Are Leeds United the subject of a takeover bid?
The ownership of the Yorkshire club is currently up in the air and it remains to be seen whether Massimo Cellino will continue at the Elland Road outfit.
Cellino has been banned from owning Leeds United until May 3rd and whether he will continue or sell the club is still unanswered.
However, the controversial Italian did admit he would not continue his role as president of the club last month, telling the Leeds official site:
‘I have considered in the best interests of the club to postpone any release of my true thoughts and conclusion in relation to the 79 days disqualification verdict of the Football League and it was for not unsettling the harmony of the team in a period of key league tournament matches that I have measured to reveal my decision only today, because the qualification for the 2016 Championship is by now achieved.
For the reason above said, at first I suggested that my intention was to resume in April the office of President of Leeds United Football Club after expiration of the disqualification term.’
Cellino’s words add further fuel to the rumours of a potential takeover of the Yorkshire club, and it would be no surprise to see Genting Group invest in Leeds United.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, Neil Redfearn’s side sit in 13th place in the Sky Bet Championship, having accrued 48 points from 37 league games this season.
