Championship side Leeds United have submitted a bid for Icelandic full-back Haukur Heidar Hauksson, according to media outlet MBL in Iceland.
The 24-year-old was a part of the Icelandic national team squad who beat England 2-1 at this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France.
Hauksson has featured in 17 domestic games for his side AIK Solna so far in 2016, scoring five goals and assisting a further two.
Leeds United have reportedly been in this summer’s transfer market searching for a right-back, despite already having Gaetano Berardi and Lewie Coyle who both have first-team experience in the position.
Despite Fotbolti’s claims that Leeds have submitted a bid for the full-back, reports are yet to suggest a fee behind any potential bid.
Hauksson has made seven senior national team appearances since making his debut in January 2015.
The Whites have already been active during this summer, signing goalkeeper Rob Green, defender Kyle Bartley, midfielder Matt Grimes and forwards Hadi Sacko, Kemar Roofe and Marcus Antonsson.
The West Yorkshire outfit have also sold midfielder Lewis Cook to Premier League side AFC Bournemouth for a reported £6 million fee.
Leeds travel to Queens Park Rangers for their season opener in the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship.
