Where are the Leeds United managers sacked by Massimo Cellino now as Neil Redfearn lands new job - Leeds Live
For only the second time in five years Leeds United have just completed a whole season without changing their head coach.
Marcelo Bielsa's appointment last June was a significant upgrade in terms of the quality on the bench, as he became the third man to take charge of the club in a year, with Andrea Radrizzani hiring and firing Thomas Christiansen and Paul Heckingbottom during his first year at the club.
The Argentine will return for a second season, which will make him the first boss since Simon Grayson to start two consecutive opening matches for the club - which marks a significant departure from the days of Radrizzani's predecessor.
In 24 wild months the trigger happy Massimo Cellino sacked a total of six managers, as he lived up to his Italian nickname 'Il mangia-allenatori', or 'the manager eater' in English.
"Coaches are like watermelons, you only know [how good it is] when you open it," he said when hiring his first manager, Dave 'The Hock' Hockaday.
But where are all the managers who were handed their P45 by Cellino now?
Brian McDermott - sacked 30 May 2014
McDermott managed to get sacked twice
The former Reading boss managed to be sacked twice by Cellino, including a transfer deadline day dismissal in January 2014, which was before the Italian even owned the club. That bizarre turn of events set an apt precedent, with McDermott getting his marching order for real at the end of that season, when United finished in 15th place.
Later that year he returned to Arsenal, his former side as a player, working as a scout for just over a year, when he rejoined Reading as manager. He was sacked after six months and since then has been linked with a series of jobs but has not yet returned to management.
Dave Hockaday - sacked 28 August 2014
The Hock
And who did Cellino get in to replace McDermott? The bloke who had been sacked by then-non league side Forest Green Rovers the year before, of course.
Dave Hockaday's appointment remains one of the strangest things to ever happen to Leeds United in their storied history. Yes, it really happened. And wasn't part of some lucid nightmare we all collectively suffered.
The Hock would only last 70 days, sacked shortly after muttering something about being in the Champions League in a few years.

He then rocked up at Swindon Supermarine, before taking a job with the Coventry City youth set-up, where he lasted less than six months. In October 2015 he was given the Kidderminster Harriers job, but was gone by January 2016.
Last spotted working as the Head of Male Football at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.
Darko Milanic - sacked 25 October 2014
Remember him? Course you don't
Holds the record for the short tenure under Cellino in English football, which is quite the achievement.
The Slovenian lasted just over a month at Elland Road (32 days in all), managing just six games, drawing three and losing three.
He had 23 months left to run on his two-year deal at the time of his sacking and so took his time enjoying gardening leave before getting back into management. In March 2016 he returned to his former side Maribor, winning the title that season and reaching the group stages of last season's Champions League, which included a 7-0 loss at home to Liverpool.
Maribor have won this season's Slovenian PrvaLiga.
Neil Redfearn - left 20 May 2015
Redfearn had two caretaker stints before landing the top job
Academy boss Redfearn was a popular appointment at Elland Road when he was given the nod until the end of the 2014-15 season following two caretaker stints.
Leeds finished 15th again and Redfearn soon fell out with Cellino, but only after an extraordinary hour-long press conference from the Italian which proceeded a period in which no-one was really sure who was in charge of the team at Elland Road.
Redfearn left the club that summer, joining Rotherham as boss in October, but was sacked by February.
As the manager of Doncaster Rovers Belles, he won the Women's Super League 2 before being appointed as the boss of Liverpool Ladies. He would resign after three months, taking charge of just one game.
After working in the media, he was this week confirmed as Newcastle United under-23s head coach.
Uwe Rosler - sacked 19 October 2015
Rosler didn't last long
Another blink-and-you'll miss it stint, with the former Brentford boss only taking charge for 12 games, with Leeds sitting in 18th place.
See, told you it was worse then.
In July 2016 he landed the Fleetwood Town job, but was sacked in this January after losing seven games in a row. Former Leeds favourite John Sheridan replaced him in the dugout for the Cod Army for the rest of the season.
Was appointed manager of Swedish side Malmo last summer.
Steve Evans - sacked 31 May 2016
Evans almost managed a full season
Cellino made a round half-dozen sackings in May 2016, when he sent Steve Evans on his merry way after seven months in charge.
Evans has kept himself busy though, taking the Mansfield job in November 2016 before joining Peterborough United 14 months later.
He would last less than a year at London Road as he was fired in January 2019.
Evans was appointed as League One side Gillingham boss this month.
