Ex-folk i Swansea

Kamp 14/9:
LATE SHOW SEALS WIN
Swansea left it late but eventually hit back to claim their first home league win of the season by beating Carlisle 2-1.
The visitors had led through Danny Graham's penalty early in the second half, but Darryl Duffy and Paul Anderson netted in the space of two minutes to seal the win.
The Cumbrians went into a surprise lead just after the restart when Leon Britton brought down Jeff Smith in the area and up strode substitute Graham to silence the home crowd with a coolly taken spot-kick.
Although Swansea's play particularly down the flanks was fast and furious, their front duo of Duffy and Jason Scotland rarely threatened the visitors' goal.
Swansea boss Roberto Martinez gambled as the game went into its closing stages by taking off a defender and throwing on another attacker and the plan worked as Carlisle keeper Kieren Westwood spilled a long shot and Duffy was in quickly to score from an angle.
One minute later the comeback was complete when substitute Paul Anderson sent the home fans wild, but the Swans must learn that ruthless finishing must go along with their swift passing game if they are to get out of this division.

WE'RE LEEDS AND PROUD!!!
Matt Heath: Culture of trust key to Leeds United's winning start
Matt Heath believes a culture of trust among the staff and players at Elland Road has underpinned Leeds United's remarkable response to the worst season in the club's history.
Leeds have the chance to match a 34-year-old record this weekend after protecting their 100 per cent start to the League
One term at Bristol Rovers on Friday night, and Heath is relishing the up-turn in fortune after witnessing the loss of United's Championship status last term.
United won only 13 league matches during the 2006-07 season, but Dennis Wise's players are already halfway to eclipsing that figure after just six games of the present campaign.
A seventh straight victory over Swansea City at Elland Road on Saturday would equal the club's best ever start to a league season - set in 1973 at the beginning of Don Revie's final year in charge of Leeds - and could leave United three points short of League One's play-off positions, six weeks after starting the season with a 15-point deficit.
Their results have vindicated the extensive clear-out of players from Elland Road during the summer, a cull which reached doubled figures after Leeds were relegated from the Championship, and Heath claimed the change of personnel was responsible for United's renaissance.
The defender said: "He's got his own players now, and players he can maybe trust a little bit more.
"The people who are in the team are the people he wants to be there, and we're playing our hearts out because we've got faith in him.
"Last season was difficult. There wasn't a lack of effort or hard work, and a lot of people were genuinely trying their best to get the club out of trouble, but we couldn't make excuses. It wasn't good enough and we all knew that. Something had to change.
"We're going to try and correct that this season by getting straight back up there, and we couldn't have had a better start.
"There's room for improvement, but you can always say that. We can't be disappointed with six wins, and I don't think we're playing badly. But the manager will keep us working on the training ground and I'm sure he's not completely happy with aspects of our performances.
"There are a few creases to iron out but you look forward to doing that when things are going well. You want every game to come as quickly as possible, and I think that's the difference between this season and last.
"It's nice to come into training on a Monday morning knowing that you've put another win on the board. That didn't happen very often last season, and it didn't happen enough.
"At the moment, we're working towards every game with a buzz in the air. This is a ball that's rolling, and it's rolling in a good direction. Every result is adding to that. The momentum is getting bigger week-by-week, and there's a lot of incentive to keep it going."
Heath has completed all eight of United's league and Carling Cup fixtures this season, due in part to the absence of a second-choice centre-back before Paul Huntington completed his moved to Leeds from Newcastle last month, and was an influential presence at Bristol Rovers on Friday, but the quality of the club's defensive record has been pushed from view by the performance of their strikers, Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford.
Beckford's brace secured Friday's 3-0 victory at the Memorial Stadium, which lifted Leeds off the bottom of League One, and Kandol claimed his fifth goal of the season at a crucial stage in the second half. The pair have already produced 10 league goals this term.
Rovers' manager Paul Trollope admitted the difference in quality between the respective strikeforces on offer to him and Wise had been crucial, but United's defensive statistics are no less impressive. Friday's clean sheet was their third in succession, and the club have conceded just three times since the start of the League One schedule.
Heath said: "We're putting a lot of hard work in, and we're seeing a tough pre-season paying off.
"The two up front are on fire, and as long as they keep sticking the goals in then we'll be happy. But I think everyone is contributing to our results at the moment.
"We're probably riding our luck here and there, but some of that is down to very good defending - a few last ditch challenges, and a lot of effort and resilience. We're not conceding many goals, and it's all a recipe for success.
"But six wins isn't a reason to take anything for granted and we can't really mention it (promotion) at the moment. We'd be getting ahead of ourselves if we did."
Rovers had constructed a run of five league games without defeat before Friday's fixture, but
Trollope was magnanimous in the aftermath and admitted he did not expected United's surge to end quickly.
Trollope said: "Our unbeaten run was going to come to an end some time, and it happened against a very good side.
"I think Leeds will catch up and be up amongst it at the end of the season. They have quality in their strikers that we haven't come up against for a while, and they made their chances count."

Allen and Bodde miss Robins clash
Swansea starlet Joe Allen is ruled out of the trip to Cheltenham after he limped out of Friday night's win over Carlisle with an ankle injury.
The 17-year-old midfielder enjoyed his first league start for the club, although the problem is not as bad as first feared and he could be back to face Leeds at the weekend.
Fellow midfielder Ferrie Bodde serves the final game of his three-match ban.
Left-back Marcos Painter is edging closer to a return following three weeks out with a foot injury, and will be assessed closer to kick-off.
Darren Way (shin) and Owain Tudur-Jones are still unavailable, but the midfield duo have been pencilled in for a reserve run-out on Wednesday night.
Defender Alan Tate (knee) is expected to be out for another month.

Allen Could Return For Leeds Trip
Roberto Martinez has received a boost this week with the news that Joe Allen could return as early as next weekend to face Leeds United.
The youngster suffered an injury during Friday night's game at home to Carlisle as he made his full League debut.
Martinez said:
'It's a lot better than we thought,''
'Thankfully it's not ligament damage.
'He took three or four hard challenges and is very sore, but we are only looking at three or four days maximum before he can return to training. He could even be available for selection against Leeds.''
Ferrie Bodde also returns for the Leeds game after a 3-match ban.

Swans hit back to beat Robins
Second-half goals turn game in visitors' favour
Swansea City moved up to fourth in League One by coming from behind to win 2-1 at Cheltenham Town.
Cheltenham had taken an early lead at Whaddon Road, but fell to defeat after two second-half goals from the visitors.
Young striker Ashley Vincent poached his second goal of the season to put the hosts in front after just four minutes.
But Swansea's summer signing Jason Scotland continued his impressive start to the campaign by scoring his sixth goal for the club five minutes into the second half.
The winner arrived on 69 minutes when Andy Robinson scored to send Swansea rocketing up the table.

Bad Boy Bodde Back to Bust Leeds
Watch out Leeds because Swansea's bad boy Bodde is returning from a three match suspension and this time he means business.
Swansea City midfielder Ferrie Bodde has vowed to learn from his mistakes and make up for lost time at Leeds United on Saturday.
The Dutch star is set to return from a three-match ban after being sent-off against Doncaster three weeks ago for head butting an opponent.
With Robinson and Britton already deemed unavailable due to hamstring related injuries, Bodde's return to action is a welcome boost for the Swans.
But Leeds have won all six of their opening games and a seventh would equal the club's best ever start to a league season - set in 1973.
Ferrie Bodde said:
"It was extremely frustrating to miss the last three games."
"I've only ever been sent off twice in my career and that was my first straight red."
"I've never done anything as stupid as that before and I've made a promise to my team-mates and the gaffer not to do it again."
"I've never felt so bad in my career because I let everyone down."
"Yes, I was being wound up by the opposing player, but my reaction was not good."
"But I've got to forget it now and just learn from the experience."
Roberto Martinez said:
"At the moment there couldn't be a bigger or better test for us."
"Not because of Leeds proud history, but because of the form they are in with six straight wins."
"The performance has to be of the highest standard, showing the same character and commitment as our last two games."
"Only then will the result follow because if we are not ready to fight and battle, then we won't be able to play our own football."
"Leeds have had a great start to the season."
"They probably felt that the whole world was against them when they had those 15 points deducted at the start of the season, but they've used that to their advantage."
"They are a very well organized side; don't leave themselves exposed too often and are very good at set pieces."
"They've also got six or seven players with Premiership experience who make the right decisions most of the time.

Thursday 20 September
9.07am - Swansea striker Darryl Duffy gives an interview to www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk about Saturday's game at Elland Road claiming both clubs will be League One's title contenders.
United v Swans could be a title decider! One of Darryl Duffy's most vivid footballing memories is of the European Cup draw which brought together Leeds United and Rangers 15 years ago.
At the age of eight, the young Ibrox fanatic was so taken by the drama of the two-legged tie that he channelled his pocket money into buying a video commemorating Rangers' 4-2 aggregate victory.
The recording was lost long ago, but Duffy has not forgotten the respected force that Leeds once were. He will, however, come to Elland Road with Swansea City this weekend with the conviction that both clubs on show are mere shadows of their potential, and the leading lights in League One.
Saturday's game is not quite the 'Battle of Britain', as the meeting between United and Rangers in 1992 was predictably termed, but Duffy believes it may have the makings of a League One title contest.
Expectation is rife in Leeds, but the residents of southern Wales are not easily satisfied, and after two narrow failures to win promotion to the Championship, City hope their time has come.
Ending United's passage of six successive wins â€" the only perfect record in English football â€" would tempt others to think the same.
"This is our biggest game of the season, without a doubt," said Duffy. "There's a lot of talk and expectation surrounding Leeds but the Swansea fans are expecting big things from us, and we know that we're one of the clubs being tipped to go up.
"Swansea opened their new stadium a couple of years ago, and the potential down here is massive. We've got a strong squad and an excellent manager, and I think there's a feeling that we've maybe outgrown this division.
"That doesn't mean that we'll get promotion this season, but it means we should be aiming for it. Leeds are in the same boat and they're serious contenders now, if not favourites to win the league. Saturday is a massive game between two ambitious clubs.
"Elland Road's a fantastic stadium, and it's actually strange to think that I'm going there in League One. I'm a Rangers fan, and one of my favourite memories as a boy was the 'Battle of Britain' in the Champions League. They were special games â€" the sort of games that come around once in a blue moon â€" and I enjoyed them so much that I went out and bought the double video afterwards.
"I've lost it now, but I can remember the best moments â€" Gary McAllister's goal at Ibrox, and Ally McCoist's diving header at Elland Road.
"It was a surprise to me to see Leeds fall into the Championship, and dropping down to this level was completely unthinkable.
But their form is unbelievable at the moment, and we'll need a top-class performance to win there."
Swansea's confidence will be strengthened by their sizeable advantage over Leeds in the League One table, and it is only now that the value of United's 15-point penalty to other clubs in the division is becoming truly apparent.
City are seven points clear of Dennis Wise's squad, despite contrasting United's perfect statistics with their own record of three wins from six games, and without the intervention of the Football League, Leeds would be sitting eight points ahead of the Welsh club. A seventh straight win on Saturday would have put United well beyond Roberto Martinez's sight, at least in the short term.
Martinez has felt a degree of strain this season, and back-to-back victories over Carlisle and Cheltenham have come at a convenient time for him.
Swansea passed up the chance to qualify for the play-offs on the final day of last season, and were beaten by Barnsley in the final 12 months earlier. Success has been close enough to touch, but too far away for City to realise.
Duffy, a former Rangers and Falkirk striker, joined Swansea on loan from Hull City in March, and made the transfer permanent in May.
He signed with the assurance that City would bid again for entry into the Championship this season and, despite their ponderous start, Tuesday night's 2-1 win at Cheltenham moved the club into fourth position.
"It's a very big season for us, and we know what we're aiming for," Duffy said. "Our results have been a little bit mixed so far, but our performances have been excellent. We're playing some really nice stuff and we've set quite high standards for the rest of the season. The fans will expect more of the same, so it's a bit of a rod for our own backs.
"The margin for error in this league seems pretty small. We were down in mid-table a couple of weeks back, but two victories have lifted us up to fourth. It's going to be very competitive and Leeds are proof of that. Their 15-point deduction seemed like a big problem at the time, but they've gone through it so quickly.
"Six wins on the bounce is superb form and they deserve all the praise they're getting. I think a lot of people have got one eye on them."
Swansea have selection problems ahead of Saturday's clash after midfielders Leon Britton and Andy Robinson were sidelined by injuries sustained at Cheltenham, but Dutchman Ferrie Bodde is available to Martinez after a three-match ban.
Martinez's players are between Wise and a small piece of history, with Leeds a single victory short of the club's best ever start to a season, but Duffy said: "Their run can't continue forever.
"It's been very impressive so far, and it would be incredible if it went much further.
"They'll obviously fancy their chances, but it's a four-hour journey for our supporters from Swansea and I hope we'll make it worth their while."

MARTINEZ SET FOR TOUGHEST TEST OF ALL
Roberto Martinez comes face to face with old pal Gus Poyet at Leeds tomorrow believing Swansea City will not face a tougher test all season.Poyet was a senior pro when Martinez was a youngster coming through the ranks at Real Zaragoza in the early 1990s.
They will be reunited at Elland Road, where former Uruguay star Poyet is assistant boss to ex-England player Dennis Wise.
And Martinez has warned his team that the two ex-Chelsea midfielders will send out a side primed to chalk up a club-record equalling seventh straight victory.
"I played with Gus at Zaragoza," smiled the Swansea boss, "and I think you would have got long odds then on us being in opposite dugouts in League One now.
"Gus is a winner and I know he will pass that on now he is a coach.
"He has had a very, very successful career and he will have a huge influence on the Leeds players.
"The way he is, and the way Dennis Wise is, they'll treat every game as a final.
"They'll make sure everyone knows they won't accept second best and they'll not allow anyone to underachieve.
"And the fact that they come into this game with six straight wins behind them means Leeds will have even more belief. I can guarantee you it's going to be a massive test for us."
Martinez's plans for Swansea's first trip to Leeds since a Second Division encounter in 1984 have been badly hampered by injuries to first-choice wingers Andy Robinson and Leon Britton.
But Tom Butler and Paul Anderson stand by for first league starts of the campaign, while Ferrie Bodde is expected to return in central midfield after suspension.
With no sign of Martinez landing the centre-back he craves, Marcos Painter for Kevin Austin looks like being the only switch in defence.
Leeds, meantime, look like being unchanged from their 3-0 triumph at Bristol Rovers last weekend, a win which saw them climb off the foot of the League One table.
Relegated from the Championship last season, the 2001 Champions League semi-finalists were controversially forced to start the season on -15 points after breaking the Football League's insolvency rules.
But rather than feeling sorry for themselves, Wise's team have started the campaign so spectacularly that they are now firm favourites to win the title.
"I always felt the points penalty could help them if they accepted the situation in the right way," Martinez added.
"They've got that feeling that the world's against them and they also have a very, very powerful squad.
"They have seven or eight players with Premiership experience, and they have strikers in Jermaine Beckford and Tresor Kandol who are enjoying a honeymoon period. Together all that is winning them games and, given the form they're in, this is difficult a game as you could have in our division."
Their start to the season has been much less dramatic, but Swansea do head north on the back of three successive wins and Martinez has ruled out the idea of playing for a point.
"What we want, as always, is a good performance," he said.
"We want to go there and do ourselves justice and then the result will follow."
A crowd approaching the current capacity of 31,500 is expected, with more than 2,500 Swansea fans heading for Leeds.
Vetch Field legend Alan Curtis, who also had a spell at Leeds, goes back to Elland Road this weekend for only the second time having rejoined Swansea's coaching staff.
"It's a massive club," he said, "and I've spoken to our players about how much they should look forward to it.
"They have made a fantastic start to the season, but you only have to watch our lads train to see how much talent there is here too."

FERRIE INSISTS: I WANT TO DITCH THAT 'RED-CARD MAN' REPUTATION
Ferrie Bodde is vowing to ditch his "red-card man" reputation starting at Leeds United tomorrow. The classy midfielder returns at Elland Road from a three-match ban having had three weeks to stew over what he describes as the worst moment of his career.
With Swansea City leading Doncaster 1-0 and heading for victory on September 1, Bodde saw red for a butt on Brian Stock.
Around half an hour later, his team-mates joined him in the dressing room having been beaten 2-1.
Bodde held his hands up, accepting a fine and a slap on the wrists from his manager.
But the player billed as the Dutch Roy Keane disputes the suggestion that he was a sending-off waiting to happen.
Bodde insists that contrary to some reports, disciplinary problems have not dogged him throughout his career.
"Everybody thinks that I am the red-card man, but that is only the second time I've been sent off and the first time ever it's been a straight red,'' he says.
"My only other red card was for two yellows, one for a normal tackle and one for standing in front of the ball (at a free-kick).
"I don't know why they call me the Dutch Roy Keane.
"It must be for picking up yellow cards, because I've never done something stupid like I did against Doncaster before."
He has taken his punishment, but Bodde is still keen to mount something of a defence following his flashpoint with Rovers midfielder Brian Stock.
"A lot of things happened in that game," he adds.
"They tried to wind me up and I have to learn that people want to catch you out.
"I heard on the TV after the game that Ferrie Bodde had started it, but it actually started in the first minute when I got a kick on my ankle.
"Then there was another later in the first half, then at the start of the second half there was an elbow in my stomach.
"The ref told me to keep smiling each time, and I was wondering why he hadn't done anything about it.
"The fourth time I was on the ground and their player was standing on my knee. I held him, then I thought he was going to bounce his head against mine and what I did was a reaction. It was a small touch, but the ref sent me off."
Immediately, as 11,000 pairs of eyes watched him trudge down the tunnel, Bodde was filled with regret.
"As soon as it happened I felt bad," he goes on.
"We were the best side at that point, we were getting close to a second goal.
"Then I went off and not long afterwards Doncaster had equalised.
"I've never felt so bad in my football career as I did then.
"I said sorry to my team-mates and to the gaffer, and I'm also sorry to the fans. I know my reaction wasn't good."
Martinez is backing Bodde to learn from his error, and the Spaniard needs him to do just that.
Because Bodde's butt did not only leave Swansea a man down for 28 minutes against Doncaster, it left them without arguably their player of the season so far for the next three matches.
The 25-year-old, signed in the close season from Den Haag, looks a bargain at £50,000, but not when he is sat in the stands.
A frustrated spectator, Bodde will do his best not to be dismissed again.
"I cannot say that I will never get sent off again, you can't say 100 per cent because humans react," he adds.
"But I have learned my lesson. I know I have to control myself and I think I can do that.
" I have to do that, because I promised the gaffer and the rest of the lads that it will not happen again."
The playmaker's only fear is that the reputation he insists is not warranted has already spread too far.
Word may have travelled to other clubs that Doncaster riled him successfully, while officials may be expecting Bodde to do wrong from the start.
"I read on the internet that people think I'm a crazy guy on the pitch," he continues.
"Maybe referees read these things too and are looking out for me, I don't know.
"But I'm not crazy. I want only to win, I don't want to do stupid things, and I'm hoping that in my next game I can start afresh."
Perhaps Leeds, with a manager notorious for spikiness in the shape of Dennis Wise, are not ideal opposition for the comeback.
Assuming he starts - which he surely must do on the strength of his pre-suspension form - Bodde may be singled out for special attention by Wise, the wind-up merchant.
Whatever, he is not concerned.
"Leeds are a big club with a big stadium and it will be a nice game to play in if I'm picked," Bodde says.
"I have heard of Dennis Wise - I think he is known as a terrier.
"If he wants to wind me up, let him do it. I can behave well.'

LEEDS v SWANSEA
Leeds' seemingly inexorable rise to the top of the table will be tested to the full by Swansea City who are coming in to form. A midweek win at Cheltenham has lifted the Swans to fourth and ensured they have two wins on the road already.
Nevertheless, they will face a Leeds outfit brimming with confidence after six straight wins, which has wiped out their points deficit and left them with three in the bank. Another win against Swansea will lift them into mid-table and make life look a lot easier.
But assistant manager Gus Poyet has moved to quell expectations in Yorkshire after sounding a caveat. "Promotion was the idea when we got relegated but someone told me the other day that every single team that got points deducted has gone down," Poyet said.
"At the moment we're okay but it's going to be mean if we make 92 points, which would probably make us champions, and because of the 15 points you maybe end up in the play-offs.
"You need a very, very good season. Let's see if we can do it. But first let's get safe and make history about being the team not to go down with a points deduction and then let's see if we've got eight or ten games to make the rest of the points."
Tresor Kandol, at his eighth club in nine years, has pledged his future to the club in another boost for Dennis Wise. "Right now I think I've found the right club - a big club that's looking to move forward," he said. "I don't want to go anywhere. I've moved around too much, and it's time to settle down. I want to get on with what I've got to do.
"This club looks after the players, and the manager does as well. I have an understanding with him, and that's the sort of thing that wants to make you stay." Swansea have Darren Way and Owain Tudur-Jones edging their way back to fitness after lengthy absences as well so the outlook is bright at Liberty Way.
CLARKY'S VERDICT: Swansea have come from behind to win three times this season but Leeds will have too much for them and record their seventh straight win of the campaign.

United skipper sits out Swans clash
LEEDS United boss Dennis Wise is resisting the temptation to rush skipper Alan Thompson back into the first team.
Thompson has been sidelined with a groin injury in recent weeks and will again sit it out when unbeaten Leeds host Swansea City at Elland Road tomorrow. The midfielder could be back in full training next week.
Said Wise: "Thommo is not going to be fit. He's still struggling with his groin.
"He's not a million miles away, but it's one where if you risk him it could be another couple of weeks.
"He knows what the right thing is and so do we. He needs to build his groin up."
There are no other new injury problems for the United boss as his team chase their seventh successive victory in Coca-Cola League One.
The long-term sick list includes midfielder Shaun Derry (heel) and striker Leon Constantine (ankle).
"Everyone else is fine," said Wise. "Tore Andre Flo is training and we'll get him F***er by the week."

THE ONE AND ONLY - PETER HOT SHOT LORIMER
Leeds United stand to equal an old record tomorrow, one that I was involved in setting, and nothing would please me more than to see them do it. Some 34 years have passed since Leeds began the season with seven straight victories, and the way that Dennis Wise's players are performing suggests that feat will be repeated against Swansea City this weekend.
The Elland Road bandwagon keeps on rolling, and tomorrow's game is another one that Leeds will want to take full advantage of. Swansea are a very good side â€" in fact, they'll want promotion themselves this season â€" but United are unlikely to be intimidated by anyone this season. With six straight wins behind them, the squad at Leeds should be aware of their capabilities and full of belief.
This is not the time to pile pressure on Dennis but, from the a supporter's perspective, it's difficult to resist the feeling that United are good enough to get themselves back into the Championship this season. With 40 games to go there is a huge margin for both success and error, and it's a little premature at this stage to make any definite predictions, but I very much doubt that Dennis is finished yet.
We should, however, appreciate fully the job done so far, and talking blindly about promotion overlooks the effort that has gone into getting the club into such a promising position in the first place. Yes, we are all feeling very optimistic about the future, but let's not forget the achievements of the last few weeks.
It's nice to be able to dream about the top six, but the one certainty is that Leeds would have next to no chance of going up if the club weren't in the position that they are now. It's only because of the outstanding results produced by the players that we can even begin to discuss how far this squad can go.
You can see the confidence oozing from the players, and that's a sign of a club who are riding the crest of a wave. Dennis clearly had an idea about the type of spirit he wanted at Elland Road, and it's increasingly obvious that producing that spirit was impossible until the dead wood he inherited last year was cleared out. I don't think he will have been 100 per cent happy with every performance this season, and it would be wrong to say that Leeds have been impressive in all six of their games. But he will be 100 per cent happy with the workrate, the commitment and the application of his players. He will also be 100 per cent happy with the results.
We can discuss performances all day long, but the more important statistic is that Leeds have collected 18 points from a possible 18. You won't ever find a manager anywhere who would complain about that.
I certainly think that Jose Mourinho would have settled for similar results this season. I said 10 days ago that I thought he'd be heading down the road from Chelsea soon â€" so to speak â€" because the situation at Stamford Bridge was clearly impossible.

Report: Leeds 2 Swansea 0
LEEDS United recorded a seventh consecutive League One win against Swansea City and in doing so equalled the club's best ever start to a season.
Goals from Jermaine Beckford - his sixth of the season - and David Prutton were enough to secure a thoroughly deserved 2-0 win against the Swans.
It equalled the achievement of Don Revie's championship winning side at the start of the 1973-4 season and lifts them out of the relegation zone and up into 18th place.
Beckford struck on 62 minutes with a low drive after a free-kick by winger Sebastien Carole, and just four minutes later, Prutton doubled United's advantage with a thumping 25-yard effort - his first for the club.
The victory was watched by a crowd of 29,467 - yet another high for the season at Elland Road.
Leeds are now on six points having shrugged off their handicap of the 15-point penalty imposed by the Football League at the start of the season and are now 18th in the table with a goal difference of 13 - easily the best in the division.

Lacklustre Swans Loose At Leeds
It was billed as the toughest encounter of the season with an all star premiership line-up as Swansea travelled north to meet the might of Leeds United.
Swans fans held their breath with a heavy expectation as their team went face to face with a ex-premiership squad in front of 30,000 supporters.
For around one hour, Swansea bravely met the oncoming Leeds onslaught and even managed a few fruitless attempts at goal.
But has many anticipated, the seemingly unstoppable Leeds train stormed their way through the Swansea defence and achieved their seventh win of the season.
Swansea manager Roberto Martinez says he wouldn't swap his squad and is proud of the effort given by his team.
Roberto Martinez said:
"We didn't play as well as we can."
"But perhaps that's a bit harsh on my players because we kept them quiet for over an hour and I thought the game was quite open."
"Slowly we were getting into a position where we could hurt Leeds and the boys can take a huge compliment from that."
"I thought the boys coped very well until we conceded the goal and even then they showed a never-say-die attitude as we created a very clear chance for Warren Feeney."
"As a team our defensive position was fine. If we want to be a bit harsh, I thought we have been a lot better on the ball. I think every single performance we've had this season we've been a lot better."
"Apart from the set piece there was nothing in the game and the longer it goes the more in favour it would have been for us."
"That's why it was so disappointing to concede the opening goal from our corner."
"Yes we need to learn the little lessons from today, but it was always going to be difficult to come to Elland Road."
"Leeds depend a lot on two players and through a long, long, season anything can happen."
"Injuries and suspensions can play a big part, so we are certainly not all playing for second place with such a long way to go."
"For example, you've got to remember that we had three players out today with a lot of experience and games under their belts."
"But at the moment Leeds are using the momentum. I don't think they need to be pretty to be effective - and the fans are happy with that."
"The points deduction is helping them because everyone is getting together and it doesn't matter how you get the result it's good enough for the fans."
"I do believe that Leeds are probably the team to beat at the moment, but it's a long season and I certainly wouldn't swap the squads."
Dennis Wise said:
"I can't ask for no more from them."
"They did fantastic. The performance was the best so far this season. It was an all-round performance."
"We knew how to deal with them and we did it well, and we scored two good goals as well."
"Seven wins is fantastic, but we should be on 21 points. We've done well and we have six points on the board."
"With what we've done we shouldn't be where we are in the table."
"We should be a few points clear, but unfortunately we're in a scrap down at the bottom first. We've done well, but we know we have to get the results first."
"Our first target is to get safety, and we have to take it a game at a time. We're looking to catch the next group and we can easily be dragged back into there if we don't get the results."
"I'm very pleased, but no one will be getting carried away. We're looking no further than the next game."

Gr-eight Leeds sink Swans
Leeds extended their 100% record with a comfortable 2-0 victory against visiting Swansea to record a club-record eight straight wins.
Elland Road's biggest crowd of the season saw the hosts do the damage with second-half strikes in quick succession from Jermaine Beckford and David Prutton.
The Swans had began well, Thomas Butler drilling a right-foot shot in from 18-yard but Leeds keeper Casper Ankergren was on hand to snuff out the danger. Sebastian Carole volleyed a right-footed effort over the crossbar from an inswinging Jamie Clapham corner as Leeds responded but Ankergren was called into action again when Ferrie Bodde drilled in an 18-yard effort.
Tresor Kandol watched his 20-yard strike come back off the woodwork as the first-half came to a close on a frustrating note for Leeds.
The second half saw the home side press but Beckford had to wait until the hour mark to break the deadlock, drilling a right-foot strike into the bottom right-hand corner. Within five minutes it was two as Prutton converted a low drive into the bottom corner from just outside the Swansea box.
Frazer Richardson fired wide from 12 yards as Leeds looked to add some gloss to the scoreline while Warren Feeney came of the bench for the visitors but was denied by a fine stop from Ankergren.

Seventh heaven for Leeds United
Promotion is the elephant in Dennis Wise's dressing room, but the city of Leeds can think about nothing else.
As sensible as Wise may be to cling to caution, he is clutching at straws if he expects others to do the same.
Leeds United's first victory of the season at Tranmere brought forth a chant from their supporters claiming the club would win League One's title; after seven successive victories, Wise's fight to rein in expectation is nothing more than a losing battle.
United claimed their seventh win of the season yesterday, equalling in the process the club's finest ever start to a season produced by Don Revie's first division champions of 1974.
The importance of the record has been lost on Wise, who is reluctant to concern himself with bygone eras at Elland Road, and the historical significance was of less importance than the conviction with which Leeds swept aside a talented Swansea City team.
That United extended their sequence of success was an achievement in itself, but it mattered more that the record was matched by their most impressive performance of the season.
Wise's players have not always been as good as their results this term, but there was no dispute with the scoreline yesterday.
Even a disagreement over the manner of Leeds' opening goal could not protect Swansea from the fact that a comfortable defeat was all Robert Martinez's side had deserved.
Two goals in the space of four second-half minutes earned Leeds their victory, the first coming after Sebastien Carole had quietly moved a free-kick from the left-hand touchline to within feet of the edge of the box.
His cut-back was volleyed home by Jermaine Beckford, who claimed his sixth goal of what has been a wonderful personal season to date, and the strike left Martinez incensed.
Leeds, however, were worth their lead and more, and a searing striker from David Prutton quickly put the result beyond doubt.
City seemed somewhat intimidated by both their hosts and the surroundings yesterday, but the goals came just as the visitors appeared to have weathered the worst of United's pressure. Leeds, though, have developed a talent for forcing goals, and the victory suited their display.
Having sat at the bottom of the League One table just nine days ago, Wise can now consider his next move from 18th in the division.
The first half belonged to Leeds, but not convincingly enough to provide them with the lead.
United could not have gone much closer than Tresor Kandol's strike against the post, or a header from Manuel Rui Marques which Swansea goalkeeper Dorus De Vries clawed off his goalline, but a controlled display of sporadic dominance from Wise's players went unrewarded before the interval.
Kandol's chance came with eight minutes of the half remaining, and 60 seconds after referee Graham Laws had resisted a worthwhile claim for a penalty from Prutton.
The former Southampton midfielder appeared to have his legs taken from under him amid a crowd of three Swansea players, but he was immediately alert to space on the left wing and fed a pass to Kandol inside the box.
Kandol's finish from an awkward angle rolled towards the far side of De Vries' net but caught the inside of the post. The rebound favoured Swansea and allowed the visitors to retain parity with a desperate clearance.
City had earlier relied on De Vries to keep out Marques' effort, a header from Carole's cross which the keeper flicked away with his fingertips, and United were free to control the game against a Swansea side who planned to counter-attack and never allowed themselves to be drawn away from those tactics.
The threat to Leeds came solely from ambitious shots from long range, none of which gave Casper Ankergren more than routine involvement. On the one occasion when Wise's defence lost either of Martinez's strikers, in the 23rd minute, Darryl Duffy's instinctive lob lacked accuracy and bounced safely past the post.
Paul Anderson and Ferrer Bodde tested Ankergren from outside his box, but Swansea seemed more likely to succumb to the pace of a fixture which flowed at an impressive speed.
De Vries was beaten by a powerful shot from Andrew Hughes in the 34th minute but saw the strike fade beyond his goal, and he had relied on wayward finishing to protect his clean sheet as early as the ninth minute when Matt Heath's knock-down was stabbed over the crossbar by Carole on the edge of the six-yard area.
Further headers from Prutton and Kandol gave Swansea discomfort before half-time and, having seen his players take their chances with efficiency this season, Wise might have worried about the implications of an encouraging half which had failed to supply them with an advantage.
United's boss had named an unchanged line-up after last week's 3-0 defeat of Bristol City, and the absence of Alan Thompson with a groin injury was notable again.
Wise's midfield was more productive than it had been at the Memorial Stadium but, devoid of Thompson's inevitable flashes of class, their influence shone through only in patches until the game slipped beyond Swansea's reach.
City, however, were timid in front of United's biggest attendance of the season, and the second half seemed to promise Leeds their seventh straight victory.
Beckford attempted to forced the issue two minutes after half-time when his fierce shot was deflected behind by De Vries' body, and Prutton's left-foot effort slipped wide after Swansea had allowed him to run freely along the face of their box.
But after City had shown their hand briefly during a short spell of pressure, Martinez's defence cracked in the 62nd minute.
Jonathan Douglas was fouled on left wing by Angel Rangel, and Carole's clever free-kick into the box found Beckford, who lashed a volley past De Vries.
There was a question over whether Carole had taken the free-kick from the right position, but Swansea had no time to complain.
Four minutes later, Prutton ran onto a loose ball 25 yards from goal and settled the outcome with a screaming finish which flew beyond De Vries before he could react.
Swansea had no energy to respond, and Martinez's players were in danger of being routed.
Their only chance to reduce the deficit fell to Warren Feeney, whose close-range shot was brilliantly parried by Ankergren with the goal at the striker's mercy.
But the outcome was already secure by then, and De Vries was called upon again to block a shot across goal from Beckford and a rare effort from full-back Jamie Clapham, encouraged forward by United's appetite for victory which is currently limitless.

I thought we were highly convincing today!
RATINGS
Ankergren 8: First game I've seen where he was comfortable in all departments (kicking, shotstopping, crosses and coming out).
Richardson 7: Solid
Heath 7.5: Very good
Rui 9: Simply brilliant
Clapham 7: Best game so far though I'm still not totally convinced in him
Carole 7.5: Always a threat
Prutton 9.5 MOM: Brilliant performance, all over the park, energised, fab goal
Hughes 8: Maestro in the centre of midfield
Douglas 5: Awful in first half, looked like his boots had adhesive on them! Won free kick that led to the goal and was quiet thereafter.
Kandol 7: Good first half, quiet 2nd
Beckford 7.5: Quiet first half and played like a typical no9 in the 2nd - greedy! But another scorcher of a goal.
Westlake 7: Solid when came on.
Flo late sub.

Fra Maverick Whites diary;
Leeds Utd 2 Swansea City 0
United equalled the feat of the 1973/74 Championship winning team, by making it a magnificent seven consecutive wins from the opening seven fixtures, as Welsh opposition were at last sent scurrying back to their beloved valleys with nothing to show for their endeavours. United were unchanged from the team that won so handsomely at Bristol last Friday night, and they started the brighter of the two teams, as Carole's early shot failed to trouble visiting De Vries. Andy Hughes saw plenty of ball in the midfield, as did David Prutton who again started out on the right.
Several corners in the first half saw United's aerial threat cause problems for the Swans, as Marques, and Kandol both went close. A rasping long shot from Hughes went narrowly over, and in United's best opportunity of the first period, Kandol saw his shot from an angle beat the keeper, but frustratingly bounce back off the post. Ankergren was rarely called upon, other than to collect the odd hopeful cross into the area. As half time approached the visitors enjoyed their best spell of the half, suggesting their current position of fourth was fully merited with some neat passing movements.
Half time, and for the first time since the opening day of the season, United went in without the benefit of a midway lead.
Leeds started the second half more positively, and for the first time United's two strikers linked together, as Kandol's flick fed Beckford, whose emphatic shot was palmed away by De Vries for a corner. Moments later Prutton fired wide, after he cut inside his defender well.
One of the big positives this season has been the success of set-pieces. Much work appears to have gone in on the training ground, during the week as both corners and free kicks have shown great enterprise and thought, as well as yielding more than the odd goal. On sixty-two minutes it came as no surprise that United finally took the lead, nor was it a surprise that the goal came from another well worked free kick. Following Douglas's wayward run, a free kick was awarded to United just outside the penalty area, down United's left, Seb Carole squared the ball to Beckford, who from ten yards, teed the ball up and volleyed it in passed a gaggle of Swansea defenders. Two minutes later, Carole's main contribution of the afternoon, saw him beat two men down the right, and cross brilliantly for Beckford, but the striker's glancing header was saved well to his right by De Vries.
United fans didn't have long to wait however, as Prutton picked up a loose ball just over twenty yards out, and his low drive just found De Vries' right hand corner, to give the scoreline a fairer reflection. The visitors never gave up, and a splendid block by Rui Marques, not for the first time this season, denied Jason Scotland, and several minutes later a magnificent point blank save from Ankergren, ensured it was going to be clean sheet number four for United.
So the new Leeds United created a little piece of history, their counterparts from 1973/74 went on to lift the football league Championship that particular season, something that may be beyond the current team, given the fifteen point penalty imposed on them by the Football League, or is it ?
Woodini Ratings;
Ankergren - kicking poor, good save late on 6
Richardson - inconsistent 6
Clapham - steady away 6
Rui Marques - absolutely top drawer 8
Heath - improving still, susceptible to the ball over the top when forced to turn 6
Prutton - some excellent input, well taken goal 7
Hughes - never stopped all day, has pace, played simple ball well 7
Carole - involved in goal, but little impression otherwise, possibly better on the right 6
Douglas - apart from one brilliant minute, the weakest link in United's still slightly troublesome midfield 5
Kandol - well marked today, little room to roam, unlucky with shot in first half, work rate again impressive 6
Beckford - another clinical finish from a player growing in confidence 7
Subs;
Westlake - average 6
Flo - on for last two minutes
Referee; Mr.Laws - bit of a homer other than his desire to book United players, the yellow card for Hughes was unfortunate, the yellow for Rui was quite ludicrous.
Flere positive tegn i kampen i går;
