Merkelig.

Skipper Alan Thompson is a minor concern after Saturday's 1-0 win against Luton Town at Elland Road.

Thommo was substituted after 73 minutes with a groin problem and is undergoing treatment on the injury.

"Alan's done his groin," said boss Dennis Wise.

"I shouted on to him and Alan said he was okay, but we brought him off and he said he knew it was the right decision."

The boss is also weighing up his striking options before deciding whether to bring in a loan man as cover.

Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford are the only two fit senior strikers, although teenager Tomi Ameobi made his debut at Portsmouth last week and was an unused substitute on Saturday.

Tore Andre Flo (ankle) is currently sidelined, Leon Constantine (ankle) is some weeks away from a return, and Tom Elliott has also been on the treatment table.

"I've got a sit where Tore is injured and we've also got Leon injured," explained the boss. "We've got to see how long they will be.

"We've got Tomi, who did well at Portsmouth, but I don't want to bung too much on him too early.

"We'll see how we go and it might be that someone else comes in."

Dennis Wise has received a massive boost ahead of Friday's trip to Bristol Rovers.

Skipper Alan Thompson and striker Tore Andre Flo are both training in advance of the Memorial Ground clash while Curtis Weston and Ian Westlake have completed 90 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game as they returned from injury.

Jonathan Douglas is also set to return from international duty on Thursday morning, and Wisey is hoping to have a near full squad to select from.

"Tore's training and Thommo trained on Wednesday," confirmed the boss.

"Thommo still feels it so we'll see how it is. We'll also have Jonathan Douglas back as soon as he can get back.

"We'll make decisions on Thursday. We've got a rough idea, we'll just have to see. We'll have a look at Dougie and see how Thommo goes."

Wisey's midfield options are further boosted with the availability of Westy and Curtis, while Paul Huntington also completed the friendly win against Chesterfield.

"Westy got a game in and so did Paul and Curtis, and they all needed a game," added the boss.

"There's not too many on injury list which is good. We don't want people rushing back and falling flat."

New signing David Lucas is also likely to go straight into the squad on Friday. The ex-Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper has joined on a short-term contract.

"He's 29 and he's a  bit more experienced," explained Dennis.

"He's been in situations and he's been at a few clubs. He's trained well, he's a good age for a goalkeeper, and he provides competition for Alan and Casper."

One player who is fit but will again miss out is Filipe Da Costa. The Portuguese winger scored in the behind-closed-doors game, but the club are waiting on international clearance.

"I dont know how long this is going to be," added the boss.

"It was wonderful goal, and he's got a lot of ability. We're just having to wait on him unfortunately.

"He's frustrated, but it gives us chance to get him fit. It's more frustrating for him than anyone else because he wants to play football."

Ser unekteleg lysare ut no, men fryktar eit tilbakefall for Flo. Det høyrer liksom med til historia.

Saknar ein skadd Derry, men så lenge Thommo kjem attende så skal eg ikkje syte for mykje[:)]

(...) Tore Andre Flo is preparing for another comeback having returned to training yesterday.
Flo, who damaged a ligament in his foot last month, has made only three sub appearances this season, and Wise may be reluctant to rush him back. Jonathan Douglas should be involved after sitting as an unused sub for the Republic of Ireland last night. (...)

Om keeper-situasjonen...

"we need cover until november at least, when Lund should be back in full training after a shoulder operation.
the young keeper Martin who we have just signed, will be on duty for scotland u21 during the next several weeks, therefore we need a back up keeper for the first team and to fill in for the reserves.
because
Jon Lund is injured and Mat Edwards is taking things steady at u18 level after an ankle op, therefore the club is not going to rush these 2 young keepers back. "

Weston set for reserves outing
Curtis Weston will step up his recovery from injury with a run-out for Leeds reserves.
The 20-year-old summer signing from Swindon has been limited to just two appearances so far this season after picking up an ankle injury against Macclesfield in August.
But Weston will improve his chances of a first-team recall ahead of Saturday's visit of Swansea if he comes through the clash against Darlington unscathed.
New recruit David Lucas will also be looking to impress manager Dennis Wise, as will midfielder Jonathan Howson and striker Tomi Ameobi who will also figure.

United skipper sits out Swans clash

LEEDS United boss Dennis Wise is resisting the temptation to rush skipper Alan Thompson back into the first team.
Thompson has been sidelined with a groin injury in recent weeks and will again sit it out when unbeaten Leeds host Swansea City at Elland Road tomorrow. The midfielder could be back in full training next week.
Said Wise: "Thommo is not going to be fit. He's still struggling with his groin.
"He's not a million miles away, but it's one where if you risk him it could be another couple of weeks.
"He knows what the right thing is and so do we. He needs to build his groin up."
There are no other new injury problems for the United boss as his team chase their seventh successive victory in Coca-Cola League One.
The long-term sick list includes midfielder Shaun Derry (heel) and striker Leon Constantine (ankle).
"Everyone else is fine," said Wise. "Tore Andre Flo is training and we'll get him F***er by the week."

Leeds United striker Leon Constantine is targeting a return to training next month.
Constantine is entering the final stages of his recovery from an ankle injury, and manager Dennis Wise is hoping to see him link up with the rest of United's squad in four weeks' time.
The former Port Vale striker has not featured for Leeds since damaging his ankle during the club's pre-season friendly against Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic, and he received a two-year contract from Wise while on the treatment table four days before the start of the League One campaign.
United's boss said: "I should hopefully have him back in four weeks, fingers crossed.
"He's very important to me."
Constantine was expected to be a first-choice striker at Elland Road this season after scoring 26 goals for Port Vale last year, but a combination of his ankle injury and the prolific form of Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford is likely to see him occupy a place on the bench when he returns to full fitness.

Norwegian striker Tore Andre Flo has also found himself relegated to a substitute's role after a succession of foot injuries, and Wise said: "Tore has to wait because knows about the two up front.
"He thinks they're unbelievable."
