Meget bra lån dette. Men det spørs vel om ikke Sodje blir en squadplayer i CCC hvis Leeds rykker opp. Vi må kanskje ha bedre spillende stoppere enn Sodje og Naylor i CCC. Men bevares. I league one holder disse 2 så det holder

Mannen er ute av kontrakt til sommeren:

Sodje just happy to be playing

Date: 04 April 2009
By Phil Hay
So relieved is Sam Sodje to have resumed his professional career that the 29-year-old defender is not troubling himself over the prospect of being out of contract this summer.

Sodje feared that his playing days might come to an abrupt end because of injury last year and, having joined Leeds United on loan for the final stages of his current deal at Reading, he is happy to allow the forthcoming close season to look after itself.

The centre-back agreed a three-year contract when he joined Reading for a fee of £350,000 from Brentford in 2006, but the last 12 months of his initial agreement at the Madejski Stadium have been blighted by a severe injury to one of his knees earlier this season.

Sodje required surgery to repair damaged cartilage and was told by his doctor to think seriously about the possibility of retirement, but he came safely through a long period of rehabilitation and was fit enough to complete a temporary transfer to Leeds before the end of the Football League's emergency loan window.

.....

Reading could also step forward with a new offer – his contractual position will have been a side issue while his fight against a serious injury went on – but the defender plans to enjoy the remainder of the season without concentrating heavily on his own future.

"Right now, I'm just delighted to be playing," he said. "I'm laughing at the moment – and it's not about Reading or anything else – it's just about me being able to play.

"I'm not cocky but I do believe in my ability, and if I'm playing then I should be okay.

"This is my last year with Reading. I've spoken to the manager and they're a great club so you never know, but I'm just happy to be playing again."

Leeds United to extend Royals defender deal

Sam Sodje will play his part in the Whites' promotion push and stay at Elland Road until the end of the season.

The central defender is approaching the end of his first month at the club and Leeds have an option to keep him for the final games of the regular league season and the nerve-racking end of campaign play-off fixtures

I am loving life at Leeds

Sam Sodje has spoken of his delight at the extension of his loan with Leeds United which allows him to play in the League One play-offs.
The defender described as "a big thing" the deal reached between Leeds and his parent club Reading, who agreed last week to leave the 29-year-old at Elland Road for the rest of the 2008-09 campaign.
United exercised an option to extend Sodje's stay beyond the month-long contract negotiated with the Royals on the last day of the Football League's emergency loan market in March.
His initial spell was due to end after Saturday's 1-0 victory over Hartlepool United, but Leeds manager Simon Grayson wanted to assess the centre-back's fitness before committing himself to a longer deal.
He was in no doubt about wanting to retain Sodje last week, however, and United renewed the defender's contract up to and including May 24 – the date of the play-off final.
"I'm really happy and it's good for me," said Sodje. "It's a big thing because I'm loving my football right now and the games at Leeds are going to get bigger and bigger.
"I've got a smile on my face, so you know I'm enjoying myself. I came to Leeds to get games and that's been happening. It's great that I'm staying here."

Three Sodje brothers jailed for taking charity money

(From left to right) Ex-rugby player Bright Sodje and ex-footballers Stephen Sodje and Efe Sodje were jailed for fraud in 2017
A sporting family siphoned off cash from their own charity set up to help African children, it can be reported.

Ex-footballers Efe Sodje, 46, and Stephen Sodje, 43, and ex-rugby player Bright Sodje, 52, were found guilty and jailed for the fraud in 2017.

The case can only be reported now following the conclusion of a separate trial involving former Reading and Nigeria footballer Sam Sodje, 39.

Earlier on Monday, he was cleared at the Old Bailey of money laundering.

The fraud trial in 2017 had heard how the family set up the Sodje Sports Foundation (SSF) in 2009, ostensibly to help provide facilities in Nigeria.

However, cash raised at black-tie dinners, auctions, charity football matches and a clay pigeon shoot went into Sodje bank accounts, prosecutor Julian Christopher QC said.

In once instance, in 2011, there was a gala dinner at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester for the SSF and the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

The £150-a-head black-tie event raised almost £11,500, but Mr Christopher said "not a penny" went to the hospital.

 Efe SodjeGetty Images
Retired footballer Efe Sodje was described as "the face of the charity" by the judge
Judge Michael Topolski QC told the defendants: "You have brought shame upon yourselves and your family."

He said "at least £63,000 can be shown to have been received by the fund", and added that this did not include cash donations.

The defendants "went out of their way" to ensure that proper records were not kept, he said.

Any good works done in the past would be "forever tainted by their dishonest and disreputable conduct", he added.

Stephen Sodje, of Bexley, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for receiving £30,000 in charity funds.

Efe Sodje, of Cheadle in Greater Manchester, who was "the face" of the charity, was given 18 months in jail for receiving £7,500 from the SSF and an unknown amount from a clay pigeon shooting event.

Bright Sodje, of Sale in Greater Manchester, was jailed for 21 months for receiving £3,000 from the charity and signing cheques to other family members totalling £18,000.

'Misused privileged position'

The Charity Commission worked with the National Crime Agency to secure the prosecution.

Tracy Howarth, the commission's head of regulatory compliance, said the defendants had "misused their privileged position to exploit donors and supporters, and their financial gain came at the expense of the children and causes the charity was supposed to support".

She added: "The outcome of this case sends a strong message that the deliberate, wilful and cynical abuse of charity for private financial gain will be investigated and will not go unpunished."

Reporting restrictions meant the brothers' convictions could only be reported following the conclusion of the separate money-laundering case.

Former Reading and Nigeria defender Sam Sodje was cleared of money-laundering charges
Efe Sodje was cleared of money laundering at the Old Bailey in January 2018 but Emmanuel Ehikhamen, 53, of south-east London, and Andrew Oruma, 50, of Bexley, south London, were convicted.

The case against Sam Sodje collapsed and his retrial began on 7 January 2019.

Mr Sodje, who also played for Charlton Athletic, Brentford and Leeds United during his career, was charged with four counts of taking part in a fraud in which bank accounts were used to channel money from companies around the world.

He was found not guilty of two of the charges on 14 January and cleared of the remaining two counts earlier on Monday.

Another of the brothers, Akpo Sodje, 37, moved to Dubai and refused to return to Britain for questioning.
