Forgotten left-back Aidan White is set to resume training on Monday, ending his season-long battle with injury.
The 23-year-old has finally overcome the broken foot bone which consigned him to the treatment room midway through Leeds United’s pre-second schedule. White was stretchered off during a friendly at Chesterfield in July and has undergone two operations in the past eight months.
The former academy player is at a critical stage of his career with is contract at Elland Road due to expire at the end of the season in the summer.
His most recent first-team appearance came in May of last year and he is unlikely to be available for any of United’s final five games of this season.
“Aidy’s back training on Monday, in light training,†Redfearn said. “Hopefully he can join in with the group which would be good for him.â€
White made waves when he burst from Leeds’ academy as a teenager in 2008 but he came close to leaving United in the summer of 2012, reaching the end of his previous contract before belatedly agreeing a new three-year deal.
Derby County and Celtic were said to have shown an interest in him at the time.
He is still one of the leading appearance-makers in United’s squad having played 110 times for the club.
