Leeds Sign Adam Forshaw – Boro Fan View (Graeme Bandeira)
Charlie SoppJanuary 18, 2018
For the biggest deal in the last 16 years at Leeds United it was only right we did the #PAS Fan View. It’s been rather difficult to get them this season as finding fans from clubs abroad is tricky to say the least. Graeme is a well-known Boro fan on social media and does know his football, and this will help fans get an idea of the new man who signed today.
1. Adam Forshaw, not a clinical player going forward by any means, how would you best describe his style of play when he’s at his best?
Graeme – “Great at ball retention. Very neat and tidy and not over elaborate. Best described as industrious.â€
2. We’ve just had a quick chat on Twitter, I’ve explained we can’t keep hold of the ball and have no composure or control in the middle of the pitch, so is Forshaw the man for the job?
Graeme – “Definitely the man for the job if that’s the criteria that needs to be met. He’ll do that comfortably with minimum fuss.â€
3. As a fan sometimes you look only with your teams colours when the goggles go on. Realistically in today’s market, is an upfront fee of £3m for Forshaw a good deal for both clubs?
Graeme – “It’s a very good deal for Boro. If you are after creativity then he’s over-priced but in terms of knitting a side together he could be vital so maybe you are just within budget.â€
4. If you could compare him to a player in the world in terms of style and taking ability out of the situation, who and why?
Graeme – “I’d compare him to Jack Wilshere. He lacks the passing range of Jack and the goal threat but in terms of keeping things ticking over and collecting from his defence he’s comparable. Occasionally looks for the forward pass which he can deliver but not often enough. I guess that depends on who you have upfront and if they make the right runs for him.â€
5. Best attribute?
Graeme – “Always makes himself available for the ball and doesn’t shirk responsibility.â€
6. Weaknesses?
Graeme – “Doesn’t assist goals or score which for me is a poor showing for a midfielder.â€
7. I’ve seen Boro fans thanking him for his attitude and commitment, is this the general feeling with Boro fans?
Graeme – “Yes. He’s a good lad. A witty scouser who gets on with everyone and always played a committed game for Boro. We all wish him well and hope he can kick on and start adding goals to his game. If he does that his value will soar even higher.â€
8. Can he improve at Leeds, or are we getting a player who’s very much found his zone?
Graeme – “He can definitely improve at Leeds but he needs to take this opportunity and cement his place as a fans favourite. He has the attitude, the desire, the skill set but to me he lacks confidence and sometimes takes a backseat role which doesn’t do him any favours because I believe he is capable of more. Advice. Shoot more! You never know….you might score a few.â€
Big thanks to Graeme, he’s been in dialogue with Leeds fans throughout the day and this is much appreciated. He knows his stuff, no doubt about it.
