Francesco Marroccu has denied claims that an agreement is in place to take up the Sporting Director role at Leeds United, reports Sport Witness.
It was reported last week that Marroccu was being lined up to replace Nicola Salerno at the West Yorkshire club, but today those claims have been answered.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Marroccu said that “I’m going to study football, abroad, in Italy, but I stress that I did not leave because I had agreements with others.
“There is nothing, I have already explained why I said my goodbyes.â€
Despite Marroccu’s poor record last season with Cagliari, there were suggestions that he was being lined up for a job at Elland Road, and to work with Massimo Cellino, who he had worked with when Cellino owned Cagliari previously.
With the rumours of an agreement being dismissed, it remains to be seen whether Marroccu will be the man that Cellino will bring in to help take the club forward.
