YOUNGSTERS ARE OUR IDENTITY - REDFEARN
Head coach on the four Academy graduates in the first team...
PUBLISHED 19 FEBRUARY 2015 AT 03:00
0 0CHARLIE TAYLOR, LEWIS COOK, NEIL REDFEARN, SAM BYRAM, ALEX MOWATT
Neil Redfearn believes the homegrown players within his squad are the "identity of the club" and says keeping them at Elland Road is part of the long-term plan.
Four Academy graduates started in last Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Millwall, with goalscorer Alex Mowatt lining up alongside Sam Byram, Lewis Cook and Charlie Taylor.
"It’s really important for the club and the identity of the club," said Redfearn.
"It’s something that supporters can relate to - they like to see their own.
"The young players that have come in have been outstanding. It’s a real testament to the Academy."
Having moved to the club’s Academy as Under-18s coach in 2009, Redfearn has played a major role into developing the youngsters into first-team players, and he sees them as key parts of the club’s future.
"Straight from the off, I think the president has expressed his desire to build," said the head coach.
"He wants the club to build for the future and have these young players as the base.
"I think they are wise words and music to the ears of the people at the football club. I’m sure that will be the case.
"They’re young boys and are enjoying playing their football.
"They love playing for Leeds United, you can see that. They’re very together as a group."
Cook, who only celebrated his 18th birthday earlier this month, is the youngest of the four, but Redfearn says he carries himself and plays with the maturity of someone way beyond his years.
"As a person, he is very level-headed. You wouldn’t think he has just turned 18," said Redfearn.
"He’s good a real good outlook on life and how things should be done. His parents have got to take a lot of credit for that.
"He’s a real grounded boy. He’s very driven, he’s never satisfied with what he sees as his best – he always wants to do better."

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT - REDFEARN
Head coach casts an eye over the club's young prospects...
Neil Redfearn says he "wouldn't hesitate" in giving first-team opportunities to any of the club’s youngsters after watching the Under-21s run riot in Monday’s "outstanding" 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town.
The head coach was present in the stands at the John Smith’s Stadium as goals from Dario Del Fabro, Brian Montenegro, Chris Dawson (penalty), Kalvin Phillips and Ross Killock put the 10-man Terriers to the sword in convincing fashion.
Both Phillips and Lewis Walters have been among Redfearn’s substitutes in recent weeks, with the head coach already thinking about adding to the four Academy graduates – Sam Byram, Alex Mowatt, Lewis Cook and Charlie Taylor – who have been regulars in his side this season.
"It’s good to look at everything and, if the opportunity arises, I wouldn’t hesitate to put any of these boys in," said Redfearn.
"They’ve proved that they’re good enough and the lads underneath are pushing them as well.
"It’s a healthy situation to have. It’s always good to have good young players, your future is always your kids and the future looks really bright.
On the Under-21s’ Yorkshire derby victory, Redfearn added: "I thought it was an outstanding performance, there was some great football played.
"They’re usually close games against Huddersfield and keenly contested, but we were by far and away the better side.
"We started off well, got an early goal and the boys played some polished football. The goals were the icing on the cake in a really good performance."
Phillips was handed a place among the substitutes for the second time this season in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Wigan, and although the midfielder was not called upon at the DW Stadium, Redfearn is confident a first-team debut is just a matter of time.
The 19-year-old added the fourth for United’s youngsters at Huddersfield with a stunning strike from range, leaving Joe Murphy helpless as it flew fiercely beyond the Town goalkeeper on 73 minutes.
Redfearn said: "It was an outstanding finish. He’s capable of that sort of thing, he’s a powerful boy.
"He’s got a hammer of a right foot, it dropped for him on the edge of the box and he struck it beautifully. The keeper had no chance. He’s capable of that.
Asked if Phillips is close to a first-team chance, Redfearn replied: "I think so. He was a sub on Saturday and, to be honest, I wouldn’t have hesitated to have thrown him on if I thought we’d have needed him because I think he’s capable.
"He’s more than capable of going in there and holding his own. He’s physically capable with a great technique.
"He’d probably add us a different dimension with his range of passing as well."
The Under-21s’ victory capped a productive couple of days for the youth teams, with United’s Under-18s also enjoying an impressive victory over the Terriers on Saturday – winning 3-0 at Thorp Arch – as confidence runs high throughout the club.
"It always helps if your first team is winning because it makes it a happier club," said the head coach.
"But the young boys have been playing well all season and we’re getting youngsters breaking through - obviously there’s Byram, Cook, Mowatt and Taylor.
"And we’ve got players who played on Monday – Kalvin Phillips was on the bench on Saturday, he played ever so well and scored again.
"Lewis Walters has been on the bench, he looked bright again and young Chris Dawson looked back to his sharp self so it’s a really good plus.
"I thought the two centre-backs, Killock and Del Fabro, looked really assured.
"They defended well, cleared their lines well, organised and got the side up the pitch. They both scored as well which is a real plus."

Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP
Loan deadline passes in two weeks time but Redfearn says he won't be sending any of his in-form development side out:
...og ikke alle unggutta med like mye suksess;
Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP
Ross Killock has come back to Leeds from his youth loan at Halifax. Wasn't getting a game at Halifax. "He's better than that," Redfearn said

Martin Dowey

The Mark Barber Elite Football Programme is proving to be a huge success.
The George Pindar College and Hull University-based set-up has already forged great links with Championship side Leeds United.
Mark Barber with the six youngsters who have joined Leeds United
And after just five months of working alongside former Boro men Denny Ingram and Tony Hackworth to improve the progression of the town’s players, six young boys have already gone on to join up with Leeds’ development centre.
Theo Watson, Jacob Hakings and Sutton Greening have all joined the Leeds elite group, while Lewis Shields, Harry Holder and Ralph Stubbings have all signed up for the development shadow squad.
Barber is keen to see more progression from his young players in the final stages of the programme’s first year.
He said: “The development centre is now entering its fifth month, Denny, Tony and myself couldn’t be happier with how it has started.
“We have already had six boys go through to Thorp Arch, three of which have gone into the highest group for their age groups.
“Within our programme the coaching the children get is of a high quality.
“I have worked for three years in an academy with some fantastic players and coaches, Denny is an ex-professional and has been in the game for nearly 20 years, while Tony has played in the Champions League for Leeds.
“The experience and quality of coaching is what you would expect in an academy set-up and is a fantastic opportunity for our players, not just having the opportunity to play through at Leeds, but to develop and improve the standard in this area as well.â€
As part of the programme, fixtures have been organised against the I2I Academy, the Ultimate Soccer School and Hessle Sports.
Barber also took a group of players to tackle Leeds United’s elite group.
He added: “This was great for the boys to see that with hard work and concentration at sessions they will get the opportunity at Leeds.
“The set-up and standard proved to everyone that the Academy is up there with the best in the country and the opportunity that we have created is a realistic one for the boys achieve.â€

ACADEMY UNDER 16S MAKE GALWAY CUP FINAL
ACADEMY UNDER 16S MAKE GALWAY CUP FINAL
The Leeds United Under 16s narrowly missed out on taking home the Galway Cup trophy this weekend as they lost out on penalties to Shamrock Rovers in the final clash.
The Whites Under 16s successfully made it to the final where they beat off 3 other teams in their age group in the prestigious tournament held in Galway in Ireland.
The tournament, which takes place on four full-sized pitches at Dram Soccer Park, see’s teams from the UK and Ireland play a series of 25 minutes-a-side games to reach the final.
Before making it through to the final the Under 16s successfully defeated Leixlip United in a five goal thriller that saw the Leeds United academy win 3-2. The Whites youngsters then went on to draw with Shamrock Rovers 1-1 to secure their place in the final.
With a tense final and with both teams playing on an even tenure and finishing 1-1 before the game went to penalties, the Whites just missed out on the top spot with the final score line ending 3-1 after penalties.
Adam Underwood, Leeds United Academy Manager, said: "It's been another excellent tournament experience for our 2002 born players. After a narrow defeat in the final of their last tournament in Italy earlier this year, I'm sure they are gutted to have come even closer this time out.
However, they played some very attractive football to overcome very physical, competitive opposition to reach the final and it's a great achievement to get through a tournament unbeaten.
Academy Under 15/16s coaches Danny Schofield and Tom Newey were extremely pleased with the players efforts on the pitch and reported that they were a credit to club off it.
Tournament football and competitive experiences will continue to play a key part in our efforts to develop our academy players moving forward, as we seek to offer variety in the games programme and expose the players to as much top quality opposition as possible."

Released by Everton for being short, wasn't he? Their loss, ey. Male's got the positioning and technique, it's a shame he's in a position where your success is determined largely by your height and reach. Hopefully he'll add a few inches over the next year.

Strong left arm there, building a group of quality young keepers now.
Om unge spillere på banen denne sesongen
I think it'll happen over the course of this ssn, training with squad but not all playing until MB thinks they're ready. Hosannah injured is a bummer tbh, was looking forward to him being in there too.
Injured mate, scan ongoing atm. No news from lufc on any injuries tho.
I would def have them ready & in some cases play one of two. Pretty sure Bielsa loves young players & wants them in his squad, he'll know when time is right to chuck em in.
Agree or even playing as our right winger, Alioski poor atm. No prognosis on scan yet i believe so maybe more than 4 weeks. Same gutted for him, good athlete & loves to score too
Kenneth Roy Brown
Yep think the academy is coming a long nicely when you look at how the dev team is now wonder if we are likely to see Ryan Dalby Shack Clarke Diaz Stevens Rey stepping up to the first team Squad now
Strange one Foden and Diaz Pep saying he hasn’t. decided wether to loan em out but at City end people saying there nailed on to come here on loan sometime this week.cant see it then gain I can see it if you get me happening
Benny Tayls
I’m really really looking forward to seeing Edmondson Dalby Clarke Shackleton Stevens Kamwa Nicell Rey Strujik Diaz & Hosannah really develop & flourish under Bielsa. Some cracking talents.
Yeah big fan of Shackleton a cracking footballer can play anywhere in midfield Tbf
Ross Cowling
Just looking at our keepers : Blackman, Sheytanov, BPF, Male & Maziek....anymore?

Eight Clubs Ready For Dutch Trip
By: Jack Wylie |
Academy players at eight English Football League clubs will travel to The Netherlands on Tuesday 31 July as part of a pre-season trip organised by League Football Education.
Almost 150 Under-18 players from Birmingham City, Crewe Alexandra, Grimsby Town, Leeds United, Newport County, Portsmouth, Rochdale and Sheffield United will step up their preparations for the new season by taking on their peers at top Dutch clubs until the trip’s conclusion on Sunday 12 August.
The initiative – fully subsidised by the Erasmus+ fund – promotes development and facilitates the exchange of skills and ideas between coaches and players in both countries. During the two-week trip, Leeds and Sheffield United will be hosted by FC Twente, while Birmingham and Rochdale will travel to VVV Venlo. Elsewhere, Portsmouth and Grimsby are based at FC Emmen, with Crewe and Newport staying with FC Groningen.
The Dutch experience has been designed to broaden personal and professional horizons, with the players scheduled to take part in a range of cultural activities. These include language lessons, a visit to the Overloon War Museum and a trip to Amsterdam city centre, as well as footgolf, an Amsterdam Arena tour and tickets to watch Eredivisie champions PSV play against KNVB Cup winners Feyenoord in the Johan Cruyff Shield, held at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven.
On the pitch, the clubs will experience training sessions led by the European coaches to prepare for testing fixtures against Eredivisie clubs like AZ Alkmaar, Feyenoord and Vitesse, while certain clubs will also take on German and Belgium opposition in Arminia Bielefeld and KAA Gent.
LFE Project Manager Dan Jolley said: “This initiative meets the cultural and sporting aims aligned to Erasmus+ and at the same time allows over one-hundred players in the English academy system the opportunity to sample life, training and work in another European nation.
“Many of them will experience playing against continental opposition for the first time. Learning about different styles of play, coaching and tactics can only help them become better players.â€

Leeds United academy footballer scores top GCSE results

A rising Leeds United starlet has proved that footballers can combine sport with study after achieving top GCSE grades.

Henri Kumwenda, 16, plays for the club's under 18 side and attends Grammar School at Leeds.
He has been with the club since the age of 11 and signed a two-year scholarship deal this year.
He was born in Malawi and now lives in Collingham.
He achieved top GCSEs in 10 subjects - with four at grade nine and two at grade eight, as well as three A*s and one A.
Henri now plans to take A Level maths and a Btec in sports science.
The striker spent the summer with the Leeds United academy in Sweden and the Netherlands, and will appear in FA Youth Cup this season. He also hopes to train with the first team.
“I am absolutely delighted with my GCSE results. Doing so well keeps all my options open but I am really happy with my decision to join Leeds United full-time. Training with the club is absolutely amazing.â€

Succession planning finally in evidence at Leeds United as club looks to create self-sufficient future
With the first team, U23s and U18s all flying at the start of the season, could it be that Leeds finally has a plan for the future?
ByJon Howe
11:55, 10 SEP 2018
Sport
Supporting Leeds United is largely an acceptance that what makes football wonderful is usually what happens to other people.
Dazzling football, promotion highs, cup runs; these are all alien concepts in LS11, mythical tales our forefathers talked about whimsically over the Sunday roast.
Such success, of course, usually comes from having structure, organisation and strategy in place. Yet, even supporting a football club with a ‘plan’ is a sepia-tinted notion to fans who have long since grown weary of their club becoming a byword for farce and ineptitude. Leeds United have been back to the drawing board so many times over the last decade they have earned enough loyalty points for a free trip. The suggestion that dogs learn quicker is a valid one when you see the reset button being pressed so willingly, but the overall plan to get to a certain point can often become lost in the day-to-day frenzy of trying to get there.
Is a long-term plan finally in place?
For every Myanmar, Paul Heckingbottom and Felix Wiedwald, for example, there is a counter argument that points to long term foundation being put in place; cultural change that is bringing professionalism, leadership and direction, not just to help us navigate the slings and arrows of the here and now but to make Leeds United healthier and a more viable proposition to steer through whatever comes in the future.
When I first wrote about the unfathomable prospect of Marcelo Bielsa becoming our manager back in June , I talked about the importance of creating a legacy that Leeds United benefited from. We are already tired of reading about Bielsa’s influence on the managers of the Premier League’s top sides, and all we are interested in is what will be left at Leeds United when the Bielsa extravaganza finally leaves town. In truth, we have seen little of the restless tempestuousness we were told to expect, and Bielsa has so far carried an air of calmness and security. But still Leeds need to ensure they soak the well dry in terms of Bielsa’s wisdom and character while they have the honour of his presence in the building.
Corberan has been in the first-team dugout this season (Image: Leeds United)
In this respect it is great to see Carlos Corberan in the dugout for first team games, albeit in an undefined role, but certainly front and centre of proceedings and seemingly carrying an influence. Given Bielsa’s loyalty to his long-established team of coaches, fitness gurus, analysts and interpreters – and the fact that they all come as a package - it is not insignificant that Corberan has penetrated that and is afforded priceless insight into Bielsa’s inner sanctum. Time does not stand still long enough to truly understand the mind of Bielsa; his maverick machinations are a unique art form it would be futile to try and replicate, but in terms of philosophy, attitude, tactics and practices there is a wealth of learning that any fertile mind would readily absorb.
The opening weeks of the 2018/19 season have offered us ample evidence of Bielsa’s teachings permeating every level of the club, but in truth much of this groundwork was done over the first few months of Andrea Radrizzani’s sole ownership over 12 months ago, back when the notion of time travel appeared less fanciful than Marcelo Bielsa becoming Leeds United manager.
Corberan, let’s not forget, was appointed in June 2017, and while he may not necessarily be earmarked as the heir apparent to the Leeds United hotseat, he appears to be an able conduit to spread Bielsa’s fabled influence. The Under-23 team finished last season with an impressive unbeaten streak that has carried on into what appears to be a Year Dot for Leeds United. Four wins and a draw sees the Under-23s top of their Northern Section, but it is not so much the results as the style of play that is making Leeds fans sit up and take notice.
It is true that Corberan’s youngsters were playing confident, free-flowing football last season too, and indeed it should be noted that Mark Jackson’s Under-18s won the Professional Development Northern League title last season also. It is no secret that the success of the first team is the most influential at any football club, but also probably the hardest to achieve, so it is no surprise that it has taken some time, some mistakes and not inconsiderable money to get the top three playing tiers of the club truly aligned in philosophy and trajectory.
Having Corberan, Jackson and also Academy head coach Richard Cresswell on board at this time is crucial in ensuring there is longevity, continuity and a Leeds heart remaining whenever Bielsa decides to walk off into the sunset. But in terms of playing resources we are also seeing bountiful fruits from a harvest that long pre-dates El Loco.
It is not uncommon for Leeds fans to hang their hat on a key youngster that emerges from Thorp Arch, but a prolific conveyor belt is currently changing this identity on an almost weekly basis. Tom Pearce, Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Ryan Edmondson already feel like old heads, as new names take the natural route of bypassing age groups because their talent demands it.
Already this season 18-year-old Jamie Shackleton has shot into the first team picture. Jack Clarke has plundered three goals and two assists in the last two games, his most recent contribution a delicious volley in the 5-0 win over Bristol City that dripped with nonchalance and natural ability. Clarke is just 18, so is Jordan Stevens, so is Callum Nicell who signed his first professional contract last week, so is Robbie Gotts who caught the eye against Bristol City and so is Bobby Kamwa who was a major factor in the Under-18s success last season. Any one of them could make the step up this season, and this is notwithstanding players out on loan such as Paudie O’Connor and the highly-rated Aapo Halme just recovering from injury.
Close observers of Jackson’s youngsters have pinpointed Henri Kumwenda and Nohan Kenneh – who each scored a brace in beating Watford 5-1 last week – while Alfie McCalmont is often mentioned in dispatches. It is clear the investment in recruitment, education and coaching at the Academy has led us to where we are now, not just with a bunch of promising youngsters but with players schooled in the right way of playing and thinking, who trust in each other and can’t necessarily be pigeon-holed to a specific position; the Bielsa way if you like.
It all points to sustainability and growth; to a plan that maintains a position of strength should resources become thin on the ground. Those resources might be money or staff, but either way, Leeds United is slowly becoming self-sufficient, and therefore better set to turn yesterday’s memories into something to savour today.

"It's very positive". The 'footballing philosophy' strengthening the pathway between Leeds United's first team and academy
Phil Hay
Published: 06:30 Wednesday 10 October 2018
Carlos Corberan (left) with Marcelo Bielsa and Jamie Shackleton during Leeds United's win at Derby County in August.
Carlos Corberan (left) with Marcelo Bielsa and Jamie Shackleton during Leeds United's win at Derby County in August.
Carlos Corberan said a shared philosophy between Leeds United’s academy and Marcelo Bielsa’s first team was aiding the development of players after Jack Clarke became the latest youngest to make his senior debut.
Clarke, 17, followed Jamie Shackleton in earning his first outing under Bielsa this season by coming off the bench during the second half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford.
The winger was given his chance after a number of appearances on the bench and impressed with a short cameo which helped Leeds claim an 88th-minute equaliser at Elland Road.
Corberan began coaching Leeds’ Under-23s last season and Clarke turned professional on his watch, agreeing senior terms in November. Bielsa moved Corberan into a first-team role over the summer but the Spaniard has maintained a link with the development squad and has been given responsibility for ensuring a consistent style of play matching Bielsa’s.
Corberan said: “When I arrived my mentality of how I understand football was the same as the academy tried to propose. At the same time, it’s the same as Marcelo is trying to propose in the first team too.
“The link between the academy and the first team is very important and maybe my philosophy of football is the same as Marcelo has too. We’re working all of us in the same direction.
“Marcelo’s a highly demanding coach and it’s very positive for the club. We have to be ready for the high demands but at the same time, he gives importance to the young players and he tries to develop them and follow the process.
“Marcelo’s very focused on the academy and Under-23 level and he’s trying to develop a style which we appreciate a lot. The link between his philosophy and the philosophy of the academy is very positive.â€
Bielsa has relied on academy footballers to compensate for a number of injuries to experienced players this season and he praised the youth-team set-up after Clarke’s debut on Saturday.
“We give a lot of credit to what the academy brings to the first team,†Bielsa said. “I’d like to thank the academy for all of the good players they’re giving us.
“He (Clarke) is a young player, 17 years old and a good player. He has very good skills and we can see the reception he received.â€
Leeds invested heavily in Under-23 and Under-18 players last season but moved a number of those signing on this summer and planned to limit further recruitment amid concerns that the cost of their academy ranks had grown too high.
The Under-23s, who are also coached by Danny Schofield, have made a strong start to this term and sit top of their professional development league after eight matches. The host Burnley at Elland Road on Friday.
Corberan said: “You have to see what football demands of you and then you have to give the answer. Some players unfortunately didn’t have the skills to be ready for professional football and this is part of the message of the academy.
“Some players, you feel they are not ready so you have to add new players. Because our only objective is to put players in the first team.â€

UNDERWOOD PLEASED WITH ACADEMY RESTRUCTURE
10 Oct 2018
Summer changes proving positive.
Adam Underwood has expressed his delight at how the clubs new Academy structure has already beneF***ed Leeds United.
Underwood, who has been head of the Academy since 2014, worked closely this summer with the board of directors and head coach Marcelo Bielsa to implement changes at Thorp Arch which are already appearing to be effective with positive results on the field at every age group and several young players stepping up to the first team.
Carlos Corberan has stayed on as Under-23 manager, however he has also stepped up to become an important assistant coach for Marcelo Bielsa, providing a bridge between the Academy and first team. Danny Schofield has also increased his involvement in the Under-23 set up.
Speaking about the operations, Underwood said: "Carlos is now embedded in both the first team and the Under-23 staff, moving the Under-23 operation closer to the first team and further establishing the pathway for our Academy players.
“Danny is leading the sessions each day with Carlos’ guidance and by structuring our approach and creating regular exposure to the first team environment, our most promising young players are developing under first team conditions and are being challenged to meet their specific demands.
“We have already seen opportunities for Jamie Shackleton, Jack Clarke and Ryan Edmonson this season and with such a strong base of talent in the Academy and out on loan, I am hopeful that given time we will see more young players earning a chance to progress."
Former Leeds forward Richard Cresswell was also appointed this summer in the position as head of Academy coaching, with Underwood seeing this role as crucial appointment across all age groups.
“Richard is responsible for leading the Academy coaching department and ensuring the delivery of our game and training models is aligned throughout the age groups,†said Underwood.
“He is working closely with all the coaching staff, helping them to develop as coaches which in-turn, helps to develop our players. He brings a wealth of experience in the game and is an invaluable addition to the established Academy staff.â€

Stordabuen Einar Iversen (17) i Everton debuterte nylig for klubbens U23-lag.

Three Academy Players Ready To Make The Step Up!
FOCUS ON THE FOOTY âš½ï¸

Since starting this blog site, I’ve focused a lot on the academy of Leeds United and annually release a post on three players that are ready to make the step up to the first team. As it is a new year, today’s blog will be exactly that. First up is Callum Nicell.
Callum Nicell
The 19 year old Irish midfielder signed a new contract with Leeds United last year after an impressive performances for the under 18’s side last season and the under 23s this season. The central midfielder, who has been part of the first team squad before, will be looking to make his debut this season. His main position is a deep lying playmaker, who has an eye for a pass. He has a good knack of finding space to be able to receive the ball of the defence and control games from deep. Once he does receive the ball he often looks to play the back forward rather than being happy with passing it sidewards. He was voted Academy player of the year in 2017 and has represented Ireland at various levels, most recently under 19s. Defensively sounds, albeit he’s not a combative midfielder but will most certainly get stuck in when required. With Kalvin Philips suspended and playing in defence whilst Cooper and Berardi are injured, and Adam Forshaw struggling with form, now could be the perfect time for Callum to get some first team minutes.
Robbie Gotts
Like Callum Nicell, Robbie Gotts has been been part of the first team squad but not made his debut as of yet. The 19 year old full back, who is Harrogate born, has impressed for the under 23s this season. As well as playing full back,a position he’s recently started playing after playing a large amount of his games for the younger age groups as a right winger, he can also play in midfield. Having played further forward before, this has gave him the ability and confidence to get forward at every possible occasion. His attacking ability is good, but as a defender you need to be able to defend and Robbie Gotts certainly can. Like Berardi, but less insane, Gotts is a tenacious player with good fitness levels, something which Bielsa demands. He’s very much a modern day fullback with a throwback side to his game, both of which give him a very good chance of making it in the game. He was voted Academy scholar of the year last season and will be looking to better that by making his debut for the first team.
Clarke Oduor
Last but certainly not least, is the versatile Clarke Oduor. Having played a number of positions through this time at Leeds United, he seems to have found a home at left back/left wingback. Out of the three players he’s the most ready physically but faces a lot of competition at left back in the first team, so may be the last of the three to make his debut. He’s a powerful runner, who gets up and down the wing really well. Like Gotts his best attribute is getting forward from fullback and beating a man with skills and pace. For a left back, he has a lot of flair which is unique, but like I mentioned, is not surprising seem as he’s played further forward. Defensively sound but an area he needs to improve on. This however is understandable as its a new position for him and he’s mentally strong enough to work on improving that side of his game. He has all the attributes to really make the left back spot a position going forward in his career his own. Don’t be surprised if you see him make his debut in the first team playing further forward as its part of his game he excels most in.
All three players have the quality it takes to become a professional footballer at Leeds United. Like always it will depend on the pathway to the first team and the opportunities that present themselves to the players. With the amount of injures in the first team this season, it could well be that the opportunity comes earlier then expected.

Andre statistikker gir oss andreplass (bare bak Southampton)
Statistically 2nd best in the country at producing PL players.
We do, apart from one other.
Its a category 2 academy at a club that hasn’t played in the premier league for a decade and a half. The output is phenomenal. It’s a real testament to the infrastructure, player development strategy and coaches that work their. We won’t produce the real stand out players on a greater scale until we are established in the premier league and have category one status. The very top players go elsewhere at school age. We have seen this to our cost.

Halvnorske Spencer fortsetter å score for U16-laget...
Leeds’s Morten Spencer reacts on Twitter after latest brace
By Jordan Harris
Published on September 23, 2019
Leeds United starlet Morten Spencer took to Twitter to express his delight after helping the club’s under-16s to a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with the summer signing bagging two goals.
Spencer is one of the many academy prospects that the Elland Road faithful appear to be keeping a close eye on. He arrived earlier in the year and was immediately earmarked as a talent the Whites could be excited about.
The Sun had reported in February that Manchester City had been closing in on a deal for the midfielder, who had been in Sunderland’s ranks. Around a month later however, he was joining Leeds from the Black Cats.
And the 15-year-old is continuing to make a big impression for the Championship leaders. The teenager scored twice at the weekend as Leeds’s youngsters claimed a win over Forest.
And after the win away from home, Spencer took to social media to comment on the victory and his brace…
Very good 3-1 win v Nottingham forest yesterday, good to get 2 goals! @leedsutdacademy @LUFC

It is likely to be some time before Spencer is really emerging onto Marcelo Bielsa’s radar. But his progress certainly suggests that Leeds produced a coup getting him from Sunderland, especially with Manchester City reportedly lurking.
He may well be targeting a regular spot with the under-18s before too long. And perhaps he should also set his sights on getting a chance with Carlos Corberan’s under-23s at some stage in the future.

How many did young Mr G score??
How many did HG score?
Averages 3 a game.
My mate coaches him now.H is the best yet, possibly best 12 year old in UK.
