‘REALLY EXCITING PAIR’: MANAGER RAVES ABOUT TWO LEEDS TEENAGERS COMING THROUGHLeeds United’s under-23’s head coach Mark Jackson raved about Leeds duo Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt and claimed that they are an ‘exciting pair to work with’, as he told BBC Yorkshire.
Both attackers joined Leeds this summer from Arsenal and Wigan, respectively and it seems as though they are already impressing those in the youth ranks.
Leeds have produced some top-quality youngsters in recent years from the likes of Lewis Cook, Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira, Charlie Taylor and Fabian Delph, to name a few.
But Jackson was asked to share his thoughts on Leeds United’s teenage duo and he had nothing but positive words to say.
“Since I stepped up to the under-23’s, they have been great to work with as have every other player in the group,” said Jackson.
“But the new players who have come through like Joe and Sam Greenwood, they have been fantastic to work with. They have got a real hunger for the game to train, get better and develop themselves.
“What I really like and what really stands out is their work ethic. The will to work and want to play with an intensity which is great for our club and the way we play. It’s really good and exciting pair to work with.”
With Marcelo Bielsa sitting in the main chair at Leeds, any youngster coming through has a chance of being in the first-team picture.
Leeds don’t have much depth in the striker department, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if either Greenwood or Gelhardt are seen in senior colours this season.
But in the meantime, they have to make themselves heard from afar and eventually if they call loud enough, Bielsa will take notice.
