United striker's four week goal
Leeds United striker Leon Constantine is targeting a return to training next month.
Constantine is entering the final stages of his recovery from an ankle injury, and manager Dennis Wise is hoping to see him link up with the rest of United's squad in four weeks' time.
The former Port Vale striker has not featured for Leeds since damaging his ankle during the club's pre-season friendly against Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic, and he received a two-year contract from Wise while on the treatment table four days before the start of the League One campaign.
United's boss said: "I should hopefully have him back in four weeks, fingers crossed.
"He's very important to me."
Constantine was expected to be a first-choice striker at Elland Road this season after scoring 26 goals for Port Vale last year, but a combination of his ankle injury and the prolific form of Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford is likely to see him occupy a place on the bench when he returns to full fitness.
Norwegian striker Tore Andre Flo has also found himself relegated to a substitute's role after a succession of foot injuries, and Wise said: "Tore has to wait because knows about the two up front.
"He thinks they're unbelievable."

United striker Leon can't wait to start
The name of Liberec used to mean nothing to Leon Constantine, but the start of the striker's employment with Leeds United has been a legacy of his only visit to the Czech city.
United's Leon Constantine shrugs off the challenge from Petr KratkyConstantine may never see Liberec again, but he will not forget it easily.
Three months ago he entered the city with a spring in his step, midway through United's pre-season programme.
By the time he left, Constantine was carrying a broken ankle and a pair of crutches. Dennis Wise will count himself fortunate if the forward is ready to resume training before the start of November.
The tackle that injured Constantine in July, during United's friendly against Slovan Liberec, was almost innocuous.
The 29-year-old cannot even remember being touched.
But the resulting damage caused extreme physical pain and prolonged mental anguish, the pre-season set-back which every player dreads.
Constantine has become the forgotten member of Wise's newly-formed pack, but his tunnel of rehabilitation is beginning to show a sliver of light.
Last week, Wise admitted that the forward could be available in four weeks' time, and Constantine's return is in his club's interest as much as his own. United's first-choice strikers have already scored 11 goals between them but it will not disappoint Wise to see a forward who struck 26 times last season stepping onto his bench.
"Each X-ray seems to be a bit more positive than the last, and the injury's getting better and better," Constantine said. "I can see a bit of light at last, and that keeps your spirit up.
"I've been quite lucky with injuries, and it happens to everyone.
"The most important thing was that it's wasn't career-threatening, but I still can't believe the way it happened.
"Their player didn't even catch me, or if he did then I don't remember feeling it at the time.
"As soon as I went down I could tell that something wasn't right, but I didn't think it was broken and I'd never have thought it would take this long to heal.
"You have your days when you feel low, and I'm a bit jealous about the fact that they're all out there and I'm not.
"But I've been made to feel part of everything anyway, and that's what I find special about this place.
"At some clubs, when you get injured you're no longer important. It's like you no longer exist.
"But every day I come in here I've got people checking on me and asking me how I'm doing. The manager most of all.
"We're a big family, and that's the bottom line for everything that's happening.
"It's why I'm pleased I came here, and why the results have been so good.

Could Leon Constantine lead Leeds United back to the promised land?
He scored 26 goals for Port Vale last season but has yet to make his debut for the Elland Road club. League One beware - Dennis Wise is almost ready to release his new secret weapon.
'The abuse at Port Vale clearly affected Constantine, who said at the time: 'I have never been at a club where I have scored goals and heard the crowd boo' Leon Constantine's first few months at Leeds United could hardly have been more frustrating, both for the player and the club. After announcing he was to leave Port Vale at the end of last season, Leon was linked with a number of clubs, but agreed a contract in principle with Leeds whilst the club was still in administration.
He was one of the group of players who paid out of his own pocket to take part in the pre-season programme in uncertain times for everyone connected with the club. By the time Constantine officially signed for United on their exit from administration, the player had incurred a complex ankle injury in the friendly at Slovan Liberec which would keep him out of the team's 13-match unbeaten League One start.
The 29-year-old Londoner made his first and only appearance for Millwall in September 2000. After undertaking brief loan spells at Leyton Orient and Partick Thistle, he moved to Brentford in August 2002. But after failing to establish himself, he joined Southend United a year later, and began to show his true capabilities.
The 6ft 2in marksman hit 21 goals in his first and only season before rejecting a new contract and moving to Peterborough United. After only 11 games, yielding one goal, Constantine joined Torquay United in December 2004 for a club-record fee of £75,000.
After 42 games producing 10 goals, he was on the move once more, this time to Port Vale, where he hit a rich vein of form. Last season he became the first Vale player to score 18 goals prior to Christmas. Despite finishing the season with 26 goals in all competitions, he became a target of the boo-boys, who questioned his overall work rate. The abuse clearly affected Constantine, who said at the time: 'I have never been at a club where I have scored goals and heard the crowd boo.'
He decided to seek pastures new, and Leeds boss Dennis Wise made his move.
To date Leon's career has been filled with ups and downs, success and failure in equal measure. However, his strike rate at both Southend United and Port Vale speaks for itself, 115 games producing 53 goals overall. The early-season form of Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford, added to the performances of the team as a whole, have reduced the pressure on the Leeds backroom staff to rush Constantine into the fray.
However, he is now stepping up his training regime and his official first-team debut does not look too far away, providing some healthy competition up front. League One run for cover, Wise is about to add another weapon to his artillery.
