Championship side Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign Algerian forward Baghdad Bounedjah, according to DZ Foot.
The striker, who currently plays in Qatar for Al Sadd alongside the likes of Xavi, has a very impressive goal record in the Middle East.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team have reportedly made an offer for the 26-year-old from Oran. The player is now considering his options, having also been linked with a move to Lille in Ligue 1 so far this summer.
Bounedjah has 4 goals in 14 appearances for the Algerian national team, but this season he has been extremely prolific in the Asian Champions League with 9 goals in 8 games in that continental competition.
In total, he scored 28 goals in all tournaments during the 2017/18 campaign and so a move to Leeds would certainly increase their chances of promotion to the Premier League.
In the last few days, we have also seen an Algerian forward sign in the second tier of England as Hilal Soudani completed a move to Nottingham Forest.
Bounedjah has no experience of European football, having played in Algeria, Tunisia and Qatar. Perhaps this is the time for his big step up under an intelligent manager. He has been at Al Sadd since the year 2015.
