Facts:
A number of Premier League and Championship teams named reserve teams in the FA Cup, and then struggled to pick up victories this week.
The likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool all dropped players last weekend - before failing to win when they returned to league action this week.
However, Garry Monk may now feel vindicated for dropping players during Leeds’ cup match against Sutton United.
Sutton won 1-0 against Leeds in one of the major shocks of the fourth round, and Monk was criticised after.
Many Leeds supporters were disappointed that they named such a weak line-up, rather than attempting to win the FA Cup.
However, Monk’s decision to rest some of his key players, appears to have helped strengthen Leeds’ promotion bid.
The Whites’ fully rested squad’s excellent fitness levels could have played a part last night, as Leeds scored a last minute winner to beat Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
