Burnley sist!

Burnley 2  Jones S 4, McVeigh 48
Cardiff City 0
Att: 11347

Clarets prolong Bluebirds' slump

Steve Jones and Paul McVeigh scored as Burnley won 2-0 at home to Cardiff, a result which should ensure the Clarets stay in the Championship.

Burnley are up to 17th in the table but Cardiff have slipped to 10th - five points from the play-offs - after a fourth successive defeat.
The Clarets, now past the 50-point mark, followed up morale-enhancing wins over Plymouth Argyle and Birmingham with another polished performance and deserved victory that will virtually banish any lingering relegation fears at Turf Moor.
It is a far cry from just over a week ago when Steve Cotterill's side had gone 19 games without a win, but three on the spin have proved a timely shot in the arm for the club's fortunes.
The livewire Jones broke the deadlock after just four minutes with an instinctive finish before McVeigh wrapped up the points from close range three minutes into the second half.
Defeat for City, meanwhile, has left them further adrift of the play-off pack and manager Dave Jones will be well aware his side need plenty of good fortune in the coming weeks if they are to clinch a top-six finish.
Burnley boss Cotterill opted to deploy the same starting line-up for the third game in a row and was instantly rewarded as his side capitalised on some suspect City defending to race into an early lead.
Michael Duff's throw-in level with the 18-yard box should have been hacked clear but instead Andy Gray pounced to prod the ball into the path of Jones and the winger steered a rasping drive across goalkeeper David Forde from just inside the penalty area.
It was the Northern Ireland international's second goal in as many home outings following his strike in the 4-0 win over Plymouth last Tuesday, and his fifth in total since joining from Crewe last summer.
The early goal set the tone for a frenetic opening as Peter Whittingham blazed over from 25 yards before Gray saw a looping header skid off the top of the crossbar after stooping to meet a deft Jones centre with 20 minutes played.
On the half-hour, Paul Parry's teasing corner was directed goal-bound by Roger Johnson but combative midfielder James O'Connor found himself in the right place to clear off the line as the first half petered out to an uneventful end.
City were again slow out of the blocks after the restart and the hosts doubled their advantage after 48 minutes.
Gray played a raking ball out wide to Wade Elliott on the right flank and his near-post cross was guided past Forde from six yards by the waiting McVeigh.
The on-loan Norwich striker should have had a second moments later in virtually a carbon-copy of the move that led to Burnley's second, however, this time Forde scrambled away McVeigh's effort.
City boss Jones introduced Steven Thompson, Darcy Blake and Matthew Green in a bid to bolster his toothless attack but they were continually denied by a dogged Burnley backline.
Michael Chopra's deflected 25-yard free kick wrong-footed goalkeeper Brian Jensen allowing Johnson to head home from close-range but his celebrations were cut short and Burnley recorded another priceless win.

Kanskje spiller Cressy for Kandol, kanskje sitter Flo på benken.

Mener Thommo bør starte i stedet for Howson. ) får stå for løpinga.

Gray back 'Fittter and stronger'
STEVE Cotterill believes Andy Gray has come back Fittter and stronger after taking time out from the rigours of his bid to regain full fitness.

The 10-goal Burnley striker had struggled to match his early season form after returning from a two-month lay-off with a broken foot in February.
But after contracting a virus and losing half a stone, following the late 1-0 defeat at Southend last month, Cotterill ordered the former Sunderland hitman to take a week-long break.
Despite waiting for his first goal since sustaining his injury at the end of November, Gray has looked back to his best as the Clarets have recorded three wins on the spin.
Cotterill had revealed early in the New Year how hard the 29-year-old was working to make a speedy recovery from three cracked bones in his right foot, putting up to two hours' work with the physio before training was even due to start.
But it seems a complete rest has been just what the doctor ordered.
"I sent him home for a week and I didn't want to see him, I didn't want anyone else to see him,  didn't want the players to see him," the Burnley boss said.
"I wanted him to go home and have a week at home, enjoy his week with his family, enjoy his week rehabilitating and looking after himself.
"At the time I'm thinking I don't know if that's what I'd do. But we trained him, we encouraged him, we got on top of it and , looking back, it probably wasn't what he needed. What he needed was that week off where we didn't do any fitness work with him, we didn't do any finishing with him.
"You can practice all you like, but we didn't do anything with him and he's come back and I'm delighted for him that he's playing well.
"Until he had that break to take on board what had actually happened to him, how he'd rehabilitated and how he'd come back, plus an illness, the penny had dropped with him in that break."
And Cotterill is confident that Gray will soon reap the rewards of his relentless efforts with goals.
"As long as he's playing like he has been, it's only a matter of time.
"The only thing is his performance might dip and he might score that day.
"But I always think you've got to work yourself in credit in this life. I don't think anything's handed to you. It might be handed to you sometime, but there'll be a knock-on effect down the line for you. And I think, in a positive way, because he's playing well, there'll be a knock-on effect and he will score goals, because he's a good player."
He added: "Everyone in the dressing room, the staff and probably the supporters as well, are gutted that he hasn't scored, and when he scores I hope they bring the house down because there's no lad that deserves a goal more than him at this moment in time."

Lewis ready for 'biggest' tests

Leeds winger Eddie Lewis is convinced Dennis Wise's battlers can quickly put the Easter Monday defeat at Colchester behind them.

The American concedes the players were crestfallen after two late goals at Layer Road - the winner in stoppage time - saw Colchester snatch all three points.
"It was enormous disappointment on Monday, particularly with where we are in the league and our recent form," Lewis told the club's official website. "To lose like that is such a big disappointment, but everyone will come around.
"They're all going to be games like this until the end of the season now - every one will be the biggest in the world."
Leeds, who slumped back into the bottom three with four games left, face another crucial clash against Burnley on Saturday at Elland Road.

No Room For Sentiment - Gray

Burnley striker Andy Gray will seperate himself from any sentiment at Elland Road on Saturday.
Gray left Leeds for Nottingham Forest in 1998 having made only 16 starts, including the 1996 League Cup final against Aston Villa.
He said in the YEP: "I've got obvious family connections to the club, I supported them when I was young and I still live in Leeds. Most of my friends are fans. It almost goes without saying that I don't want them to go down.
"I never thought it would get to this stage, their squad always seemed too good to me, and I think they'll get out of it. But it's going to be close, and relegation would be a massive blow.
"Of course it disappoints me but at the same time I'm a professional footballer and I've got a job to do on Saturday. There's no room for sentiment.
"We might look safe but I think the total of points needed to stay up will be higher than it has been for a long time."

Cress Well Again

Richard Cresswell is set to return to partner new skipper David Healy up front on Saturday, having been rested for the match at Colchester.
Wise's selection policy on Monday was criticised by some Leeds fans but the United manager was unrepentant.
He said: "People can say what they like but unless you are here all the time you don't know what is going on. The surgeon said Cress can't play Saturday and Monday. He wanted to play but it wouldn't have been the right thing to do. He's given us a lot and I didn't want to lose him for the last four games.
"He was playing before with a real bad knee problem and had to have the operation and it's still getting better. I had to stop him from playing otherwise he could have finished his career.
"He would be limping in training and in a lot of pain but would insist, 'I'm fine gaffer.' You don't get many players like him. He would die for the cause but I won't allow him to cripple himself. Despite the position we were in it would not have been fair to Cress to play him."

She has a face on her like a bulldog that's just licked piss off a nettle…….

Kelly's time looks up at United

Dennis Wise today hinted that Gary Kelly was unlikely to make another appearance for Leeds United after admitting the Irish full-back is "down the pecking order" at Elland Road. United's manager confirmed that Kelly's 27-game exile from the first team is set to continue when Burnley travel to Elland Road tomorrow, claiming the form of Frazer Richardson was preventing the 32-year-old's recall. Kelly has been restricted to reserve-team football since appearing in United's Championship clash with Barnsley at the start of November, and the club have blamed back and ankle injuries for his extended absence. A 70-minute outing with United's second string at Bradford last month appeared to have placed Kelly in contention for a return to the senior squad, but he was missing from both league fixtures over the Easter weekend and is not thought to have travelled with Wise's squad to Colchester United on Monday. Manuel Rui Marques was fielded at right-back at Layer Road due to a minor injury to Richardson.

Kelly, who is expected to retire at the end of the season after almost 16 years with Leeds, completed Tuesday night's reserve game against Birmingham City, but he is

"So fit or not, I don't think he'd play in front of Frazer. Frazer hasn't done anything for me to justify not playing him in the team. He (Kelly) is down the pecking order, and that's it. It's very difficult to turn round and say I'm going to play him because Frazer has been fantastic. What you can I do – what do you want me to do? I've played (Hayden) Foxe at right-back, and he did okay. People could be asking me why I'm not playing him. If Gary Kelly is going to get me four goals in five games then I'd play him every week."

Kelly was ever-present in United's league fixtures until Colchester's visit to Elland Road on November 11, and his long absence has fuelled speculation that financial restraints are preventing Leeds from including him in their first team. The Republic of Ireland international is reaching the end of a deal which was signed while Leeds were a prominent Premiership club, but Shaun Harvey, United's chief executive officer, denied that the burden of Kelly's contract was behind Wise's selection policy.

Harvey said: "Dennis is under no pressure from the club not to play Gary Kelly. Any suggestion to the contrary is exceptionally wide of the mark."

Marques eyes Championship safety

Leeds defender Rui Marques wants to protect his side's Championship status before securing his own future at Elland Road.

The Portuguese star, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been a regular in Dennis Wise's team since the turn of the year.
But with four games left for Leeds to save their Championship lives, Marques claims he is focused on just one target.
He said: "The most important thing is that Leeds stay in the league first
"Of course my contract is running out but I'm not bothered at the moment - it's not the time to think about this.
"I believe that if I play well, doors will open for me and the best way to make this happen is to focus on my job."

Same again for Elland Road trip
Burnley boss Steve Cotterill will look to select an unchanged side for a fourth consecutive match when his side travel to struggling Leeds.
The Clarets have ended a 19-match winless run with three victories on the bounce, without conceding a goal, and Cotterill is likely to stick with those players.
That means on-loan Norwich man Paul McVeigh will once again partner Andy Gray in attack with Ade Akinbiyi having to be satisfied with a place on the bench.
Elsewhere, midfielder Alan Mahon, who has started just one game since the turn of the year due to a groin problem, is edging closer to fitness.
The Irishman, however, is not likely to be risked and stays on the sidelines, along with defender Stephen Foster (Achilles).

Sky Sports: Championship weekend preview

There could be further fluctuations in the Championship this weekend, with big games for the promotion chasers and those looking to avoid relegation.
Top-of-the-table Sunderland aim to stretch their unbeaten run at home to Queens Park Rangers, while Derby County go to Ipswich Town.

Other games between play-off hopefuls see Cardiff City and Stoke City meet, while Birmingham City - aiming to eventually get back in the top two - face Southampton.

At the bottom end of the table, the biggest game pits Southend United against Barnsley, while caretaker Leicester City manager Nigel Worthington comes up against former club Norwich City.

Birmingham City v Southampton
Andy Cole could make his Birmingham debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. Steve Bruce's dilemma is whether to pick the veteran striker from the start or put him on the bench.
Stephen Clemence has also been training this week after a rib injury and will hope to be involved.
Gareth Bale is out for at least two weeks with an ankle injury and may, therefore, have played his last game for Saints.
Nathan Dyer is out with a knee injury, but Kenwyne Jones and Leon Best could feature after ankle and foot injuries.
Skysports.com prediction: 1-1

Cardiff City v Stoke City
Riccardo Scimeca is again likely to miss out for Cardiff with a groin injury. Glenn Loovens is also missing with a foot injury.
Simon Walton is suspended for The Bluebirds, who need to win to revive their play-off aspirations.
Andy Griffin will return to the Stoke side after suspension, but Dominic Matteo, Salif Diao and Darel Russell all require fitness tests.
Mamady Sidibe will be unable to celebrate his new contract with a goal as he has an Achilles injury, so Vincent Pericard could start as Jon Parkin has been recalled by Hull.
Skysports.com prediction: 1-0

Coventry City v Preston North End
Iain Dowie will be pressed into a change in midfield as Irishman, Michael Doyle, starts a two-match suspension. Isaac Osbourne, Chris Birchall, Khalilou Fadiga or Colin Cameron will come in.
Michael Mifsud is tipped to start up front, with Leon McKenzie struggling with a calf injury. Kevin Thornton, Don Hutchison and David McNamee are near full fitness.
Paul Simpson has vowed to make changes to his Preston team, with Lewis Neal, Franck Songo'o and Neil Mellor pushing for recalls.
But while Simpson has plenty of options, he could still be without Dave Hibbert, Joe Anyinsah and Liam Chilvers.
Skysports.com prediction: 2-1

Crystal Palace v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Peter Taylor will hope the summer holiday flavour lifts at Selhurst Park, with Ben Watson and Jobi McAnuff back to boost the Palace team.
Stuart Green (shoulder) and Michael Hughes (ankle) are out, and are set to be joined on the sidelines by Dougie Freedman (ankle). Darren Ward has been ill during the week.
Wolves will be without Matt Murray for the trip south as the keeper has a side injury, so Jan Budtz will start.
Jackie McNamara should play after an ankle injury, while Michael Kightly is expected to figure after a heavy cold.
Skysports.com prediction: 0-2

Hull City v Colchester United
The relegation battlers could be boosted by the return to the squad of David Livermore after a knee injury.
Jon Parkin is also pushing for a start after his loan spell at Stoke City, but Nick Barmby is doubtful with a calf problem.
Colchester are hoping to name an unchanged team for the fourth game in a row as a play-off berth remains a possibility.
Kevin Watson is the only doubt due to a hamstring injury, while Kevin McLeod is pushing for a start after a hernia operation.
Skysports.com prediction: 1-1

Ipswich Town v Derby County
Lewis Price (ankle) and David Wright (virus) will undergo fitness tests to determine their participation for Ipswich.
Dan Harding is available again after suspension, but Sylvain Legwinski and Richard Naylor are out for the season.
Derby will be without Darren Currie as the midfielder is not eligible to play under the terms of his loan from Ipswich.
But The Rams could pick Dean Leacock (illness) and Marc Edworthy (broken nose), while Darren Moore has been banned for four games after being found guilty of violent conduct.
Skysports.com prediction: 2-2

Leeds United v Burnley
Northern Ireland striker David Healy will skipper the Leeds team for the rest of the season as Jonathan Douglas is suspended.
The relegation strugglers are also without Frazer Richardson, Shaun Derry and Gary Kelly for a game they must win.
Burnley team news to follow.
Skysports.com prediction: 0-1

Leicester City v Norwich City
Worthington takes charge of Leicester for the first time after replacing Rob Kelly in the week and he comes up against the club he left back in October.
Gareth McAuley could return to the squad after a hamstring injury, but Danny Tiatto serves a suspension.
Norwich have problems in midfield, with Youssef Safri (hamstring) and Luke Chadwick (thigh) out, while Robert Earnshaw is not quite ready to return up front.
Peter Grant also has doubts over Simon Lappin (fractured thumb), Mark Fotheringham (back) and Jason Shackell (knee).
Skysports.com prediction: 2-1

Luton Town v Plymouth Argyle
Bottom club Luton are again missing several players for a game Kevin Blackwell desperately needs to collect three points from.
Ahmet Brkovic will miss the rest of the season with a facial injury, while Paul Underwood, Sam Parkin and Kevin Foley are unlikely to play again this term.
Blackwell will also be without Sol Davis (calf), Dean Morgan (ankle) and Leon Barnett (hamstring), who could also miss the closing four games.
Scott Sinclair will play the final game of his loan spell for Plymouth before returning to Premiership champions Chelsea.
Mat Doumbe and Akos Buzsaky were back in the team which beat Leicester 3-0 and should retain their places.
Skysports.com prediction: 0-0

Southend United v Barnsley
Southend have just one injury doubt, but it is a major one as Freddy Eastwood is aiming to recover from back spasms.
Victory for Southend at Roots Hall would see Steve Tilson's side leap above Barnsley, who have injury problems to contend with.
Brian Howard, Martin Devaney and Paul Reid are all doubtful for The Tykes, while Bobby Hassell and Adam Eckersley are also out.
Hassell is suspended after his red card against Birmingham City, while Eckersley has returned to Manchester United due to a thigh injury.
Skysports.com prediction: 2-0

Sunderland v Queens Park Rangers
The Black Cats have yet to lose in the Championship in 2007 and went top of the table after coming from behind to beat Southampton on Monday.
Graham Kavanagh featured for the reserves in the week, but is unlikely to feature, while Liam Miller and Nyron Nosworthy are in the squad after recovering from knocks.
QPR are without Gareth Ainsworth for the rest of the season due to a broken fibula, but Lee Cook and Michael Mancienne should feature.
Inigo Idiakez and Martin Rowlands both have hamstring injuries, while Marc Bircham remains sidelined with a back problem.

Moore wary of Clarets' threat

Leeds forward Ian Moore reckons old club Burnley have paid the price for having a small squad this season.

The Clarets are on a three-match winning run as they travel to Elland Road to take on Moore's relegation battlers, but an 18-match winless streak in the league ruined their chances of a play-off place.
And Moore told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "Obviously, Burnley were up there up until Christmas but since then have had this run of 18 games without a win but I knew how good the squad was there.
"The squad isn't as big as most, and possibly that's why they have dropped away, but they have shown in the last three games how good they are.
"I think the squad there is possibly as strong as when I first went to Burnley under Stan Ternent.
"And although things have changed totally since Steve Cotterill has come in, the squad is looking strong, and the spirit seems good as well."

Wise ready to go down to the wire

LEEDS UNITED manager Dennis Wise is forecasting a "mad few weeks" as four clubs do battle to avoid joining Luton Town in being relegated from the Championship.

The Elland Road chief believes the Hatters – seven points adrift of safety – are already down but that the remaining two places will be decided on the final day.
A trio of Yorkshire clubs will do battle with Southend United over the remaining four games to avoid the ignominy of being relegated to League One.
Third-bottom Leeds host Burnley tomorrow and with Barnsley meeting Southend United at Roots Hall, victory for Wise's men could lift them out of the drop zone.
The United manager was in optimistic mood yesterday at his weekly press conference, even going so far as to urge the assembled media: "Don't give in, chaps, you all sound a bit down."
He then added: "There are 12 points to play for and this is something we have to drum in. We have to believe we can do it.
"Eight minutes of madness (in Monday's 2-1 defeat at Colchester) undid our good run. But that was last week. If we can get a win, it all changes again. We could be out of the bottom three.
"I think it will be a mad few weeks. There will be teams on the edge, then in it and then out of it. It is very close between five teams, though maybe Luton will find it hard to get out. But as for the rest, it is going to be very close. A real close call.
"It will go to the last weekend and I hope Derby have won the league, are all drunk and have had a really good week."
If the relegation battle does go to the final day, Hull are the only one of the current bottom five scheduled to face a club not chasing promotion with Plymouth being due at the KC Stadium.
In contrast, while Leeds visit Derby, Barnsley make the trip to West Bromwich, Southend go to Southampton and Luton host Sunderland.
Tomorrow's fixture at home to Burnley is a more pressing concern, however, and United will be boosted by the return of Richard Cresswell, who was rested at Colchester due to concerns he would be unable to play twice in three days after a recent knee operation.
One United player who will have to sit out the Clarets game is Gary Kelly, who will not figure even if Frazer Richardson fails to recover from the hip injury that kept him out at Layer Road.
Since the former Republic of Ireland international recovered from an ankle problem last month, there has been a clamour from supporters for his return.
However, Wise said: "I would not say he is quite fit, in terms of full fitness he is a little bit off the pace. He is down the pecking order. It took him a while to get back and I went to watch him in a reserve game at Bradford when he played 60 minutes."
David Healy will take on the mantle of captain due to Jonathan Douglas being suspended for the rest of the season. The role has been something of a poisoned chalice this season with Paul Butler, Sean Gregan, Shaun Derry, Kevin Nicholls, Kelly and Douglas all having led the side out.
"David couldn't wait to say 'yes' when I spoke to him – that pleased me more than anything," added Wise.
"Some people might shirk it, but not him. I look for my captain to be someone who will not hide from situations and be a big person in the dressing room who everyone likes and respects. David fits the bill."

Klubbens beste høyreback "down the pecking order" pga. kvaliteter. Jeg gir opp. [:(]

Clarets set to face Wise and Leeds
Burnley travel to Elland Road today for our penultimate away game of the season, and it is a game that is of great importance to our hosts Leeds United as they continue their battle against relegation to League One.
It's only just under two weeks ago that I thought both of us would be involved in that particular fight, and I also wondered whether we would go there with Leeds having been the last side we had beaten. Although not mathematically safe yet we are close enough to know that if results go our way then by tonight we will be.
For Leeds, it is an amazing turn round from a year ago when they were within ninety minutes of reaching the play offs. They'd seen Preston off in the semi-final despite the 'job done' air bunch from Billy Davies, only to fail in the Millennium Stadium final against Watford.
They have never threatened to repeat that this season and by mid September they had hit bottom spot for the first time. A little flurry moved them up a few places but on 16th December they found themselves next to bottom and only in the last week have they climbed above that position.
It all brought an end to Kevin Blackwell's time at the club, but he's not worried because he's found another way to get relegated now by joining Luton, and finally in his place came that obnoxious little man Dennis Wise. Now I'm not sure I'd wish him on any club, and I'm equally unsure whether I'd want a club to be lumbered with Ken Bates, but Leeds have hit the jackpot and got both of them.
Since out meeting in November, in what was our last win for some time, Wise has added to his squad. He brought in four new players in January and another seven players have come in on loan during 2007, they appear to be competing with Stoke City and Ocean Finance for the number of loans in a season.
The four permanent signings included two players who had previously signed on loan, Barnet's Tresor Kandol and Matt Heath from Coventry. The other two were full back Robbie Elliott who had been released by RK Sunderland and striker Tore Andre Flo who had been playing back home in Norway for Valerenga.
Then came the loan players, and here's the list of the latest of them. Miguel Armando Sa (Espanyol), Alan Thompson (Celtic), Casper Ankergren (Brondby), Jemal Johnson (Wolves), Radostin Kishishev (Charlton), Lubomir Michalik (Bolton) and former England full back Michael Gray (Blackburn).
They have had so many loan players that they lost count and fielded too many in their squad when they played at Burnley, having lost the game they got away with a fine. Recently it looked as though they had done it again, but it wasn't the case, players coming in from clubs outside of England are not considered loans. Yet another loophole.
Results looked to be picking up and a recent run of four games without defeat, including victories in each of their last two home games against Preston and Plymouth, helped them out of the relegation places. They'd scored late goals to win both those games as well as grabbing a late equaliser at Southend.
It all turned round on them last Monday at Colchester as they looked to heading for another win before conceding two goals in the last eight minutes of the game. That result and Barnsley's 1-0 home win against Birmingham saw them back in that bottom three.

Team News
Tore Andre Flo has been out since January, he played just the one league game before suffering the injury, and also ruled out is Frazer Richardson. To add to that skipper Jonathan Douglas received his fifteenth yellow card at Colchester and that's ruled him out for three games and having decided to give referee Alan Wiley a mouthful at the end of the game got himself a red card to add another two games to his ban. He won't play now until the second game of next season.
They are not likely to make too many changes from the side that lost at Colchester although as well as replacing Douglas, and Robbie Blake could be the surprise inclusion, they are also expected to bring Richard Cresswell back at the expense of Tresor Kandol in attack.

Leeds could line up: Casper Ankergren, Rui Marques, Matt Heath, Lubomir Michalik, Michael Gray, Robbie Blake, Radostin Kishishev, Alan Thomson, Eddie Lewis, David Healy, Richard Cresswell. Subs from: Graham Stack, Hayden Foxe, Robbie Elliott, Tresor Kandol, Ian Moore, Jemal Johnson.

There have been no reported injuries following the 2-0 win over Cardiff on Easter Monday. Eric Djemba-Djemba had been doubtful but came through a fitness test and played the full ninety minutes without any apparent problem.
That leads to Steve Cotterill almost certainly naming the same side again for the fourth successive game which is: Brian Jensen, Michael Duff, Wayne Thomas, Steven Caldwell, Jon Harley, Wade Elliott, Eric Djemba-Djemba, James O'Connor, Steve Jones, Andy Gray, Paul McVeigh. Subs from: Danny Coyne, Graham Coughlan, Garreth O'Connor, Chris McCann, John Spicer, Kyle Lafferty, Ade Akinbiyi.

Last Meeting
We could have had no real complaints over our performance at Elland Road last season yet came out of the game with nothing from a 2-0 defeat. In the first half Leeds offered nothing as the Clarets dominated, but a combination of missed chances, bad luck, and good goalkeeping meant the half time scored was still 0-0 when we really should have had the game won.
We paid the price and conceded a penalty which David Healy converted and then Robbie Blake punished us with a free kick from a rather dubiously awarded free kick. Even so we were still the better side in the second half and it was just one of those games that brought a run of four wins to an end.
Today we go in search of a run of four wins again for the first time since.

The teams were;
Leeds: Neil Sullivan, Gary Kelly (Jonathan Douglas 89), Paul Butler, Matthew Kilgallon, Dan Harding, Liam Miller, Shaun Derry, Eddie Lewis, David Healy (Frazer Richardson 79), Rob Hulse, Robbie Blake (Danny Pugh 90). Subs not used: Ian Bennett, Sean Gregan.
Burnley: Brian Jensen, Michael Duff (Wade Elliott 79), Keith Lowe, Frank Sinclair, John McGreal, Jon Harley, John Spicer (Danny Karbassiyoon 79), Micah Hyde, James O'Connor, Nathan Dyer, Ade Akinbiyi. Subs not used: Lee Grant, Garreth O'Connor, Gifton Noel-Williams.

"Frazer has been fantastic. What you can I do – what do you want me to do?"

Hohohaha! Don't think so...

No kom godfølelsen - come on leeds !

Luton ligger under. 0-2 hjemme for Plyten.

Men 1-0...

bli avgjørende her...

Synd at Barnsley vant, men bra at colchester utligna.

Men 1-0...

Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

Heath boosts Leeds' hopes
Leeds 1 Burnley 0

Leeds endured another nerve-jangling finish but clung on to Matt Heath's first-half goal to boost their hopes of Coca-Cola Championship survival.

Heath outjumped the visitors' defence to power home a 21st-minute header from Alan Thompson's corner, while Frazer Richardson saw his 35-yard first-half volley clatter the crossbar.
The home side were unable to find a second goal and anxiously defended their narrow advantage against a disappointing Burnley outfit.
Dennis Wise's relegation-threatened side stormed out of the blocks in a game they dared not lose with Heath giving them a deserved lead.
But in the closing seconds of the first half Leeds goalkeeper Casper Ankergren pulled off a fine save to block Wayne Thomas' goalbound shot.
Leeds were without suspended skipper Jonathan Douglas, so Robbie Blake returned to the starting line-up, with David Healy handed the captain's armband for the remainder of the season.
Richardson returned to the back four in place of Rui Marques, while Tresor Kandol made way for Richard Cresswell, who shook off a knee injury.
Burnley manager Steve Cotterill named an unchanged starting line-up for the fourth match running.
Healy went close to giving Leeds a flying start but his low shot on the turn in the penalty area was collected by Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen.
Slick passing down the right then set Cresswell free and his low cross was hacked clear by Thomas, while Radostin Kishishev was off target with a raking shot from 30 yards.
Leeds were not to be denied the opener, Heath easing early tension on the terraces when he outjumped Burnley's defence to power home a header from Thompson's corner.
Leeds promptly defended two quick corners before Richardson thundered a 30-yard volley onto the crossbar with Jensen well beaten.
The home side's tails were up and they stormed forward again with Jensen this time tipping Cresswell's header from Heath's flick-on over the crossbar.
Paul McVeigh rifled a shot over the bar in a rare foray forward for the visitors before Heath went close to adding a second from another Thompson corner.
Neither side created a goalscoring chance in the second period until Lewis just failed to latch on to Richardson's cross at the far post.
Healy then swivelled onto a loose ball in the area but failed to keep it down, while at the other end McVeigh and then James O'Connor blazed high and wide from outside the area.
Thompson stroked a trademark free-kick straight at Jensen but with 15 minutes of the game remaining the second half had barely flickered into life.
Wise made his intentions clear when he replaced Blake with defender Rui Marques in the final quarter, while not even the introduction of substitutes Ade Akinbiyi and John Spicer could inspire Burnley out of their end-of-season torpor.

Heath raises Leeds hopes
Leeds United 1 Burnley 0

Leeds owed a crucial victory in their survival struggle to another central defender, with Matt Heath going forward to head the winner at Elland Road.

Last Saturday, his centre-half partner Lubomir Michalik clinched three points with an 87th-minute header against Plymouth.
Heath’s goal came after 21 minutes but for much of the rest of the match his side were hanging on.
David Healy was appointed captain in the absence of Jonathan Douglas, who was suspended for the rest of the season following his 15th yellow card, and then a red, in Monday’s defeat at Colchester.
Northern Ireland striker Healy threatened in the fourth minute, turning smartly and hitting a low shot that forced Brian Jensen into a save.
Leeds had dropped back into the bottom three with the setback at Colchester and there was clearly great determination in the ranks to put their survival bid back on track.
They maintained the pressure and, after eight minutes, Richard Cresswell threatened with an overhead kick but Jensen saved comfortably.
It was a different matter after 21 minutes when the visiting goalkeeper could do nothing to prevent Heath giving Leeds the lead. The 25-year-old defender went forward and rose at the far post to meet a corner from Alan Thompson which he headed down and in.
It was Heath’s third goal for the club he joined from Coventry for a loan spell before signing a short-term contract to the end of the season.
Burnley beat Leeds at Turf Moor in November when they were flying high. They then went 19 games without a win — 18 of them in the Championship — and dropped into relegation danger before three consecutive victories lifted them to safety.
But yesterday they offered little threat to Leeds as they chased a second goal. Frazer Richardson was within inches of getting it after 23 minutes with a 40-yarder that beat Jensen and bounced to safety off the top of the bar.
Two minutes later, Jensen saved a Cresswell header and after 37 minutes somehow managed to deny Heath.
The Elland Road fans roared as the defender met another Thompson corner but there were gasps of amazement when they saw the ball in the hands of the Burnley goalkeeper rather than the net.
Burnley livened themselves up at the start of the second half and after 51 minutes Andy Gray, nephew of legendary Leeds player Eddie, had a chance to mark his return to Elland Road, where he began his career, with the equaliser. Gray met a low cross from Steve Jones at the near post but Casper Ankergren was able to fall on the ball to save.
Eric Djemba-Djemba made a strong run after 68 minutes before he was halted at the edge of the Leeds penalty area and Paul McVeigh moved on to the loose ball but his shot was deflected over for a corner.
Leeds were nothing like the dominant force of the first half and their attacks were few and far between.
When they did win a free-kick on the right after 72 minutes, Thompson directed his effort straight at Jensen.
The Leeds fans were growing anxious at the lack of the second goal that would have made the points safe.
There were groans every time Burnley won the ball and mounted an attack and they were relieved when Michael Gray managed to take the sting out of a Jones effort after 81 minutes, allowing Ankergren to claim the ball.

Spiller egentlig ingen rolle!

Dennis trying to keep Wise head
Dennis Wise belied his hot-head reputation after watching his Leeds side boost their survival chances with a crucial 1-0 home win over Burnley.
Wise, a quick-tempered terrier of a midfielder during his playing days at Wimbledon and Chelsea, did his best to portray calm after another nail-biting finish at Elland Road.
Leeds hung on to Matt Heath's towering first-half header to bounce back from a damaging Easter Monday defeat at Colchester when anything other than three points would have left them staring at relegation with three games to go. But after another tense finish Wise insisted he was not feeling the strain.
He said: "No, I'm fine, seriously. Gus (Poyet) is a bit erratic as you see, but no I'm fine.
"You have to try to keep your wits about you a little bit and not cave in. I'm not one to cave in anyway."
Leeds dominated the first half against a Burnley side that looked anything but one of the Championship's form teams.
The Clarets had won their previous three matches, but Leeds should have wrapped the game up in the first half.
Frazer Richardson saw his thundering 30-yard volley rebound off the crossbar soon after Heath had broken the deadlock and Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen then kept out Richard Cresswell's header in brilliant fashion.
Leeds remain in the bottom three but moved level on points with Hull who drew with Colchester, while Barnsley and Leicester, who lost, are two points better off. Bottom two Luton and Southend both suffered home defeats.
Wise said: "We've pulled Hull closer and also now I think Leicester are two points in front of us as well. It's interesting.
"It's been down to the players. It would have been easy to go flat (after defeat at Colchester), but they showed they were up for it, ready for it and they're having a real bash at it.
"One thing I can say is I can't fault their commitment and character for what they've done.
"It's taken us a long time to try to sort this situation out, a long time, but we're gradually getting there. We'll have to wait and see."
Wise quickly shifted his focus to next Saturday's trip to former club Southampton, who still have plenty to do to secure a play-off spot.
He added: "I'm looking forward to it. I think they got beaten today, so it's a massive game for them. Expectations there were very high at the start of the season to get promotion.
"They've got enough quality there to be in the top two to be honest, so they may be in a false position where they are."
Burnley manager Steve Cotterill conceded his players left him frustrated after the first period, but insisted his side had been in command after the break.
Cotterill said: "The second half we dominated. I don't think they got in our half hardly in the second half.
"But that's probably going to happen, especially if they get their noses in front they're not going to gamble too much at the end.
"But it was frustrating in the first half because we didn't do the things we did in the second.
"We looked as if we'd had a few results and it was a sigh of relief for us in the first period.
"But after half-time we were a lot better and played with more zip, a bit more devilment, but not quite enough."
Cotterill conceded his side had found it difficult to create any openings due to Leeds' determined defending.
"Part of that was decent defending by them, but you would be right with that assessment.
"But had we played like that for the full 90 minutes they wouldn't have got near our goal to score in the first place."

Manager Says-Leeds 1-0 Clarets
Steve Cotterill will be hoping the performance in this match will be a blip with far too many players seeming to be underpar. James O'Connor, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Andy Gray all disappointed yesterday compared to their recent form.
Lets hope we can simply put this loss behind us and return to winning ways and the entertaining football that saw us comprehensively beat Plymouth,Birmingham and Cardiff in recent times. Lets start with the next match at home to Norwich this Tuesday night. This is our game in hand and where three points would assure safety barring a goal difference disaster. The 54 points would also equal last season's tally with a maximum of 9 points and a final total of 63 points achievable from our last three remaining games aginst WBA (H), Sunderland (A) and Coventry (H).
Steve had this to say about the Leeds result:
'The second half we dominated. I don't think they got in our half hardly in the second half.
'But that's probably going to happen, especially if they get their noses in front they're not going to gamble too much at the end.
'But it was frustrating in the first half because we didn't do the things we did in the second.
'We looked as if we'd had a few results and it was a sigh of relief for us in the first period.
"Leeds are difficult to play against especially when they have a crowd like they do at Elland Road. We knew it would be tough, but having said that if we had been better in the first-half we may have got something out of the game. But after half-time we were a lot better and played with more zip, a bit more devilment, but not quite enough.'
"We said going into the game that we had to head it well because they will stick balls in your box, create havoc and look for the knock-downs.
"The keeper got blocked for the goal, but we could have dealt with it. That's the disappointing part because we have worked hard on set-plays, but today it's undone us.
"We missed out on three headers and one of them has ended up in the back of the net. It isn't something which we didn't work on in training on Friday either so we're disappointed with the goal to say the least."
