Ex-spiller: Danny Rose

<i><font color="blue">Danny Rose got both goals as England started strongly in the Montaigu Tournament</font id="blue"></i>

Gutten scoret jo to mål i en pre-season for youth-laget nettopp.

 <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica," id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">i have.

saw him in a youth cup match (fanatic)

baring in mind he was playing 2 or 3 years above, id say that yes....he is gonna be V good.

<b>quick, skillfull, both footed and whats more still learning</b>.

<b>think he played wide left too, and he can play through the middle</b>.

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica," id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">Seen him play –bags of potential. According to a lot of reports as ‘widely recognised as the best player in his position in Europe’ – which is a hell of a statement. I remember watching Lennon from the age of 13, and it was obvious that he was going to be a star. Rose has that same look about him. Not the flair of Aaron, but has <b>more of an all round game</b>. Hopefully there won’t be too much pressure on the lad, and the worst thing KB can do is stick him in before he is ready. He certainly has the ability and potential to make it, but over the years so have Cadamartari, Jeffers etc. The academy at Leeds is up there with the best in the country, so he’s in the right place. He’s very highly rated by the coaches down there, so fingers crossed…

ENGLAND UNDER 17
Nordic Tournament
27 July - 6 August, 2006
Faroe Islands

Kenny Swain has named an 18 man squad for the upcoming Nordic Tournament which will be held in the Faroe Islands.

A number of Swain's squad played for England Under-16s during the recent Montaigu Tournament, which took place in April.

There, England finished fifth after a penalty shoot-out victory over Japan.

Rhys Murphy, who scored in the 1-1 win over Japan as well as converting from the spot during the shoot-out, is named in the squad alongside Arsenal teammate Moses Barnett.

Also included are Jonathan Franks and Daniel Rose (pictured), of Middlesbrough and Leeds respectively. Both have shone at under-16 level.

Swain, a former European Cup winner with Aston Villa, will meet up with his squad at Burnham Beeches on 27 July before departing for the Faroe Islands three days later.

The tournament, which runs from 31 July to 5 August, comprises eight teams, split into two groups. England are in Group B, along with Norway, Sweden and the Faroe Island Under-19s. Iceland, Finland, Denmark and the Faroe Islands make up Group B.

The winners of each group will play each other to decide the outright tournament winner.

Danny Rose of Leeds United is soon to play Norway in the Faroe Island. Apparantly a good opportunity for former White David Harvey to have a look at the growing talent at his former club

He'll definately be the one to come through next in a couple of years time. Will be a top player for Chelsea or Spurs in three years.

quote:
16 - Incidentally both Taiwo and Woods were in the same midfield, and he outshone them both by a distance.

quote:
Also saw him for England U16's on Sky last year with that little git Woods who went to Chelsea. Cam on at half time, played more of a left-centre mid role than a winger and looked like he could tackle a bit too. Anyway, looked very good and scored a goal soon after coming on, seemed to have plenty of pace.

quote:
of the 3 that Chelea were after, he is by far the most highly rated. Woods can play too, and could develop, but I'd be suprised if Taiwo made the grade at a very good level - he was more of a sweetner to get Woods...

Oh, Danny booooooy!

For those of you who are unaware, the lad Rose has made the jump up from England U16s to the U17s for the World Youth Championships this month.

Tellingly, Mr Woods and Mr Taiwo haven't (although to be fair Woods, who will be a cracking player, has been with the Chelski 1st team on tour) played for the U17's yet.

Rose played 90mins vs Norway and Sweden, respectively. He made a 56th minute sub appearance against the Faroe Islands and scored the winner in a 1-0 win. I believe he's been playing up front in these matches.

We also have two other youngsters participating in this championship for England, Ben Gordon (striker??) and Liam Darville (full back??). Darville has played all three matches and Gordon has featured as sub.

They're all too young for this to mean chuff all at the moment but it's nice to see our highly rated 16-17yr olds (apparently our youth coaches think at least 2-3 of them will make the grade and it would've been more if Chelski hadn't come a calling) progressing and improving. We've kept the diamond of the bunch (Rose) which is encouraging but I can tell you already, Woods WILL make it and will be an excellent player.

The futures looking bright. Fingers crossed when they're ready we have manager in place who rates and knows how to develop and encourage youth because it's a fact Blackwell, love him or hate him, doesn't trust youth players. certainly not until they reach 20 anyway.

FA.com:

England followed their fine victory over Sweden on Monday with a defiant win over a side two age groups above them, with super-sub Danny Rose popping up with a late winner.
...
Leeds United striker Danny Rose came on for Jack Ainsley and within 20 minutes he was the hero of proceedings. Two minutes after the Faroe Islands were reduced to ten men when Johan Davidson was dismissed.

England: Gary Woods, (Manchester United), Liam Darville, (Leeds United), James Reid, (Nottingham Forest) (Lee Askham (Sheffield United) 40), Thomas Harvey, (West Ham) (Adam Smith (Tottenham Hotspur) 64), Joe Mattock, (Leicester City), Rhys Murphy, (Arsenal), Jonathan Franks, (Middlesbrough), Moses Barnett, (Arsenal), Daniel Welbeck, (Manchester United), Tristan Plummer, (Bristol City), Jack Ainsley, (Ipswich Town) (Daniel Rose (Leeds United) 56)
Subs not used: Kyle Fraser-Allen (Tottenham Hotspur), Ben Gordon (Leeds United), Jordan Spence (West Ham), Jason Steele (Middlesbrough)

England's young guns made it to the final of the Nordic Tournament and continued their unblemished record thanks to two goals from Jack Ainsley.

The achievement is a tribute to Kenny Swain's young squad as they make their first step up from the under-16 age group, they have more than proven their capabillity with three wins out of three in the group stage.

Following their fine displays against Sweden and Faroe Islands U19s, England faced the final hurdle of Norway to ensure they topped their group.

Jack Ainsley was the hero of the day adding to his tally with two cool finishes to give the Three Lions a clear passage to the final on Saturday.

The first goal came after just 18 minutes and it was a poachers finish from Ainsley with his left-foot.

Chrstian Brix levelled the scores nine minutes before the interval, but it was Ainsley again who found himself in the right place at the right time to seal the victory and take him to three goals in the tournament.

Kenny Swain feels that there is more to come from his side, but is convinced that they deserve the opportunity to win the tournament.

He told TheFA.com: "It wasn't the best performance of our time out here as we have certainly played better than that in the other two matches.

"But the important thing is that we did enough to win the match and now the boys have a wonderful reward coming on Saturday.

"What we have been looking forward to and preparing for is The FA International Tournament at the end of the month - that is has been at the forefront of our minds in preparing the boys for these matches, but there have been a lot of positives here also.

"We are tryring to establish who will be able to break into the squad from the younger age group for when we take on Portugal, USA and Turkey - and a number of players have staked their claim."

Kenny also revealed that the team have already visited the venue for the final with Denmark, "We took the boys to a Champions League qualifier on our day off and we saw a confident performance from Fenerbahce and got to grips with the surroundings.

"It was an experience for the lads, although it seems even when you get time off football finds it's way into your plans. Hopefully the final with Denmark will be an entertaining match and an improvement from today's performance."

England: Jason Steele (Middlesbrough), James Reid, (Nottingham Forest), Thomas Harvey, (West Ham) (Liam Darville, (Leeds United) 40), Jordan Spence (West Ham) (c), Joe Mattock, (Leicester City), Daniel Rose (Leeds United), Jonathan Franks, (Middlesbrough), Moses Barnett, (Arsenal) (Daniel Welbeck (Manchester United) 78), Adam Smith (Tottenham Hotspur) (Rhys Murphy, (Arsenal) 40), Lee Askham (Sheffield United) (Kyle Fraser-Allen (Tottenham Hotspur) 62), Jack Ainsley, (Ipswich Town) (Tristan Plummer, (Bristol City) 62)

Subs not used: Ben Gordon (Leeds United), Gary Woods, (Manchester United)
