Nketiah looks like he has the potential to be a high class additional. If he was 18 or 19, i'd worry a bit. 20 is a good age. Not so young that he could get over-played but young enough that he should have all the hunger necessary to make his mark.
If Phil is right and his signing means we don't get Kent, so be it but I won't lie, that feels like a big disappointment. From a depth point of view, he would have helped enormously but also the way his drives at teams would have added something we don't have a lot of. I can see why Bielsa thinking he may have been ripe for converting to a 10. I can't help but feel - like James - we've allowed another potentially great addition slip through our fingers.
I have no idea if the French chimney brush is any better or worse than BPF but he's not necessarily what I had in mind as someone to push KC.
We needed a CB and don't have one
We needed a 10 and don't have one
Ultimately, it was our unwillingness/incompetence at adding the depth to the squad that was needed, that cost us last time. It feels exactly the same here. We could still do it but we've hardly gone out there and done our best to ensure we've given ourselves the best possible chance of it. I now feel that we're leaving ourselves in the position of hoping that we don't suffer so many injuries or that some of the kids can really step up. Lap of the Gods.
