Ufattelig god idag.
LEEDS United bounced back with a bang thanks to a fine 3-0 success at Bristol City.
But how did the YEP’s Phil Hay rate the performances?
Andy Lonergan - Under little pressure but helped himself and the players in front of him by choosing to go long at the times. One decent save in the second half. 7/10
Luke Ayling - Unusually, neither of Christiansen’s full-backs were required to pull much weight going forward. But safe as houses at the back. 7/10
Matthew Pennington - A brave decision to put him in ahead of Jansson but fully justified by Pennington’s performance. Always one step ahead of City’s attack. 8/10
Liam Cooper - A big and stable effort on a day when Leeds needed their captain to set an example. Bristol City were toothless but Christiansen’s defence gave them nothing. 7/10
Gaetano Berardi - Had seen off Leko and fought his way into the comfort zone when he lost his temper and headbutted Matty Taylor. A needless red card and a three-match ban will follow. 5/10
Ronaldo Vieira - Injected energy and enthusiasm into the midfield and showed why so many people were calling for his inclusion. Got everywhere and proved a spoke in City’s wheel. 8/10
Eunan O’Kane - A hundred times happier with more muscle around him and his through ball caused the chaos which led to the second goal. 8/10
Samuel Saiz - Centrally or out on the left, as he was at Ashton Gate, he never fails to look like a class act. A yard away from a hat-trick. 9/10
Kalvin Phillips - A revelation at number 10 and seemed invigorated by the chance to play further forward. The star of the first half, despite Saiz’s finishes. 9/10
Gjanni Alioski - Made much more of an impact than he had in several of his previous games and his pace made him a useful outlet. 7/10
Pierre-Michel Lasogga - Touched the ball 12 times against Reading. Looked like a completely different player at Ashton Gate. Created one goal, scored another. 8/10
Substitutes:
Hadi Sacko (for Alioski, 71) - Almost took pity on Bristol City. Could have murdered them late on but the game was won. 5/10
Vurnon Anita (for Saiz, 83) - Completed an easy shift for all of seven minutes. 5/10
Jay-Roy Grot (for Lasogga, 89) - A token substitution which allowed Lasogga a deserved ovation. 5/10
Subs (not used): Felix Wiedwald, Pontus Jansson, Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez.
Referee: Oliver Langford (West Midlands) - An fairly easy day until the red card situation flared up. Appeared to get Berardi’s right at any rate. 6/10
Attendance: 24,435
