Leeds-Live spekulerer også i hva start-elleveren blir:
De ser tilbake på hvilke endringer som ble gjort i 2019 og 2020:
2019 changesAt QPR, there was nobody hugely inexperienced drafted in. Jamie Shackleton, Aapo Halme, Leif Davis, Jack Clarke, Lewis Baker and Tyler Roberts were the new faces after the New Year’s Day 4-2 defeat at Nottingham Forest.
They replaced Kalvin Phillips (suspended), Pontus Jansson (a regular needing a rest), Barry Douglas (injured), Kemar Roofe (a regular with an injury history), Mateusz Klich (started every league game) and Pablo Hernandez (veteran regular).
Bailey Peacock-Farrell stayed in the team with no trustworthy back-up to come in, Luke Ayling had not started seven of the previous 11 games, Adam Forshaw’s season had not started until late October and Jack Harrison had only come back into the XI on December 23.
Ezgjan Alioski was the strange one in 2019. He had started the vast majority of matches and looked primed for a rest, but Bielsa kept him on the left flank.
2020 changesArsenal has to be considered a slightly different case given the occasion and quality of opposition.
Illan Meslier came in as a trusted, long-term option in goal. Gaetano Berardi replaced Liam Cooper, who has a history of injuries.
Barry Douglas came in for Helder Costa needing minutes. Robbie Gotts replaced Stuart Dallas, almost as an apology from Bielsa. While Patrick Bamford replaced the departed Eddie Nketiah.
Ayling stayed in from the team which had drawn at West Bromwich Albion on New Year’s Day, though his season only started on October 5 and there may have been a hint of sentimentality from Bielsa.
Ben White, Phillips and Harrison all stayed in the team despite playing a lot of football in the first half of the season. Perhaps their quality was needed against the Gunners.
Klich was another who stayed in the team and looked primed for a rest after starting every league game before then, but Bielsa kept him in.
Finally, Alioski stayed on from the West Brom draw too, but he had been in and out of the team all season without building up any serious fatigue.
Hva så med 2021?2021 changes
Kiko Casilla looks nailed on to come in for Meslier given his lack of pitch time this term, despite his level of experience between the sticks.
Jamie Shackleton has to start, but it remains to be seen whether Bielsa moves out Dallas or Klich for the 21-year-old.
Leif Davis for Alioski, Ian Poveda for Raphinha, Pablo Hernandez for Rodrigo and Helder Costa for Harrison look pretty safe bets too.
However, Davis was one of those surprisingly missing from the squad at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. He should start at Crawley if he’s available.
Roberts is the elephant in the room. He would have been nailed on for a start this Sunday, but Bielsa said he was unavailable at Spurs. If he is in contention he should play in the cup, perhaps for Bamford.
If Davis makes it, that would be six changes. Roberts would make it seven. Bielsa’s last meeting with a League Two side in a cup meant seven changes at Salford City.
With Phillips suspended for the next Premier League match, Bielsa may want to keep him sharp here and, who knows, give him the captain’s armband perhaps.
The armband would mean Ayling missing out, which could be sensible given how much football he has played and how critical he has become in the absence of others.
Pascal Struijk could stick in for continuity given how young he still is, but don’t be surprised if Charlie Cresswell or Oliver Casey are drafted in for Ayling.
At the risk of getting into the realms of an entirely new XI, Cody Drameh, Jack Jenkins, Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood look like those to come in if Bielsa feels he can do without Phillips, Dallas, Klich and Bamford, if Roberts doesn’t make it.
