TOTTENHAM VS LEEDS PÃ… BISLETT , JULI 2014
;D Tottenham supporterene blir i hvertfall i mindretall!

Venter nummer to i august.
-

LUFC Leeds Pre-Season Tour Stalemate
Leeds fans are already wishing the current season to a close and are anticipating a wholesale clear out of the current playing squad. Summer will be upon us and the air of expectation is going to be at boiling point as fans see what the ambitious signings the new owner will introduce to the club.
If expectations are met then expect a huge exodus to any pre-season matches either here in the UK or anywhere in Europe.
Massimo Cellino has recently announced to the Media that he would love to take Leeds United to Sardinia for pre-season. This announcement has now left Leeds United fans already drooling from their mouths and reaching for their keyboards to check out the latest flight prices to the Mediterranean Island off the coast of Italy.
However, it is unlikely that Mr Cellino will be welcome in Sardinia with his broken down Ferrari being towed into the nearest garage that doubles up as Cagliari training ground. Cagliari fans can be forgiven that their present owner has started divorce proceedings in the form of putting the club up for sale and concentrating on his love back here in Yorkshire.
Advisors to Mr Cellino will no doubt be pointing out to the Leeds President that he can expect a mass following from the UK to where ever the club will play for a pre-season warm up in Europe. If Massimo Cellino is serious about taking the team to Sardinia then thousands of Leeds fans on the small Island will do nothing more than rub the noses of Cagliari fans is the sand.
Brian McDermott is currently the manager and is looking more likely to at least kick-off the new season in charge; Massimo has already stated he thinks Brian is a good coach and with the right backing could be left in charge to progress the team and club. Brian has always preferred taking his teams to Slovenia where he knows the facilities and that the expenditure is reasonable. Last Season around 1500 Leeds fans followed the club out to the former Yugoslavia country over a 7-day tour that saw Leeds play three warm up matches. The biggest following turned out to watch Leeds 2-1 against Domzale FC.
Therefore, a conflict of interest may soon be raising its head between the wants of Massimo and the needs of Brian. A solution to all the problems could be that the squad go to Sardinia for training and then play their friendlies off the Island within Italy or Slovenia. Remaining on the Island would limit Brian to any friendlies with Cagliari the only viable team to play.
The recent Regional Members Club conference had fans asking the club for reasonable notice to any planned pre-season matches and the acting CEO Paul Hunt promised fans that the club would bear in mind the request and announce the fixtures once they can be confirmed.
Therefore, everyone will now remain glued to all the social media networks looking for clues to where in the sun we may travel and how much the flight, Hotels will and more importantly the price of a beer will cost them.
Sardinia on paper is looking rather mouth-watering but unlikely!!
*We do already know we will be going to Northern Ireland for at least one game against Glenavon as part of the deal that is bringing young striker Robbie McDaid to Elland Road.

The club are yet to finalise any friendlies or a summer tour.

Cellino wants all players/coaches/staff back to work at Elland Road on May 28th.Says they went away on May 3rd & contracts allow 5wks off
"They (the players) left the 3rd of May. The 28th of May everybody is going to be here. We go by contract, by law."#lufc

On the incoming front, Hockaday, who included young Academy centre-back Jake Skelton in his travelling party who left for Italy this morning, says he is confident Leeds will be able to bring in ‘two or three’ players shortly, with the club working on getting their transfer embargo lifted with their bank account no longer frozen.
The summer transfer window formally opens tomorrow, with the club continuing to be linked with several players in the Italian media, including goalkeeper Marco Silvestri.
The 23-year-old former Italy U-20 custodian made his Serie A debut in April while on loan at Cellino’s former club Cagliari, with his playing rights owned by Chievo and he is believed to be close to sealing a move to Leeds.
Hockaday said: “What I do know in football is that until pen is put to paper officially and things are recognised and registered, it would be unprofessional of me to comment on anything.
“As and when I have a player and I can announce it, then I’ll put my arm around him and do it properly. (But) I am hopeful we will have two or three signings next week.â€
Meanwhile, United are still believed to be working towards attempting to cancel Cameron Stewart’s three-year deal, which he is due to sign tomorrow.
The winger was absent from pre-season training at Thorp Arch at the end of last week.
United will head straight into training this evening at Santi Cristini and over the next fortnight will be faced with three sessions a day. During their time in northern Italy, United will play two games against local sides, fielding a totally different starting XI in the first half and second half of each game – with every player getting 90 minutes under their belts.
Pleased with the response of players to him in training so far, Hockaday added: “We have cranked it up. Their attitude on the first day (Thursday) was a little bit of uncertainty, as it would be on the first day with a new head coach. But the first day was super. And on the second day, there was a big lift for me; we’ve made massive strides in the two days, but we’ve a long, long way to go.â€

Included in the travelling group are youngsters Lewis Cook, Jake Skelton, Chris Dawson and Lewis Walters.

Denne troppen rykker rett ned i L1...

Number of players missing from travelling party
A number of senior players were missing as a 20-man Leeds United squad set off for their two week training camp in Italy.
Striker Ross McCormack is the highest profile player missing from the list of players that haven`t made the trip fuelling speculation that the Scottish international is set to leave the club after reportedly handed in a transfer request last week.
Paddy Kenny, Marius Zaliukas, Rodolph Austin, Cameron Stewart, Scott Wootton and Alex Mowatt are also missing from the party that have arrived in Santa Cristina.
Paddy Kenny is believed to be training at Thorp Arch after the goalkeeper returned for pre-season training last week out of shape.
Lithuanian international Zaliukas could be set to leave the club despite having a year remaining on his current deal having only arrived at Elland Road in November. Zaliukas was impressive in his first month with the club after a successful trial and he was rewarded with an eighteen-month deal at Christmas but his form dipped alarmingly in the second half of the season.
Rodolph Austin is still hoping to join up with the squad after administrative problems with his paperwork allowing him to travel to Italy.
Cameron Stewart hasn`t travelled despite the winger supposed to be completing a permanent deal with the club tomorrow. Leeds have been trying to find a way out of the deal to sign Stewart who had an unsuccessful spell at Elland Road in the second half of last season and it is believed that the winger now as no intention of joining the club and he has declared himself a free agent.
Scott Wootton and Alex Mowatt have remained at Thorp Arch as they recover from injuries picked up during the summer.
Steve Morison, who spent the whole of last season on loan at Millwall, is amongst the party that have travelled as well as youngster Lewis Cook, Jack Shelton, Chris Dawson and Lewis Walters.

Pre-season:
LEEDS UNITED have announced an additional friendly to their pre-season schedule and will travel to League One outfit Swindon Town on Tuesday, July 29 (kick-off 7.45pm).
The game will see head coach David Hockaday return to his former club, currently managed by Mark Cooper, son of Whites great Terry.
The clash is United’s fourth confirmed friendly on English soil after returning from Italy, with games with near-neighbours Guiseley and Chesterfield also pencilled in.
Tickets arrangements for the game away to Swindon will follow in due course.
United’s pre-season friendly schedule kicks off with a game against local Italian side FC Gherdeina at the Mulin De Coi in Val Gardena on Thursday, kick-off 5.30pm.
Leeds tackle Romanian outfit FC Viitorul Constanta at the same venue on Sunday, July 13 - again with a 5.30pm kick-off.
After returning from their pre-season training camp in Italy, United travel to Nethermoor to face near-neighbours Guiseley on Saturday, July 19.
A Leeds XI visit non-league Corby Town on Wednesday, July 23 and three days later, United travel to the for the first time to the Proact Stadium to tackle Chesterfield on July 26.
A trip to Wiltshire to face Swindon is pencilled three days after that and the following night (July 30), a United side travel to Northern Ireland to face Glenavon, as part of the deal which saw Robbie McDaid sign for the club.
United U21s were held 0-0 in their first pre-season friendly against Grimsby Borough at the weekend, in a game marred by an ankle injury to Lewis Coyle.
McDaid made his United bow in the game.

POPEY: #lufc With the squad at the camp is a doctor who has worked at Cagliari called Sergio Olla. He is impressed with the set up.

God gammeldags trening!
Men sende unger ut på veien sånn da. ::)

@markcarter376 @pwhiteley41 @LeedsUtd1 nobody looks out of place from what I saw today. Decent bond in training. Pleasantly surprised tbh.
-
Om Bianchi
Adam Pope
@DavidHesketh90 looks comfortable across it but played on left today. Bit of craft about him . Soon be up to speed with rest. Decent runner.
Om Silvestri
@kavana25 yes he did. Alex Cairns says Silvestri's handling is strong.
#lufc Silvestri deal will involve a compensation payment to Chievo I imagine due to his age. Sullivan said encouraging things about him.
Neil Sullivan er ny keeper-trener!
:)

So I saw the new boys in training today for the first time.
Marco Silvestri is 23 and I reckon will have cost in the region of 0.5m due to his age from Chievo Verona. Can't see it being millions up front for the ex U21 Italy stopper. Coach Neil Sullivan worked him, Stuart Taylor (who is a total giant) and Alex Cairns really hard. Sully is impressed with him, good rapport in 1 on 1 sessions between them and he seems a solid handler of the ball. That was backed up by Cairns who said as much to Sam Byram who I was chatting to. The deal has taken a while waiting for him to be registered with the FL.
Tommaso Bianchi played left side midfield today and looked a decent runner when I saw him on the track doing extra work as he catches up with the squad. Speaking to Matty Pears who helps condition the squad he testified to Bianchi's comfortable running style. He seems to have a bit of craft about him and apparently can play across the middle of the park. Officially not been confirmed as signed by club so not sure if he will play in Thursday's friendly here in Santa Cristina.
Nicola Salerno was at training early on today before going to Verona. He had been chatting to @leedsunitedItalia Fabrizio Trusiano about the potential signings of striker Soulemayne Doukara and Swiss international defenders Gaetano Berardi and Jonathan Rossini.
There were no more new faces at training today.
More to follow in a bit!
story

Part 2 Wednesday at Santa Cristina
The training I saw was intense. With all players involved and no injuries it seems. I have to say the staff are happy with the response from the players and I feel there is a positivity about them when with all that has happened at the club could send it the other way.
There was a lot of pass and move (simplifying somewhat I know) drills and some full on 11 v 11 spells.
The teams lined up mainly 4-3-3 to my eye but also some 4-4-2 but don't read to much into that as there was a bit of diamond going on too.
Stephen Warnock scored an utter worldy too!
First game saw
S. Taylor ; Thompson , Killock, Skelton, C Taylor; Norris, Cook, White; Walters, Morison, Poleon
V
Cairns; Byram, Lees, Pearce, Warnock; Tonge, Austin, Murphy, Bianchi; Hunt, Smith
Dawson and Blackman sat out whilst Silvestri trained with Neil Sullivan.
Second set up
S.Taylor; Byram, Lees, Pearce, Warnock; Tonge (holding), Austin, Blackman; Murphy (behind) Smith, Poleon.
Versus
Silvestri ; Thompson, Killock, Skelton, C. Taylor; Norris, Cook, White; Dawson (behind) Walters, Morison.
Cairns trained with Neil Sullivan whilst Bianchi and Hunt sat out.
Overall it was pretty technical stuff which was rounded off by a compulsory ice bath in the rapid flowing river which saw the players haul themselves up a rope to dry land .... the kids watching loved that!
It may be a minor thing but the walk to training downhill for about 10 mins is countered by a massively steep climb on the way back 2 or 3 times a day. This is a tough schedule and nobody is breezing it.
...og her er del 3 :)
Adam Pope
Part 3/3 from Santa Cristina on Wed July 9.
Some other things of note include the presence of Doctor Sergio Olla from Cagliari. He is working with the medical/ Physio teams for the fortnight here. He says he is impressed by the professionalism of the staff .
He also extolled the virtues of high altitude training, tranquility , fresh air, recovery times from training sessions . He obviously had worked with Cellino before like Salerno but it's not certain if he will come to Leeds as he has other commitments in Sardinia at present.
It was great to see Neil Sullivan still involved and I was really impressed with how he worked the keepers . Good rapport he is building with Silvestri . Taylor is an utter collossus by the way and with Cairns out here surely there will be something sorted re Paddy Kenny but no word yet.
Any senior players out here who might be expected to leave before August are putting a shift in it seems.
Byram seems to be coping with a full pre season so far which will be great if it continues after playing catch up last year.
Dave Hockaday seems in his element on the training pitch. He puts his point across forcefully and is pretty vocal .
Salerno is meant to be returning here tonight and Cellino is expected too . The feeling is that nobody really likes to say or do too much without Massimo knowing first !
The other names being mentioned as possible signings are 24 yr old centre back Giuseppe " The Warrior" Bellusci from Catania who is ex Italy U21 and 30 yr old Verona striker Daniele Cacia who where he has had a decent scoring
record of almost 1 in 2 games.
In the post McCormack era players seem to have knuckled down and carried on tbh. @leedsuniteditalia fan Fabrizio told me that Cellino had a stand off with Cagliari keeper Marchetti once. The Italy number 2 stopper was a strong character like McCormack. Cellino didn't play him for a season and then sold him . At least this deal works for United and Ross.
Also it was good to meet up with Rina and Paul who are well traveled Leeds fans from Shropshire who will be at the match tomorrow .

Been reading a few comments on here recently which have really bugged me. First of all these idiots who keep saying that Cellino is not re investing the money we got for McCormack back into the team. Just because someone signs for an undisclosed fee does not mean they were free! Arsenal signed Alexis Sanchez for an undisclosed fee. Do you think he was free then??? Cellino got a great fee for a player who wanted to leave. Under past owners we would have got 3 million.
Also using Arsenal as an example again.... On Saturday they played Boreham Wood... and won two nil. We get the same result at Guiseley and certain people are already sharpening the knives!
I for one think Cellino is the best thing that has happened to our club in a very long time.

Her må det handles!

TOMMASO BIANCHI, who is leaving Leeds United to join Ascoli on a permanent deal, was one of 15 players signed by the club during owner Massimo Cellino’s first transfer window.
Leeds ramped up their business in the summer of 2014 in an effort to prepare for a transfer embargo the following January and Cellino looked abroad for 11 of those signings, including Bianchi’s arrival from Italian club Sassuolo.

Cellino has since admitted that he underestimated the strength of the Championship and the mixed success of that influx proves his point. So who were the 15? And where are they now?
Stuart Taylor (goalkeeper, free transfer from Reading)
The former Arsenal trainee was the first recruit of the Cellino era. Well into his 30s, he came in as understudy to Marco Silvestri and made only three appearances after Silvestri was part of the infamous withdrawal of six injured players before United’s trip to Charlton in April 2015. Leeds released him soon after and Taylor is still without a club.

Marco Silvestri (goalkeeper, undisclosed fee from Chievo)
Silvestri has been Leeds’ first choice keeper for the past two years and he has another two seasons on his contract. United head coach Garry Monk is looking to replace him this summer, casting doubt over Silvestri’s future, but the Italian was back at Thorp Arch for pre-season training on Monday.

Arrived at Leeds during a flurry of announcements in July 2014. Played 26 times in his first season but looked increasingly uncomfortable in the Championship, even before two knee injuries forced him to undergo surgery. Spent the second half of last season at Ascoli and is now joining the Serie B side permanently on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Souleymane Doukara (striker, undisclosed fee from Catania)
Now into the last 12 months of his contract at Elland Road. He had a short purple patch at the start of his spell with Leeds and another midway through last season but he was sidelined towards the end of the 2015-16 campaign by an eight-game ban for biting.

Gaetano Berardi (right-back, undisclosed fee from Sampdoria)
Started badly with two red cards in his first four games but, to quote Neil Redfearn, was the most suited of all the foreign imports to the style and intensity of the Championship. Firmly established as Leeds’ preferred right-back and a popular figure among United’s support.

Billy Sharp (striker, £600,000 from Southampton)
A transfer which then head coach David Hockaday was extremely keen to complete and a player who Leeds had been linked with for years. Sharp scored the winner on his home debut against Middlesbrough but he became peripheral as United fell back on a 4-5-1 formation to see off the threat of relegation. The club sold him to Sheffield United last summer, midway through their pre-season tour of Austria and Norway.

Liam Cooper (centre-back £600,000 from Chesterfield)
Leeds had previously failed with an offer for Cooper but they went back to him after a sorry 2-0 defeat at Millwall on the first day of the 2014-15 term. The 23-year-old gone onto become the club’s vice captain, make 72 appearances and win a Scotland call-up. He’s now into the last year of his three-year contract.

Mirco Antenucci (striker, undisclosed fee from Ternana)
Spent two seasons at Elland Road before United released him in May. He was Leeds’ top scorer in his first term and finished last season with nine goals but his time in England was difficult in periods, not least because of an appearance-related clause in his contract which saw his first-team place threatened in April 2015. He signed for Serie B club Spal yesterday.

Giuseppe Bellusci (centre-back, undisclosed fee from Catania)
Another of the clutch of summer signings who is still with Leeds, though he missed the start of pre-season this week due to family problems. Empoli have been repeated linked with him since the end of last season so an exit this summer cannot be ruled out. Amid his low and controversial moments, Bellusci’s free-kick at Bournemouth in 2014 stands out as a highlight.

Nicky Ajose (striker, £150,000 from Peterborough United)
Another Hockaday-inspired signing and one which came to absolutely nothing. Ajose was ignored after making three league appearances, including one as a substitute, and he was sent on loan to Crewe for much of the 2014-15 campaign. A severance deal last summer allowed him to join Swindon full time and he scored 25 times at the Country Ground, earning a place on the shortlist for the League One player-of-the-year award. Charlton Athletic signed him for a reported £800,000 last week.

Casper Sloth (midfielder, £600,000 from Aarhus)
An expensive signing by United’s standards but one who has never made his face fit. Sloth is still on the payroll at Elland Road and has been training as usual in the past few days but two years on from his arrival from Denmark, he has 14 appearances to his name. He did not play once last season.

Zan Benedicic (winger, season-long loan from AC Milan)
As a youngster from the San Siro, the Slovenian winger appeared to have some pedigree but he was struggling to merit inclusion in Leeds’ match-day squads long before a serious knee problem - the bane of his career to date - ended his campaign in November 2014. He spent the rest of his loan recovering in Italy and duly rejoined his parent club. He is one of a number of former Whites who now play for Ascoli.

Dario Del Fabro (centre-back, season-long loan from Cagliari)
Came from Cellino’s old club and United’s owner thought a lot of the young centre-back but Del Fabro made no meaningful impression. Aside from an unexpected and isolated FA Cup outing at Sunderland, His only distinction was to be among the group of six players who controversially withdrew through injury from Leeds’ 2-1 defeat at Charlton in April 2014. Capped at several youth levels by Italy, he joined Ascoli from Cagliari on loan last season with a view to a permanent move and played there alongside Bianchi and Benedicic.

Brian Montenegro (season-long loan from Nacional)
An unheralded but talented striker, formerly of West Ham, who came from Paraguay but like Del Fabro and others had precious little chance to make his presence felt. One FA Cup start and five substitute appearances in the league were all Montenegro was given. Did he have more to offer? The 23-year-old went back to Nacional in the summer of 2015 and scored 18 goals in 22 games. He looks set to finalise a move to Argentine champions Lanus in the days ahead.

Adryan (midfielder, season-long loan from Flamengo)
The ‘marquee signing’ and the transfer that Cellino was most desperate to tie down. Famously described as a “dreamboat†by the BBC’s South American football expert Tim Vickery - and turned out to be exactly that. The odd trick and flash aside, the Brazilian’s flair rarely showed itself and he was all but absent from the second half of the 2014-15 season. He has just finished another loan with Nantes in France where he played in 26 league games and scored three goals. The Football Association is continuing to investigate where his move from Flamengo to Leeds broke third-party ownership rules.
