Trundle makes loan move to Leeds, but still has a future at Bristol City
Lee Trundle still has a future at Bristol City, according to manager Gary Johnson.
The £1million striker was yesterday loaned out to League One side Leeds United for a month after falling down the pecking order at Ashton Gate.
But Johnson insisted Trundle could still hope for a first-team recall when he has regained match fitness.
He said: "We've had a discussion and Lee needs to be playing regularly.
"He was unfortunate to be ill when he was due to play against Portsmouth. At the moment, with the weather as it is, it's very difficult to get players outside of the first eleven matches as they're being postponed.
"For whatever reason Lee hasn't been able to command a regular place in our team this season and this move will give him the chance to get those games."
"It's a good move for him for a month, at a good level and we'll see how it goes.
"It will work out for all parties as Lee gets games, Leeds get a new striker and we get a player back in a month's time a lot F***er."
The striker has moved to Elland Road until February 9. He has only made four starts this term, with 15 more appearances from the substitutes' bench, scoring twice.
Trundle joined City in August 2007 from Swansea City. During his Robins career Lee has made 29 starts and 29 substitute appearances, netting eight times.
The forward goes straight into the Leeds squad for their League One clash with Carlisle today, having been handed the number 35 shirt.
"Lee is a proven goalscorer," said United boss Simon Grayson. "He brings something a bit different, and he has a great track record.
"It's good competition for places and he is a good acquisition to the squad."
