Leeds are expected to bring in four or five new faces with Sheffield United's Paul Ifill and Oldham Athletic's winger Chris Taylor believed to have been watched by Wise's staff with a view to bringing some much-needed width and pace to the squad.
Ifill's Blades team-mates Steven Kabba, David Unsworth and Chris Lucketti have also been linked with a possible move to Elland Road, along with Celtic midfielder Alan Thompson.
Wise steadfastly refuses to discuss the identity of his targets but there is no doubt whoever does arrive in the next few weeks will be stepping into a relegation battle.
