Leeds United: Elland Road club spent almost £400,000 on agents fees in 2008/9

Date: 20 August 2009
By Phil Hay
Leeds United spent £376,500 on agents fees last season, according to figures published by the Football League.
The Elland Road club's expenditure increased marginally from £373,000 during the 2007-08 term and represented more than a third of League One's total bill.

However, only £30,000 of that sum was paid out in the second half of the term.

United parted with the highest amount in their division, ahead of last season's champions Leicester City who spent £121,700 for the services of players' agents, while the overall League One bill dropped from more than £1.5m to just over £1m.

Six clubs in United's league did not pay a penny to agents.
The Football League as a whole dropped its expenditure from £11.1m to £8.8m.
