Leeds bydde tydeligvis 700000 pund for Howard og Nicholls som begge er ute av kontrakt neste sommer. Ser ikke helt hva vi skal med en 30-aarig spiss, vi som er saa godt forspent med spisser. Hentet fra YEP:
"Leeds United are set to play hardball with Luton Town after failing with a combined bid for Steve Howard and Kevin Nicholls.
United's offer – believed to have been in the region of £700,000 – was dismissed as "derisory" by Luton boss Mike Newell last week, and Kevin Blackwell will bide his time before deciding whether to return with an improved offer.
Leeds face competition for Nicholls from Wolves, who are understood to have tabled a £400,000 offer for the Luton midfielder despite the absence of a manager at Molineux, and both Norwich and Cardiff have been linked with moves for Howard.
United's interest will be helped by the fact that Nicholls and Howard are out of contract next summer, and Blackwell is unlikely to be tempted to pay over-the-odds for either player with a limited budget available to him.
Howard would add bite to Leeds' attack after scoring 15 times last season, but his presence would give Blackwell an excess of strikers at Elland Road, and the United boss would almost certainly look to create space by parting company with one of his other senior forwards.
Blackwell said today: "We made an offer which we thought was the right valuation for the players concerned.
"Luton have turned it down as they have every right to do. We're monitoring the situation."
