With Leeds United closing on a deal to sign Pablo Hernandez from Swansea City (Yorkshire Evening Post), it is clear to see that Garry Monk is a big admirer of the attacking midfielder.
Monk worked with Hernandez during his time in charge at Swansea City, and he utilised him in an attacking midfield role.
Hernandez thrived in a more central position, and Monk’s words about the 31-year-old back in 2014 show just how highly he rates him.
“Pablo is a very good player and I like him a lot,†Monk said to the South Wales Evening Post.
“I think he can offer the squad a lot of quality.
“He has got a very good passing range and he has also brought that work ethic you need into his game — that’s the other side of it.
“All credit goes to Pablo for doing that, and he is a very important player for us right now.â€
Monk seems to have been given more control over transfers at Leeds than other managers, and there is no doubt that Hernandez is his choice.

Hernandez’s impending arrival at Leeds is set to create great excitement, as he is arguably the highest profile player the Yorkshire club have signed in some time.
Hernandez is likely to go straight into Leeds’ starting line-up and play a key role over the upcoming season
