Cook’s more protected now than he was before and he seemed very happy to sign on for longer.

It counters the idea that players are worried about sticking around here.

But just as significant was the appointment of Adam Pearson as a club director on Monday.

It was a bolt from the blue and no mistake but as directors go he ticks all the boxes. Leeds have been crying out for someone like him for a very long time.

Adam’s a proper football man and he’s massively experienced in running and managing clubs.

He won’t be running Leeds – that’s still the job of Massimo Cellino – but he’s someone who the club’s owner can lean on when he needs to and trust to keep day-to-day business ticking over.

The reality for Massimo is that no matter how tightly he likes to control things, or no matter how tightly he controlled things at Cagliari, he can’t do everything himself. He can’t be everywhere all the time and he can’t oversee every part of the operation at Leeds.

At this level of the game it’s imperative that you have a team around you; a trusted team from top to bottom.

When I look at Leeds I see a bit of a skeleton staff. Quite a few senior people have gone and I’ve always thought that Thorp Arch would benefit from having someone in overall charge there – a technical director who’s on top of absolutely everything, without actually running the first team.

It sounds like that might be happening, too.

I know for a fact that our scouting network has broken down over the years and, to be perfectly honest, there isn’t much of a network left any more.

At every level of a major football club you need people who understand the game and know their jobs. That’s why I think Adam is a perfect choice in his role.

I’ve known him for a long time, going back to the days when he was commercial director at Leeds some 15 years ago.

The work he did at Hull City was seriously impressive and that goes without saying.

When you think of Adam, you automatically think about Hull’s rapid rise through the leagues.

The foundations he laid there are still paying off now, even if Hull are currently in a bit of trouble on the field.

Most people will be hugely encouraged by his arrival. Some others might question whether he can make an impact at Elland Road.

It’s not a secret that others before him have tried to work under Massimo and ultimately found that it didn’t work out. One thing we’ve seen in the past year is a pretty high turnover of staff.

Where Adam might differ is that I think he’ll be very good at knowing what his remit is and knowing what not to get involved in.

I get the feeling that from time to time certain people have strayed into areas which weren’t their business and didn’t necessarily concern them.

It’s pretty obvious that Massimo’s the sort of person who wants people to do what they should be doing and I reckon his relationship with Adam will be really good.

On top of all this, we’ve had the transfer embargo lifted and all in all you start to hope that after a long period of problems and difficulty, things are starting to take shape again.

Operating without an embargo should make a big difference.

Basically we’re free to sign who we like within our own limits, rather than having those limits set for us. That doesn’t mean we’re going to see a massive amount of money spent on players – that’s for Massimo to decide – but if the club want to invest heavily then they can.

This squad requires investment and I’ve never pretended otherwise.

But considering the talent we have in it, and the young players in particular, we very much need the right players.

When you’re under embargo your options aren’t vast and it doesn’t help to attract new signings when players know you’ve got one hand tied behind your back. All of a sudden we’ve got a nice clean slate.

A week like this has been long overdue and it’s amazing how a few days of good news can make you feel so much more positive.

We’re still waiting for other things to happen – especially a decision over Neil Redfearn’s job – but it feels to me like a few wheels are in motion, just when we needed to start moving forward.

The thing about someone like Adam is that he’ll appreciate the value of momentum.

He’ll know from his days at Hull how important it is and I’m sure he’ll do everything to keep this going.

There’s been a hole in that position, a shortage of experience at the top level, for a while but I see Adam’s arrival in as a really positive move.

Hopefully, there’s more to come.

Leeds United: Three is a magic number

by
Phil Hay

published 22:30 Wednesday 20 May 2015

Leeds United plan to make three more additions to their backroom staff before the end of next week with the club on the verge of securing an assistant coach, a first-team coach and a head of recruitment.

Speaking as he unveiled Uwe Rosler as United’s new head coach, director Adam Pearson said candidates for the three other posts had been identified ahead of a major overhaul at Thorp Arch.

Former Leeds defender Gunnar Halle is being linked with the role of assistant having previously worked with Rosler in Norway.

United, meanwhile, have examined a number of possible options for the head of recruitment job including Celtic scout David Moss.

The arrival of a new recruitment boss will signal the end of Nicola Salerno’s year-long spell as sporting director.

Pearson refused to name names but said: “We have three key pieces of the jigsaw to fit in place. The names are decided, I’m just having to wade through contracts. The (appointments) will be made in the next week.”

Leeds United: Whites headed for calmer waters - Pearson

by
Phil Hay

published 13:20 Thursday 21 May 2015

Adam Pearson is optimistic that the appointment of Uwe Rosler as head coach will be the start of a period of stability at Leeds United and says the German will have his “fullest support” as he tries to make his mark on the job.

Pearson attempted to paint a picture of calm at Leeds after Rosler agreed to become the club’s fifth first-team boss in the space of 12 months by signing a two-year contract yesterday.

The rapid turnover of coaches at Elland Road is indicative of United’s turbulent existence under owner Massimo Cellino but Pearson, who joined the club as executive director last week, said signs of unrest on the outside were “not what’s paddling under the water.”

Rosler’s arrival ended the reign of Neil Redfearn, the incumbent head coach who held the post for six months and has now been told that he is free to return to his old job as manager of the academy at Thorp Arch.

Redfearn’s removal came on the back of a spell of intense speculation about his future and savage criticism of him by Cellino in a Sunday newspaper last weekend.

He is understood to be taking legal advice before deciding whether to return to his academy role.

Cellino himself has only just returned from a Football League ownership ban and he is at risk of further disqualifications with two tax evasions charges against him due to be heard in Cagliari next month.

The Italian staged a chaotic, 70-minute press conference at Elland Road last week in which he struggled to address the numerous issues affecting Leeds but United are in the process of constructing a new backroom team and expect to appoint an assistant boss, a first-team coach and a head of recruitment in the next seven days.

Pearson admitted he was aware of criticism aimed at the club and Cellino, but said: “We’re excited about the future. I know it’s easy for me to say that after 10 days here but I’ve only seen positive signs behind the scenes so far. I can only take that as the way we’re going.

“What you see on the outside is not what’s paddling under the water. I think you’ll find over the coming weeks that there’s a sense of order and stability which starts to pervade the club.

“We’ve brought in a head coach who knows his own mind and he’ll be strong in those principles. He’ll have my fullest support alongside him. There’s been a process in recruiting (Rosler) which I think has been professional. And that’s the way we intend to continue.”

Rosler has begun discussions about the summer transfer market following his appointment and both he and Pearson insisted that he would have a strong influence on signings at Elland Road, despite Cellino’s habit of controlling that area of the club’s business.

United recently released nine players at the end of their contracts, including Aidan White and Rodolph Austin, but they are yet to clarify whether any of the seven loanees signed last season will return to Elland Road.

Cellino decided towards the end of this season that the club would not be retaining Flamengo’s Adryan, believing the Brazilian to be unsuited to English football, but defender Dario Del Fabro could join from Cagliari for a second time.

Centre-back Sol Bamba is also looking for a permanent deal at Elland Road having finished the Championship term on loan from Palermo. The 31-year-old, however, signed off his time in Leeds with some critical comments about Cellino’s running of United.

Asked if Bamba might sign again, Pearson said: “He could well do. We’ve literally had no formal recruitment meeting at all and we know we’re perhaps a week behind where we should be.

“But we’ll very quickly get up to speed and the key people are close to coming in. Uwe is pretty clear on what he wants to come into the club. You’ll start to see some movement pretty quickly. We won’t hang around.”

Cellino utvider staben:

Leeds United are poised to appoint ex-Wigan and Liverpool employee Stuart Hayton as their new club secretary.

Hayton is set to join Leeds in the coming days after leaving his job as secretary at Liverpool.

Liverpool recruited him two years ago but Hayton, who previously spent many years at Wigan, agreed last month that he would leave Anfield by mutual consent after the end of this season.

His arrival would be another addition to the infrastructure at Elland Road after a fortnight in which United named ex-Hull City Adam Pearson as a club director and unveiled Uwe Rosler as their new head coach.

Rosler’s previous managerial job was also at the DW Stadium, though he took up that post three months after Hayton moved on to Anfield.

Hayton worked for 20 years, latterly as secretary. He joined Liverpool for the 2013-14 season.

Club secretary is one of a number of posts which Leeds have working to fill following the arrival of Rosler on a two-year deal.

United are finalising the appointment of an assistant boss, a first-team coach and a head of recruitment.

Kul setning. ::)

Vet ingenting om ham, men perfekt at innlegget om Hayton kom i riktig tråd!  Takk!   :)

I direkte kontakt med Cellino:

@EmaGiulianelli: +++ Cellino has told me that Stuart Hayton is the Leeds United's new secretary.

Og en god kommentar:

@stevenarthursim: @EmaGiulianelli
Cellino is putting together a management team which can operate without his interference. I think he won't be managing.

Og en konspiratoriske tanke:

@tomcusworth1: @stevenarthursim @EmaGiulianelli because he won't be at Leeds after June. Pearson brought in to broker deal to sell #lufc

We can only hope. Hmmm...
