New signing Tom Adeyemi will miss tonight’s friendly at York City as Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler hikes up the pressure on the rest of his squad.

Adeyemi is being put through an individual fitness programme following his transfer on loan from Cardiff City and Rosler plans to delay his first appearance until Leeds play Eintracht Frankfurt in Austria next week.

The 23-year-old midfielder and Luke Murphy, who yesterday signed a new four-year deal with the Whites â€" are the only confirmed absentees this evening.

But Rosler will deviate from the strategy used at Harrogate Town on Friday, Leeds’ first friendly of the summer.

Different line-ups were used in both halves of a 1-1 draw at Wetherby Road but Rosler plans to push certain players through 90 minutes against York tonight while a second-string friendly takes place away at Tadcaster Albion.

The German, who will be present at Bootham Crescent while coaches Julian Darby and Richard Hartis manage the squad at Tadcaster, said he would stick to one formation in both games having experimented with 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 at Harrogate.

“We have two XIs â€" one plays against York, one plays against Tadcaster,” Rosler said.

“We’ll be increasing the time on the pitch.


“The first game was 45 minutes for each team but having two teams at two places, a lot of players will play 90 minutes, or 60 or 75. It’s natural progression.”

Leeds struggled to cope with a 3-5-2 set-up at Harrogate, falling behind in the first half before a change of tactics in the second half inspired an improved display.

“We’ll play one system, the same system at York and Tadcaster,” Rosler said. “There’s no plan to change the system at half-time.

“It’s so far so good at the moment.

“I had to spend more time on conditioning than I thought I would to bring the team up to the way we want to play but we’re introducing more tactics now.

“When we go to Austria we’ll prepare more and more specifically for games.

“I don’t need more time (to prepare). Six weeks is enough.”

Adeyemi linked up with United’s squad at Thorp Arch yesterday having put the finishing touches to his move from Cardiff late on Monday evening.

The midfielder arrived more than two weeks into Rosler’s fitness programme and the United boss said: “We have to get him fit. He won’t play (tonight).

“Tom has a different plan. He’s at a different stage of his pre-season and he’ll play some part on Tuesday against Frankfurt.”

Tonight’s match at York is Leeds’ second of the summer and their last in England before they fly out to Austria for a week-long training camp.

The club are due to play Eintracht Frankfurt near Salzburg next Tuesday before travelling on to Norway for a meeting with Hoffenheim on July 25.

Rosler said he would use the time in Austria to speak to his players about their “conduct and responsibilities” following verbal exchanges between Italian defender Giuseppe Bellusci and a number of Leeds supporters during the 1-1 draw at Harrogate on Friday.

Bellusci â€" one of six foreign players who courted controversy after being declared injured shortly before a game at Charlton Athletic last season â€" reacted to booing by sections of the Leeds crowd during his first-half appearance at Wetherby Road.

Rosler said: “I’m coming here with a completely open mind.

“What I said to my coaches is that in the first two-and-a-half weeks before the training camp I’m observing, noticing things.

“In the training camp, when we have enough time, we’ll sit down and speak to the squad about targets for next season, the code of conduct, our responsibilities we have for our club, our supporters and our town.

“At the moment I’m seeing things, noticing things but it will be addressed when we feel it’s the right day.”

Rosler has confirmed that “six or seven” senior players will be involved at Tadcaster, with increasing their amount of minutes on the pitch his main priority ahead of the tour of Austria and Norway.

“People shouldn’t read into the formation too much.” A 1-1 draw at Harrogate Town got United’s pre-season schedule underway on Friday night, and Rosler insists he is happy with the progress his side have made over the summer so far.

“I feel they’re exactly where we want them to be,” he said. “I think Wednesday night will be a harder test. We want our players to play longer, to get more match minutes. “I want to get a good result on Wednesday heading into the last three games we have against top opponents.

“I’m very happy to have these sorts of games because a lot of the qualities we will meet on Wednesday, we will meet against Burnley. “We have to cope with that and we have to express ourselves and play in our own way as well. “I’m looking forward to it because we will get some good answers in both games which we have.”

Berardi er en fotballspiller som kan forbedre seg radikalt fra i fjor. Wootton er ikke det! Det er NAV tendenser i Leeds, når de gir spillere som Wootton og Murphy så lange kontrakter.

Satt live og så Berardi mot Harry Bunn (Huddersfield) på Elland Road i høst. Da var han rundingsbøye til han ble sendt i dusjen. Får håpe han har tatt noen steg.

Sesong vi rykket opp fra League 1 hadde vi en elendig pre season. Så pre season er ikke alltid så lett tyde. Ser at folk glemmer fort ;)

ja då gjorde vi en bra insats mot York, och burnley har bl a förlorat i preseason mot accrigton med 4-2, och torsk mot chesterfield 2-3, detta ser bra ut ;)
