Leeds United’s victory against Middlesbrough on Saturday marked the first time they had won three consecutive away league matches since November 2011.
It was a wonderful achievement, but Neil Redfearn’s side can go one better this evening when they face Brighton & Hove Albion.
A victory there would not only be Leeds’ sixth in their last seven matches, it would also be the first time they have won four consecutive away games in the league since April 2001.
In short, win tonight and Leeds will do something they have not managed for two months shy of 14 years.
Back then, Leeds defeated Tottenham Hotspur, Charlton Athletic, Sunderland and Liverpool all away from Elland Road and in the midst of what was ultimately a 13-match undefeated streak.
Leeds actually won five straight away matches in that period, also getting the better of West Ham United before Arsenal finally beat them on their next road trip. But that is a record to attempt to replicate on another day.
For now Leeds will be hoping to make it four straight away wins in a row, with their next trip away to Wigan Athletic in early March.
