Første cupkamp på Elland Road for min del  :D

Kuriositet:
"It was on May 31, 1920 that Leeds United were elected to the Football League, polling 31 votes to step into the Second Division along with Cardiff City, who had polled 23 votes. United's first ever fixture in the Second Division was against Port Vale."

SUNDERLAND: STAT PACK
Andrew Dalton provides the stats ahead of Sunderland away…

PUBLISHED 02 JANUARY 2015 AT 09:00

0 85SUNDERLAND
It’s the first weekend of the new year and that can only mean one thing, the FA Cup third round as Sunderland and Leeds renew their rivalries.

Sunderland’s best FA Cup run: Winners twice 1937 v Preston North End 3-1 and in 1973 v Leeds United 1-0.

Leeds United’s best FA Cup run: Winners in 1972 v Arsenal 1-0.

Leeds United’s Last Five Visits to Sunderland:
December 26th 2006 - Sunderland 2-0 Leeds, Championship
December 26th 2004 - Sunderland 2-3 Leeds, Championship
December 26th 2002 - Sunderland 1-2 Leeds, Premiership
November 18th 2001 - Sunderland 2-0 Leeds, Premiership
March 31st 2001 - Sunderland 0-2 Leeds, Premiership

Sunderland Have Met Leeds Five Times Previously in the FA Cup:
May 5th 1973 FA Cup Final - Sunderland 1-0 Leeds United
March 11th 1967 FA Cup Fifth round - Sunderland 1-1 Leeds United
March 15th 1967 FA Cup Fifth round replay - Leeds United 1-1 Sunderland
March 20th 1967 FA Cup Fifth round 2nd replay - Leeds United 2-1 Sunderland (played at Boothferry Park)
January 8th 1927 FA Cup Third round - Leeds United 3-2 Sunderland

Five Who Have Played for Both:
Michael Bridges â€" The North Shields born striker came through as a trainee at Sunderland in November 1995. In his first spell at the club he made 92 appearances and scoring 21 goals before joining Leeds in the summer of 1999. Sadly for Bridges, his four-year stay at Elland Road was blighted by injury but in his first season at the club he managed 22 goals. In total he made 82 appearances. He rejoined the Black Cats initially on from Bolton in September 2004 before signing 3 months later. In his second spell he made 20 appearances, scoring once.

Liam Miller â€" Miller joined Leeds on loan from Manchester United in November 2005 and will be remembered for his last minute winner at Southampton. In total he made 29 appearances for the Whites. In August 2006 he joined Sunderland on a free transfer and appeared 60 times for the Black Cats, hitting the back of the net 3 times.

Neill Collins â€" The defender joined Sunderland from Dumbarton in August 2004 and would stay at Sunderland for over three years and would go on to make 24 appearances for the side. From there spells at Hartlepool, Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Preston soon followed. He joined Leeds in March 2010 initially on loan, making 32 appearances for the Whites.

Brian Deane â€" Deano joined Leeds in the summer of 1993 as a direct replacement for Lee Chapman. In his first spell at the club he scored 38 goals in 169 appearances. From their he rejoined Sheffield United and had spells at Benfica, Middlesbrough, Leicester City and West Ham before rejoining the Whites in the summer of 2004. In his second spell he scored seven goals in 33 games. He joined Sunderland in March 2005, making four substitute appearances.

Tore Andre Flo â€" Flo joined Sunderland in August 2002 from Glasgow Rangers but his spell lasted just under a year having scored six times in 33 appearances. From Sunderland, spells at Sienna and Valerenga, before Leeds came calling in January 2007. The Norwegian hit the back of the net four times in 24 appearances for the Whites.

5 FA Cup 3rd Round Memories:
January 3rd remember the date...No fan inside Old Trafford will ever forget the date in 2010 as League One Leeds upset the odds against the Premiership Champions thanks to solitary strike from Jermaine Beckford.

Fast forward a year later and Leeds were at it again, this time at the Emirates Stadium as they were moments away from causing another cup upset. Having taken the lead from a Robert Snodgrass penalty in the 54th minute gave Leeds the lead but a last minute spot kick from Cesc Fabregas earned a replay for the Gunners.

In January 1996, Leeds travelled to the Baseball Ground to face First Division Derby County and found themselves 2-0 down in the second half, but goals from Gary Speed, Brian Deane, Gary McAllister and Tony Yeboah earned the Whites a trip to Bolton Wanderers in the 4th round.

January 2nd 1999 may not be a date this fondly remembered by many Leeds United fans, but it was the date they escaped from non league Rushden & Diamonds by the skin of the teeth. Having gone down to 10 men, following the sending off, of Jonathan Woodgate in the 76th minute, Leeds held on for a replay, despite Adrian Foster missing a glorious chance for the Conference side.

Did you know that Mark Viduka scored in every 3rd round game he played in for Leeds? In season 2000-01 he scored the winner at home to Barnsley, the following year he scored the opener in our 2-1 defeat away at Cardiff. In 2003 he scored from the spot away at Scunthorpe and a year later he scored our only goal in a 4-1 home defeat against Arsenal.

Leeds United’s Last Five FA Cup Third Round Games:
January 4th 2014 - Rochdale 2-0 Leeds United
January 5th 2013 - Leeds United 1-1 Birmingham City
January 9th 2012 - Arsenal 1-0 Leeds United
January 8th 2011 - Arsenal 1-1 Leeds United
January 3rd 2010 - Manchester United 0-1 Leeds United

Sunderland’s Last Five FA Cup Third Round Games:
January 5th 2014 - Sunderland 3-1 Carlisle United
January 5th 2013 - Bolton Wanderers 2-2 Sunderland
January 8th 2012 - Peterborough United 0-2 Sunderland
January 8th 2011 - Sunderland 1-2 Notts County
January 2nd 2010 - Sunderland 3-0 Barrow

Off-Topic / Socrates er død
December 04, 2011, 11:10:50
Ein stor fotballspiller er død.
1982, VM i Spania, det første VM eg husker å ha fulgt fra a-å, og det fantastiske Brasillaget ledet av Socrates - det er sånt som gjør oss til livslange fotballelskere.

RIP Socrates!
