Signeringen av Limbombe ser ut til å feile...?
Ligue 1 side Toulouse, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, have emerged as the new favourites to secure the signature of NEC's 22-year-old winger Anthony Limbombe.
Mechelen-born Limbombe, who is of Congolese descent, has been a key first-team player for NEC in recent years. He scored 7 goals in the Eredivisie last season whilst also laying on another 7 goals for his teammates, and it is this form that has attracted interest from a number of potential suitors.
Reputable clubs such as Hamburger SV and Club Brugge have been linked with the player, but Toulouse are now the favourites to land Limbombe, who has refused to train in recent days in an attempt to force through a move.
Leeds were said to be closing in on Limbombe after Hamburg and Brugge pulled out of the race, but Toulouse, who finished 17th in Ligue 1 last season, are reported to be willing to meet NEC's £1.7M valuation of the winger.
A deal could be completed by the end of the week.
