Clapham looks to earn long-term United deal
Jamie Clapham has revealed his loan switch to Leeds United could be extended beyond the initial month-long deal.
The 31-year-old is in line to make his debut in today's lunchtime kick-off at Nottingham Forest after falling out of favour at Wolves.
Clapham, left, who is on loan until the end of next month, was in the stand at Elland Road a week ago when Leeds beat Southend United 4-1 to move on to minus nine points.
He said: "The standard of football in League One is higher than most people think. My career as stalled a bit.
"I have found it hard to get into the team at Wolves and this loan spell at Leeds is a big opportunity for me. At the moment, it is a short-term arrangement but we will see how it goes."
United go to the City Ground looking to extend their winning start to the season to four games, a feat not achieved since the 2000-01 season.
Manager Dennis Wise said: "If we get three points we will frighten the life out of people. Our results so far have already made them sit up and take notice.
"Forest have not won yet, so the pressure is on them. Colin (Calderwood) has been in the job for 15 months and he is under pressure to take them up. It is a big season for them.
"They probably have the biggest wage bill in the division but if it had not been for our 15-point penalty we would probably be joint favourites with them for promotion."
United transfer target Rob Jones, meanwhile, has committed his immediate future to Hibernian after the Scottish club turned down a £400,000 offer for the defender.
The former Grimsby player said: "I am very happy here, it is as simple as that. I am very proud to be the captain of this football club.
"As long as I'm here I will give everything I can and have got. That will not change from the past to the future."
