Striker signs up with three-year contract...
Striker Ross McCormack has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The Scotland international, who had one year of his current deal remaining, finalised the terms of his new contract on Friday afternoon.
The player, who celebrates his 26th birthday on Saturday, was delighted to put pen to paper on the deal.
"This was always what I wanted to do," said Ross. "It's perfect timing with the first game of the season being on Saturday, and I was always hopeful that we could get things sorted in time.
"It's my birthday as well on Saturday, hopefully we can get three points, and it's all perfect."
Ross, who scored on his return to the international stage this week, and was second leading goalscorer in the Championship last term, firmly believes that he can play a part in United reaching the Premier League.
"We've got a good squad of players here," said the striker. "There may be a couple more come in, but we've got a good team and we're looking to do well.
"We've had a good pre-season and hopefully we can kick on now. We're looking solid at the back as well which is good."
United boss Neil Warnock was also delighted to see Ross pledge his future to the cause.
"It's been hard work, but I'm really pleased," he said. "Ross had made it clear that he wanted to be with us, and Shaun Harvey has worked extremely hard to get it done.
"Both parties are very happy. Ross has been enjoying his football and he can concentrate on his season now, particularly after scoring his goal for Scotland in midweek."
Ross netted Scotland's third in a 3-1 win against Australia in midweek, and he added: "It was a nice bonus to score. Being part of the squad again was good and to score a goal really capped things off for me. It's been an amazing week."
