REGINIUSSSEN COULD BE ROVERS-BOUND
Tromso defender Tore Reginiussen will undergo a medical at Blackburn next week with a view to a January transfer, according to the Norwegian club.
The 22-year-old, who can also play in midfield, is set to arrive in Lancashire on Sunday and spend a few days with the club after impressing Rovers' scouts with recent displays.

Blackburn warned by Norwegian trialist Reginiussen
Blackburn have been warned by Norwegian defender Tore Reginiussen to make a decision on signing him soon or he will move elsewhere.
"The stay here has been really good, and I think I've showed them in a good fashion what I am capable of," the 22 year old told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"I've told them that I need some time off after a really long season, and therefore I'll take a vacation now. This means that Blackburn need to take a decision now.
"It's not an option for me to stay here for two more weeks so they can be convinced that I'm good enough.
"They must rather say now if they are interested or not."

"He was one of the keys to our survival last season.

HANSTVEIT STARTS HOOPS TRIAL
Erlend Hanstveit began his week-long trial at Celtic on Wednesday but refused to speculate on whether it would lead to a permanent move.
The Brann Bergen defender, 27, has been touted as a solution to the Scottish champions' left-back problem and would be available on a free transfer.
The Norwegian club's captain has been offered a new deal to extend his 10-year stay there but he delayed a decision on his future until after a new head coach was appointed.
Hanstveit said in the Evening Times: "I was invited over here to train with Celtic for a week, so we will see how it goes before it eventually becomes something concrete."
With the departure of Bergen coach Mons Ivar Mjelde and the appointment of former Tromso boss Steinar Nilsen, Hanstveit is ready to act.
"Now the pieces fall into place and it will make it easier to decide," he said.
"The new coach will be in place at Bergen in January, and it is likely I will make my decision about my future before the new year.
"Whatever happens, my relationship with Bergen will remain fine."

HODGSON RUBBISHES HANGELAND TALK
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has denied there has been interest in defender Brede Hangeland from Arsenal.
Hangeland, who signed from FC Copenhagen in January, has been in imperious form for the Cottagers this season, marshalling a lean defence that has frustrated Aston Villa and Liverpool in the last two Premier League games.
Speculation this week suggested the Gunners are keen on the 27-year-old Norway captain, but Hodgson insists there is no truth in the rumours.
However, he admitted, if an offer was made, it would have to be considered, adding it might be naive to think Hangeland would reject a lucrative move to stay at the club.
"We have had absolutely no indication that Arsenal or any other club of that stature have had any interest in Brede Hangeland," said Hodgson.
"I sometimes wonder if these stories are educated guesses from people looking and seeing that William Gallas has had a fall-out with the other players, thinking Arsenal will want to get another centre-half, looking at what centre-halves are available and linking them with Arsenal Football Club.
"If a serious offer comes our way for Brede, I'm pretty sure it'll have to be considered but I would hope - and this might be a naive hope - that we could still keep him because he's got a long-term contract with us here.
"I know he's happy with us here and I know he's happy with his football. And it'd be nice to think that we could keep him with us.
"But, in the meantime, it's not something that affects our thinking in any way and hopefully it hasn't affected his either because I don't know what he reads into that type of speculation."
Unbeaten in four, Fulham face another stern test of their mettle at home to Manchester City in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday. (.....)

Strachan wants more time to judge defender Hanstveit
Celtic boss Gordon Strachan wants a longer look at on-trial left-back Erlend Hanstveit before deciding whether or not to sign him.
Brann Bergen defender Hanstveit, 27, is in the middle of a week-long stay with the Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions and would be available for free when the January transfer window opens.
Strachan will integrate the Norwegian into his travelling party for tomorrow's trip to Hibernian after being impressed with his attitude both on and off the field.
'We've had two days with Erlend,' Strachan said. 'It's been a month since he played, which is a long time, so we'd like to keep him here a bit longer and have a look.
'He'll come with us to the match at Easter Road and see what it feels like to go to a game with the group. He's mingled well with the lads and there are things we like there. But we have to investigate it a bit more.
'Would we like to extend it beyond the week? If we could, but the problem we have is that there are games to play. We were able to do more intensive things in training this week because we didn't have a game.
'But we have Villarreal in midweek, so we won't have the scope to test Erlend as much as we'd like.'
Hanstveit was also keeping tight-lipped about a potential move, saying in the Daily Record: 'I've been impressed with the club's training facilities and, of course, the stadium, where I was taken for a tour.
'The people at Celtic have been brilliant with me since I arrived.
'I don't want to say much more about the move at this stage. We will just have to wait and see.
'Training has been okay so far and I hope I'll do well during the last bit of my stay.'

Pedersen insists Blackburn will be okay
After defeat to Liverpool, Morten Gamst Pedersen is confident Blackburn can turn the corner, starting against Wigan on Saturday.
He twice came close to making the breakthrough in the first half, but goalkeeper Jose Reina was equal to both his efforts.
Pedersen said: "We did really well and had the biggest chances before they scored.
"In football sometimes things do not roll your way and the small decisions don't go your way - but we are getting closer and closer.

Pedersen insists Blackburn players behind Ince
Morten Gamst Pedersen insists Blackburn Rovers players believe in underfire manager Paul Ince.
After defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, Pedersen said: "We can't think about everything that's written, we have to think about what we're doing on the pitch.
"Everybody is different. I've had lots of managers - I had four at Tromso and three here, four with [caretaker] Tony Parkes, and every one is different.
"He's at training every day. You see what he's done in his career, he's been at big clubs and he puts those things into the team. If I'm a manager, maybe I'd like to do something this way and Incey will like to do it another way.
"Against Liverpool we had a game-plan and we followed it all the way. It didn't succeed for us but we were unlucky. If we had won, people would say 'what a turnaround'. We have to work hard and we believe we can do that next week."

HANGELAND HAPPY AT FULHAM
Fulham defender Brede Hangeland may have been linked with moves to Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks but he insists he is keeping his feet on the ground.
The centre-back, signed in January from FC Copenhagen, has marshalled a mean Fulham defence which has conceded just 12 goals in 15 Barclays Premier League games this season.
"One of my main ambitions was to play in the Premier League, and I've achieved that coming to Fulham - and I'm really happy here," Hangeland told his club's website.
"For me, it's all about doing a good job for the team - and if I do that then I'm happy.
"I'm just working hard every week to prove I'm good enough to play here, and it's nice when people think you're doing well."
Hangeland, 27, has never trained as hard as he has with Fulham in the last year.
"We've done more work in nine months here than I've ever done before, so it's good," he added.
"We work really hard - almost every day - on our shape and defending as a team.
"We do a lot of work on defending and attacking, and it's about being in the right position and keeping your shape as best we can.
"I've developed a good understanding with Aaron (Hughes) and I think we've improved every week since I joined."

HANGELAND EYES LONG-TERM STAY
Fulham defender Brede Hangeland has said he would be happy to remain at Craven Cottage for "many years".
Media reports have suggested the Norway international's displays this season could spark bids from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs.
Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has been keen to play down the rumours, while Hangeland recently stated his commitment to the London side.
The 27-year-old joined Fulham from FC Copenhagen earlier this year and sees the club as the ideal place to ensure his career blossoms.
"It has gone well for me, personally." Hangeland said.
"I am pleased with how I have progressed since I came here. It feels like I am on top of my career right now.
"I see myself at Fulham for many years. The club is the right size and has a perfect location.
"That allows us to live in a family-friendly and quiet area which is close to both the stadium and training.
"That means a tremendous amount to me."

KINNEAR ADMITS RIISE KNOCK-BACK
Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear has confirmed the club failed in a move to bring John Arne Riise back to the Premier League.
The Magpies were linked with the former Liverpool defender last month with Kinnear keen to land the Norwegian on loan.
However, following Riise's return to Roma's first-team, his agent has informed the Newcastle boss his client will be staying with the Serie A outfit until the end of the season.
Kinnear was eager to bring in the 28-year-old to St James' Park and off-load Jose Enrique, although the Spaniard arguably made one of his best outings for the club in Sunday's 3-0 success at Pompey.
Despite Newcastle's improved form of late the former Nottingham Forest manager admits that he is still keen to bring in new talent if he can trim some of his squad in the process.
"If we can get like-for-like then I'll lose one," admitted Kinnear in the Daily Mirror. "We've gone down that road already but I got a knock-back.
"John Arne Riise changed his mind, but if we'd got him in then I could have done something with Enrique.
"Riise's got back in the team at Roma and his agent has told us that he's happy to stay until the end of the season. I want them now, really."

Hangeland is going nowhere
FULHAM have told the Premier League big guns to keep their hands off Brede Hangeland.
The Norway skipper has been superb this season to help lift the Cottagers into the top half of the table.
There are fears that the likes of Arsenal will move for the giant defender in next month's transfer window.
But Fulham boss Roy Hodgson insists he is going nowhere.
He said: “We’ve got a good club here and the makings of a good team and it’s not in our interest to let players go so we’ll be trying desperately to hang on to the good players we’ve got.
“Brede is fully aware of what I, the coaching staff, and his team-mates think of him.
”He knows he’s a very respected and well-liked player in our club and team. We’d do everything in our power to keep him.“

HANGELAND HAPPY AT FULHAM
Brede Hangeland insists he is ready to stay at Fulham for the foreseeable future after being linked with a big-money switch.
The Norwegian central defender has already been linked with a move in the January transfer window after an impressive season with the revitalised Cottagers.
But Hangeland has no thoughts about moving on as Fulham rose to eighth in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.
"I can see myself staying here a long time," said Hangeland. "The first 12 months have been excellent and I wouldn't mind staying for some time to come.
"It feels as if we are building something. We definitely want to push on, improve and certainly avoid what happened last year because that was a nerve-racking experience. It's about continuing to climb the table but, on the other hand, we must stay realistic.
"We are a small club in among a lot of good teams, so the sooner we can secure the points we need to avoid relegation, the better."

Fulham boss Hodgson hopeful over keeping Bullard, Hangeland
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is determined to keep Jimmy Bullard and Brede Hangeland.
Bullard's current contract expires in 18 months' time and speculation is rife that he will move on if a new deal cannot be agreed before the end of the month.
Hangeland has impressed at the heart of Fulham's defence since arriving from FC Copenhagen a year ago and Hodgson rates him among the best operators in the Barclays Premier League.
Hodgson admits Fulham would have to consider any substantial offer they received for the pair - but the phone has not rung yet and he hopes it stays that way until the window closes on February 2.
"At the moment no-one has made any offers for the players," said the Fulham boss.
"It would be foolish to say nothing will happen to Hangeland and Bullard. All I can say is I hope nothing happens with those two. I hope they remain Fulham players.
"We have to study any propositions that come our way because every player has his price at the end of the day and you can't nail people's feet to the floor.
"All clubs have to do that (consider large bids). It is just a question of scale. Manchester United and Liverpool and Chelsea have to be aware there might certain offers they feel they cannot turn down.
"We are not looking for that offer. If it came we would view it on its merit but I am hoping in these times when there aren't so many teams with a lot of money to spend that our players will be left alone."

"The club need a defender and I hope it will be me they choose. If all goes well, I may get the opportunity to train with them all week.
"But, I travel to Scotland with an open mind."

Villa boss O'Neill: Carew not out for season
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has rubbished reports that John Carew could be out for the season with his back injury.
He told AVTV: "Some comments came out at the weekend suggesting John would be out for the rest of the season. That is not the case.
"He is making good progress at the moment, but I can't give you any specifics about what day or week he might be back.
"The treatment is going very well indeed and we hope he will be back sooner rather than later."

Fulham boss Hodgson pleased with Nevland showing
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson was pleased to give Erik Nevland a game in their FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
"When Nevland went on we showed that we have another Andy Johnson," Hodgson told fulhamfc.com. "He hasn't quite got Andy's electric pace but he has got that incredible tenacity and he's a nasty player to play against because he competes. Even though the guy against him looks bigger and stronger he'll be there trying to get his head on the ball.
"I'm disappointed he didn't score because he's a good technician and I'd of put money on him scoring the chance that he blasted over the bar."

PEDERSEN PRIMED FOR RELEGATION FIGHT
Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen is steeling himself for the fight against relegation after being rejuvenated by manager Sam Allardyce.
The Norway international, whose dramatic loss of form and confidence appeared to spiral out of control under former manager Paul Ince, is enjoying his football again.
He had endured a miserable start to the season after falling out of favour with Ince and even contemplated a future away from Ewood Park.
But since Allardyce took over when Ince was sacked last month Pedersen has played every minute of the three Barclays Premier League matches.
"When you don't play you normally think perhaps I need to leave to play first-team football," he said.
"I did not play so much at the beginning of the season. I was sitting in the stand and that was not what I wanted to do.
"Since Sam has come I have played every single minute in the Premier League, that is what I want to do.
"My game has been improving and I am happy.
"I want to fight and want to be part of a team that is going to lift themselves out of the relegation zone."
Rovers are still in trouble, in 19th place in the table, and face Newcastle at home on Saturday.
But under Allardyce, who at the weekend comes up against the club who sacked him 12 months ago, they are unbeaten and Pedersen said the former Bolton boss had made a difference.
"It was not a good feeling to go into the dressing room at Blackburn earlier this season, you just felt empty," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"It has been really good with a good manager as well. All we want is climb the table.
"In the last games we have been doing really well. There is still a long way to go but at least we have had a good start and that gives you confidence."

Villa pair Carew, Bouma on way back
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill says John Carew is edging closer to a comeback from a back injury.
“John is making progress as well which is encouraging,” he said. “You cannot put a definitive date on things like this but we are encouraged.
“He is feeling much, much better and in a week or so he has another appointment with the specialist.
“We are treating things on their merits. He has been out doing some training but he hasn’t joined in with the team.”
the news is much better for Villa’s other first-team casualty Wilfred Bouma, who is expected to be back in first-team action within five weeks.
Bouma is back in training following his broken and dislocated ankle against Odense in July.

Hull priced out of Riise market
Hull City manager Phil Brown has ruled out a move for former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise before the January transfer window closes.
Brown confirmed he did contact the Norwegian's club AS Roma about a move to the KC Stadium, but could not match the Italian side's valuation.
He told BBC Radio Humberside: "We came away from the enquiries with a 'too expensive for us' tag."
Hull will now turn their sights to two other unnamed targets.
Brown wants to bring in at least one more defender before the transfer window closes to augment his squad.
He added: "When we enquired about John Arne Riise we didn't know what the extent Andy's [Dawson] long-term or Anthony Gardner's long-term injury was going to be."

VILLA PAIR BACK IN ACTION
Aston Villa striker John Carew and defender Wilfred Bouma have started on the comeback trail after lengthy injury lay-offs.
Carew and Bouma both played 45 minutes of a behind-closed-doors friendly against Derby at the club's Bodymoor Heath training complex.
Norway international Carew has been sidelined for nearly three months with a back problem which has led to Villa using Gabriel Agbonlahor as a lone striker until the signing last week of Emile Heskey.
Bouma suffered a dislocated ankle during Villa's Intertoto Cup second-leg clash with Odense BK in late July.
Carew will be keen to make up for lost time after an unhappy spell which also saw him disciplined by Villa for attending a club in Birmingham during the early hours ahead of the UEFA Cup clash with Ajax.
He was Villa's top marksman with 13 goals last season and had seven to his credit during the current campaign before the back problem emerged. (....)

Fulham’s Nevland sees positive in being substitute
Fulham hero Erik Nevland has admitted he sees the positives of being used as a substitute although he would like to be playing as much as possible.
Nevland scored twice after coming on for Bobby Zamora in the Cottagers 3-1 victory over Portsmouth on Saturday but knows he has to be patient before he is used as a regular starter.
"If I score every time I come off the bench it's all right," said Nevland.
"I'm a football player and I want to play as much as possible, and in that perspective it's a bit disappointing.
"But we have two great strikers in Johnson and Zamora, so I have to be patient and do my job when I have to.
"I came on in a very pleasant time when Portsmouth had to score today to equalise and there was a lot of space to run in and that's what I like. Luckily I could take advantage of that.
"The two strikers have been playing well, so I don't understand why they're getting any stick. It's nice for me to get on and score when I get a chance.
"It was not that hard to get off the bench as there was space to run in. There have been a lot of games when I've come on and haven't been able to make an impact.
"I proved today that I can score at this level so I'll leave it there."

POOLS COMPLETE SWOOP FOR LANGE
League One side Hartlepool have signed Norwegian striker Rune Lange from Valerenga on a short-term contract until the end of the season.
Lange is Pools' third striker signing of the January transfer window, joining loan duo Daniel Nardiello and Liam Henderson.

Lange scored 50 goals in 72 matches for Tromso in the late 1990s and 54 goals in 108 appearances for Club Brugge after joining them from Turkish side Trabzonspor.

COTTAGERS LOOK TO TIE DOWN BREDE
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed that negotiations have begun to improve and extend the contract of defender Brede Hangeland ahead of tonight's clash with Hull.
The Norway captain has been a big success in his 14 months at Craven Cottage, helping Fulham avoid relegation last season and achieve a top-ten place this term.
Hodgson said: "We have had plans for a while to talk to him a) about an extension and b) about improving his contract. That's in hand."
Hangeland has made it clear he is currently happy to stay at Fulham but Hodgson know the 27-year-old could soon be the subject of a resolve-testing bid.
He said: "If it happens, it happens and we will deal with it the best we can but in the meantime Brede and other players who might interest other clubs are still here and we will do our best to keep them."

PEDERSEN PLANNING ROVERS STAY
Blackburn midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen has offered an indication of the impact of manager Sam Allardyce by announcing his desire to sign an extended deal with the relegation-threatened club.
Speculation suggested Pedersen faced an uncertain future at Ewood Park under former boss Paul Ince, with the Norwegian terminating contract discussions in December as he was not guaranteed first-team opportunities.
However, Ince was sacked later that month and Allardyce was named successor to the former England captain as Blackburn looked for a lift in their battle to avoid the drop.
The one-time Premier League champions remain in the bottom three, but Pedersen has played a part in 10 of Allardyce's 15 games and he has been impressed by his new boss.
When asked if he would sign a new contract should one be offered, Pedersen told Nordlys: "Of course. I am enjoying myself and Blackburn is a nice club.
"There has never been any trouble and they have always been supportive. But I haven't received a new offer, yet.
"I would like to continue to play under Sam Allardyce. He is a very good manager."
And Pedersen insists that his motivation to put pen-to-paper is based upon a desire to play football, not a possible pay rise.
Referring to contract negotiations during Ince's tenure, Pedersen added: "I said no. The contract talks were stopped.
"I ended up in the stands for four or five matches after having played regularly for several years.
"The situation was not ideal for me. The offer was good financially, but money is not everything, I want to play." (PA)

O'Neill adamant Carew has Aston Villa future
Martin O'Neill insists Aston Villa centre-forward John Carew is not for sale.
Villa manager O’Neill said: “Do I think he’s got a future here? Yes. Do I think he’s happy here? Yes.
“The crowd like him a lot and he’s responding to that. He’s F***er now than he has been for quite some time and I’m delighted with him.”
He added: “On the type of form he showed at Manchester United John can be anything he wants to be.
“Whether Villa is a spiritual home, I’m not asking. But if you want to be known as a really feared centre-forward you have to be consistently excellent."
Carew was fined before Christmas after he was spotted in a club on the morning of a UEFA Cup game.

Villa boss O'Neill demands more consistency from Carew
Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has challenged twelve-goal striker John Carew to add more consistency to his game.
O'Neill said: "It is great that John is fully fit. The back problem has cleared up. He is F***er now than he has been for quite some time and we are delighted with him.
"Has he got a future here? Yes. Is he happy here? Yes. The crowd like him a lot, he is responding to that which is great.
"When showing that type of form, John can be anything he wants to be. But, if you want to be known as a really feared centre-forward, you have got to be consistently excellent.
"John has moved from club to club and you will have to ask other people why that has been the case. While he has been here, while he has played, he has done exceptionally well.
"He can play. He is a talented player, not just a big lump of a lad. He can get the ball down and play, turn and twist people."
O'Neill added: "If John can add that high level of consistency, where you are doing the business for 80 per cent of the time, then he can play for the next five years without a problem.
"I think John feels that if he is fully ready to go, that he is an asset to your team.
"I think he accepts what I say. I think he has accepted that challenge and wants to do something about it.
"I am very pleased with him. He has come roaring back, got some goals for us, and he has been a big asset since he arrived at the club.
"He is a young man and everything is really up to him. He has had a frustrating time this season because of his back problems but when he is fine and fit, he is an absolute handful."
But O’Neill insisted: “Players are allowed to go out and enjoy themselves. But wandering up and down the street at two in the morning on a day when you may be playing is not allowed â€" and of course John would be pretty conspicuous.”

CAREW COULD KEEP VILLA SPOT
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has hinted John Carew will remain at the club for next season - after suggesting all three of his main strikers could play in the same team.
There has been speculation linking 13-goal striker Carew with a move away from Villa in the summer.
He upset O'Neill earlier in the campaign when he was spotted at a Birmingham club in the early hours ahead of a UEFA Cup clash with Ajax and was disciplined.
But Carew has been in sparkling form since his return from a back injury and O'Neill can see the Norway international, Emile Heskey and Gabriel Agbonlahor forming a potent partnership.
O'Neill said: "We've got Gabby, we've got Emile and we've got John. We look, if they stay fit, as if we have a potent threat - not only for the back end of this season, but next season and going forward.
"All three, if they can stay fit for next season, will definitely pose problems in whichever order we play - including all three of them at the same time.
"Emile did great against West Ham last weekend although he got very tired after missing the previous couple of weeks through injury.
"John is very, very strong at the moment and with Gabby coming back from injury, these three can only add to their goal tally. I am delighted with our play going forward in general."

The Norwegian striker, 31, who was pitched into action as a 20th-minute replacement for Bobby Zamora, collected a return pass from Andrew Johnson and fired home from eight yards.
The former Manchester United striker has played a minor part in Fulham's successful season as Hodgson put his faith in Johnson and Zamora.
Fulham will qualify for next season's Europa League if they can finish in seventh spot but Nevland may opt to move back to former club Viking.
Hodgson revealed the Norwegian side are desperate to sign him again but he would like him to stay.
"He was a player I got to know at Viking," said Hodgson. "He has been a Man Utd youth player. I think he spent some years there but never broke into the first team.
"He had been at Viking for a few years by the time I got back there, in fact he was in the last year of his contract.
"The club was very close to relegation when I got there, we were in the bottom two.
"He did a fantastic job but we could not hang onto him, but I always remembered the job he did for us in those six months.
"So when I came to Fulham and was desperate to get out of the situation we were in, I always remembered Erik and what had he had done and we were lucky to sign him from Groningen.
"But Andrew Johnson's arrival has pushed him back because they are similar players.
"Erik is not that tall and height and strength in this league is becoming reasonably important.
"If you don't have your fair share of six-footers in the team you suffer from set-plays. I was pleased with him today, he made the chance and took it himself. He has been an outstanding professional since he's been here.
"Viking are desperate to get him back and I'd like to keep him of course.
"That is something we will have to discuss in the coming weeks. I would be interested to hear how he sees things because he has done such a good job for us and I certainly would not want to force a decision on him that he was not happy with.
"But if he was happy to stay with us we'd be very happy to keep him."
While Hodgson ponders Nevland's future, the prospect of European football is also beginning to vex the Fulham boss. (....)

HANGELAND HAPPY AT FULHAM
Brede Hangeland has rejected claims he has turned down a new deal at Fulham and insists he is happy at the club.
The giant defender has been integral to Fulham's fortunes this season and has been linked to moves away from Craven Cottage.
"Ive never made any comments about the negotiations - and I never will," Hangeland told Fulham's official website
"So if you read something about me having said something - it's not true."
The Norway captain has reiterated he is happy at Craven Cottage as the Cottagers look to push on for a European place.
"Ive said all along I'm happy at Fulham - and I believe we can reach an agreement.
"They've said they're happy with what I've done - and I'm happy with the club.
"There's no reason to think otherwise that I'll be leaving."
Fulham face Chelsea this weekend at Stamford Bride, with Hangeland confident his side can upset their more glamorous London counterparts.
"Normally, you would say you're in for a particularly difficult game when you go to Chelsea.
"But considering our recent form I think we can go there and get something.
Hangeland is not getting too carried away with the Cottagers seventh place position at the moment and insists the team are taking the end of the season one game at a time.
"We still have a lot to play for. Although at the beginning of the season we were hoping to avoid having to play for anything at this time of year, because it might have been another relegation battle.
"But now we have a great chance of Europe. How many points do we need to get there? Who Knows?
"One of the reason's we've got this high is not looking very far forward."

Erik Huseklepp watched by Newcastle
Norwegian winger Erik Huseklepp is being watched by Newcastle United.
The Evening Chronicle says the 24-year-old, who currently stars for SK Brann, has been continually scouted by United despite the managerial changeover at St James’s Park.
Newcastle were linked with Huseklepp during the transfer window in January but a bid never got off the ground as Joe Kinnear and Dennis Wise had differences in opinion over transfer targets.
A source in Brann said today: “The transfer would not be dependent on Newcastle remaining in the Premier Division.”

MARTIN O'NEILL is ready to pay £10million for Fulham defender Brede Hangeland this summer.
The Norwegian, 27, tops Villa boss O'Neill's wish-list but he must beat competition from Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton.
Villa defender Martin Laursen has admitted defeat in his battle to beat a serious knee injury and is set to retire in the summer, leaving O'Neill with a big void to fill.
The Villa Park chief is set for talks with owner Randy Lerner to determine the size of his transfer war-chest for next season.
O'Neill said: "I've been checking out players all over the place.
"We're looking at players to try and improve the team. That is the important thing. There is a lot of competition out there though." (NOTW)

HANGELAND HAPPY AT COTTAGE
Brede Hangeland has again moved to reassure Fulham supporters that he has no plans to turn his back on the Craven Cottage club.
The 27-year-old Norway international has been an integral part of the Cottagers' success this season with his impressive displays at centre-back.
Roy Hodgson's men have gone from relegation battlers last term to the brink of Europe this season and they are currently in pole position to clinch seventh place in the table, which would see them qualify for the Europa League.
Hangeland's rock-solid form has seen him linked with a number of Premier League rivals, with Arsenal tipped to be his next destination.
Fulham are keen to secure the former FC Copenhagen man on an extended deal, and have made their intentions known with a four-year contract on the table.
The defender is eager to focus on the club's remaining Premier League games before considering the club's offer, and has revealed how supporters have been pleading with him to pledge his future to the London side.
Hangeland said: "People have said 'don't go' and I've told them I'm happy here." (PA)

ANDERSEN WELCOMES BUDGET
Mainz coach Jorn Andersen was given some welcome news upon the team's return to training on Saturday when he was told he has money to spend on squad strengthening.
The Bundesliga newcomers were welcomed back to training by almost 8,000 fans - one of the largest followings to any side at the start of pre-season training so far this year - and Andersen soon found out he was working with an ambitious club.
President Harald Strutz announced that the budget for the playing staff next season has been increased to a club-record level of 15million euros as they look to establish themselves as a top flight club after being relegated two years ago.
"It is a fantastic feeling to be president of a Bundesliga side again," said Strutz.
"I hope that we can avoid relegation together."
Andersen, who is embarking on only his second season as coach of Mainz after leading them to promotion in his first year, believes he knows how to keep them up in the Bundesliga, even though he is entering uncharted waters.
The Norwegian coach even admitted life in the top flight "could be easier" than in the second division.
"There won't be any of this hectic fighting that there was in the second division," he explained.
"We are measuring ourselves against the creme de la creme. Therefore, we will have to be more stable in defence and quicker on the attack.
"Our aim has got to be to play as a unit and we will have to work a lot and hard on that."

Pools land Fredriksen: Midfielder completes move to Victoria Park
Hartlepool have completed the signing of Norwegian midfielder Jon-Andre Fredriksen.
The 27-year-old arrives at Victoria Park from Sarpsborg and is now set to join his new team-mates on a pre-season trip to Holland.
Pools director of sport Chris Turner believes the Scandinavian ace will prove to be a good addition to his squad ahead of the 2009/10 campaign, with his versatility expected to be a useful asset.
"Jon-Andre is a very adaptable player who can operate in several positions. He can play in the centre of midfield or on the left, or even up front," Turner told the club's official website.
"I'm bringing him to the club predominantly as competition for the wide left area and I think he can offer us a good option.
"He will start the game on Wednesday against SC Cambuur so he can quickly get used to the way we play and fit in with the lads.
"He's obviously been playing regularly for a couple of months already so his fitness will be good and I know that his is a high-energy game."

NORWAY RETURN FOR LEKAJ
Sheffield Wednesday winger Rocky Lekaj has returned to his native country to join Norwegian Premier League side Sandefjord on loan.
Owls boss Brian Laws insists the move does not spell the end of Lekaj's time at Hillsborough but feels the player, who made just four senior appearances from the bench last year, needs regular first-team football at this stage of his career.
"Rocky needs games - he's dropped down here in the pecking order," said Laws in The Star.
"He's had a disappointing year and needs to go out on loan. Then we'll see what we get when he comes back."

Sheffield Wednesday winger Rocky Lekaj has returned to his native country to join Norwegian Premier League side Sandefjord on loan.

HODGSON FEARS LOSING HANGELAND
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson wants to emulate neighbours Chelsea and keep his defensive leader away from other teams - but he admits he would have to consider offers for Brede Hangeland.
Chelsea managed to keep John Terry at Stamford Bridge but there is still uncertainty over Hangeland's future at Craven Cottage as Arsenal are looking for a centre-back and Arsene Wenger is a known admirer.
Hodgson insists he would have to consider any big offer for the Norway international, even if he is desperate for him to stay at the club.
Hodgson, when asked if the situation is comparable to Terry's, said: "You could say that. You could use the same analogy with (Joleon) Lescott at Everton.
"Manchester United didn't want to lose (Cristiano) Ronaldo and they did, Liverpool didn't want to lose (Xabi) Alonso. There comes a time if you are Fulham, or even Manchester United or Chelsea, things have to be looked at in the cold light of day and you have to take things into account.
"It annoys me when fans say things like 'it's ridiculous to get him go' because to say that you have to know all the facts."
Hangeland is in the squad for the Europa League clash against FK Vetra on Thursday night, with Fulham leading 3-0 from the first leg against the Lithuanian side.
After featuring in that win Hangeland is cup-tied for the Champions League - but Hodgson is not shocked to hear the centre-back being linked with top clubs.
"It's no surprise he has been linked with clubs because really good quality centre-halves are always at a premium," he said.
"When a club like Arsenal - or Manchester City or Liverpool - when they lose a player the attention will always turn towards who the other good centre-backs are in the Premier League and who they could be looking at.
"Arsenal have done their business very quietly and they keep things to themselves. We have had no contact with Arsenal and whether there is an interest only Arsene knows. When I see him interviewed he says he has enough centre-halves and is not in the market for one. Only he knows what his true feelings are."

Man Utd hero Albiston: King has everything needed to succeed
Manchester United's Norwegian teenage striker Josh King is being tipped for big things.
Former United fullback Arthur Albiston says King has everything needed to make it as a Premiership striker.
The youngster has already made his first team debut this season and Albiston told the Manchester Evening News: "You have to be really special to make it as a player at Old Trafford and history has proved that you have to be extra special to make it through from the youth ranks as a Reds striker.
"But seeing the likes of Kiko Macheda and Danny Welbeck make an impact and get chances has given them all heart. Josh is 17 and from Norway and has typical Scandinavian attributes in that he is very level-headed.
"He is a good goalscorer and looks like a proper striker. He has good physique, two good feet and is very quick over the first 10-15 yards. He's got just about everything really."

Norwegian fan helps Hull boss Brown stay cool
Hull City boss Phil Brown has revealed how a Norwegian fan kept him grounded during the sack talk rumours before the international break.
The letter-writer pointed out Hull's overall position in their history in the league - which was unimpressive - and showed how far the club has come in recent years.
Hull manager Brown said: "Strangely enough, I got a statistic from a serial writer to me â€" a supporter from Norway. He wrote to me a few weeks back requesting some semblance of sanity from the supporters with regards to our history. Apparently, we are currently on aggregate in 56th position out of 92 league clubs on our history.
"That doesn’t put us in the Championship, it puts us in League One. With that in mind, it brought a little bit of reality to me. Whether people need to look at that or not doesn’t matter to me. What I need to look at is the league table at the end of the season and getting a third crack at this Premier League."

O'NEILL PLAYS DOWN CAREW TALK
Martin O'Neill insists Aston Villa striker John Carew remains a key part of his plans amid speculation linking him with a January move to Fenerbahce.
Carew's representatives are reported to have held talks with the Turkish club over a possible move for the Norway international.
But O'Neill has stressed Carew has a key part still to play at Villa despite struggling to reproduce his best form on a consistent basis this season.
O'Neill said of the mooted deal: "I've no idea about that at all. Absolutely not - but it's that time of year again coming up. There's nothing in it.
"I haven't spoken to John or his agent about it. He's played in Turkey before and I'm sure that won't be the only link to one of our players this season. I've not even bothered to chase it up.
"We're at a really important stage and John is very important to us. I would be pretty loathe to be losing players.
"John has been an integral part of the side, he's done very well and I want a bit of genuine competition for places, which I think I have at the moment - maybe not everywhere but in a number of areas."

PEDERSEN HINTS AT CELTIC SWITCH
Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen has hinted he would be interested in joining Celtic.
And the Norway midfielder, whose Ewood Park contract expires in the summer, has described the Hoops as "a big club" with the attraction of European football.
The 28-year-old said: "Lots of people care about the club. The fact they play regularly in Europe is a bonus.
"I have never played in the Champions League and it is something I have always dreamed of."
Blackburn have been in negotiations over extending Pedersen's contract but he has recently found himself out of the side.
He added: "I have no influence over the contract negotiations. My agent Rune Hauge takes care of all that." (PA)

Notts County chief Sven Goran Eriksson flies to Spain in bid to keep dream alive
Sven Goran Eriksson has launched a desperate bid to find fresh funds for Notts County by flying to Puerto Banus in Spain to meet Norwegian telecoms millionaire Idar Vollvik.
Eriksson is still helping owner and chairman Peter Trembling in his search for financial backers, despite last week's walk-out by Swedish coach Hans Backe and the failure of the company who recruited him to provide any backing for the club.
But Eriksson's long-term future as director of football is still in doubt and dependent on new money being invested, with Vollvik yet to decide whether to back them.
Eriksson, who is preparing for Monday's League Two clash at high-flying Bournemouth alongside caretaker boss Dave Kevan, last week declared he was 100 per cent committed to the club.
Trembling launched a management buy-out last weekend from previous owners Munto Finance after the controversial company, based in the British Virgin Islands, failed to identify their backers and were unable to provide the investment they had promised.
Trembling, who yesterday returned from New York, denies the club are in financial crisis - something Bournemouth know plenty about - but confirmed that Eriksson has met Vollvik.
'I think he was over there on Monday or Tuesday but I haven't had a chance to catch up with Sven on that,' he said.
'Funds aren't particularly short. We need investment to help us achieve what we set out to do. The sooner we get that investment then we can get on and do that, but in the meantime the funds are there to run the club day to day. That's not an issue.'
Trembling also denied reports staff had been told there was only money to keep the club going until January.
'That's absolutely not the case and people aren't giving you the true story,' said Trembling.
'It's like any business: you look at your projected income for the year and look at your costs. We've done that and got all that covered. The investment is to push us on to the next stage. Every club is looking for new players and our club is no different.'
Trembling will also reassure Football League officials this week about the company he set up last weekend, known as PEWT Ltd, to perform the management buy-out.
Trembling says that no assets will be passed from the football club, currently trading as Blenheim 1862, to PEWT, who were purely set up as to complete his management buy-out in a tax efficient way. PEWT own 90 per cent of the shares of Blenheim 1862.
The takeover of the club by Munto Finance last summer sparked a Football League investigation in September after it emerged they used businessman Russell King as a key adviser.
He is under investigation by authorities in the Channel Islands and has assets worth £1.9million frozen because, according to a Jersey court, he obtained loans 'under false or fraudulent pretences' and owes a finance company £1.3m.
Bournemouth await County still wallowing in the fall-out of their own financial crisis which saw the club docked 17 points last season and sent to the brink of being wound up.
Manager Eddie Howe has earned plaudits for hoisting Bournemouth into the top three despite a small squad and a transfer embargo.
Howe, though, is more pained by last week's 5-0 drubbing at Morecambe, their heaviest defeat for eight years.
'It was disappointing because up to then we had been watertight,' he said.
'But we mustn't over-react because our season is still going far better than expected.' Backe stepped down as County boss 17 days after he had guided them to an FA Cup second-round success against Bournemouth, and Howe said:
'He seemed a really nice guy. He was very knowledgeable about our players and the league we play in.
'But we've had caretaker managers come down here twice. (Daily Mail)
