Kamp 31/1:
Leyton Orient  v  Yeovil

New boss soon as O’s prepare for vital clash

ORIENT'S caretaker boss Kevin Nugent looks set to guide the club into their biggest game of the season when they take on fellow relegation rivals Yeovil on Saturday, writes TREVOR DAVIES.
The O's climbed out of the bottom four after Tuesday night's win at MK Dons and they can give themselves some breathing space if they follow it up with another win at the weekend.
As Nugent prepares for Saturday, the search for a successor to replace Martin Ling, who left the club 11 days ago, hots up.
The O's have a short-list for the managerial vacancy and it's believed that the first four interviews will be held today (Thursday) and an announcement is likely to be made by the time the club entertain Leeds United next Tuesday night.
The club are keeping tight-lipped about candidates and the club's chief executive Matt Porter said: "All I can say is that we're making good progress with our search for a replacement."
Lawrie Sanchez remains the bookies' favourite to take over, but his odds have lengthened during the last seven days, while Ian Holloway has been the big mover.
He was first quoted by bookies Victor Chandler as a 10-1 chance, but is now joint second favourite at 3-1.
Nugent's odds have also dramatically shortened, with the caretaker boss also 3-1 to land the job on a full-time basis.
The youth team manager did his chances no harm following Tuesday night's win at MK Dons, but insists he is only looking after the team on a temporary basis and is happy to return to youth team duties when a new manager is in place.
Ex-O's player Glenn Roeder, available after leaving Norwich, has drifted out to 5-1, while another former player, Alex Inglethorpe, is a 9-1 shot and Geraint Williams, who made a big impression at Colchester and was a spectator at MK Dons on Tuesday night, is an 11-1 bet.
It's unlikely that a new manager will be in place to wheel and deal in the January transfer window, but it seems that the O's could make another move in the loan market before the window closes.
They have already signed Jordan Spence from West Ham until the end of the season and another arrival could be imminent.
The club also have to make a decision on whether or not to extend Dean Morgan's loan spell, which is up after Saturday's game.
Former O's boss Ling, would have ended the loan spell, but two goals in the last two games may put a different complexion on things, especially as the club are thin on numbers.
Andrew Cave-Brown and Morgan both picked up knocks at MK Dons on Tuesday which may give Nugent a headache - although he will have Adam Chambers available for selection after suspension.
Meanwhile, Porter also revealed that the club would be fighting to hang on to their top players. Central defender Tamika Mkandawire and top scorer Adam Boyd have been linked with moves to Wolves and Hartlepool respectively.
But Porter insisted: "Every player has a price, but it's not our intention to weaken the squad at a difficult time by selling our better players. I would be very surprised if anyone is sold before the transfer deadline. We're looking to strengthen our squad and have a few options."
One player on his way out of Brisbane Road is defender Aiden Palmer, who has joined Dagenham & Redbridge on a month-long loan.

O's keep new boss on hold

LEYTON ORIENT abandoned naming their new manager yesterday.
The League One club were due to unveil Martin Ling’s successor at a noon Press conference.
But they called it off 90 minutes before it was due to start â€" after confirming The Sun’s exclusive story they are in talks with David Beckham’s agent about a possible buyout.
An O’s statement said: “We can confirm owner and chairman Barry Hearn is in discussions with a consortium of investors headed by Terry Byrne with regards to the future ownership of the club.”
Beckham has distanced himself from the deal.
But the prospect of new owners is believed to be the reason the club have stalled on appointing a new manager.
Ian Holloway and Lawrie Sanchez were among the favourites for the vacancy.  (The Sun)

Glovers on a winning roll: Tomlin hits late winner to sink Orient
Gavin Tomlin's last-gasp winner earned Yeovil their third successive victory with a 1-0 result at Leyton Orient.
The goal settled what had been a dour contest between two sides hovering just above the drop zone.
The visitors cold have taken the lead when Aaron Brown headed straight at Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones.
Orient rarely posed a threat although a free-kick from Charlie Daniels was saved by goalkeeper Josh Wagenaar, and a similar effort from Dean Morgan curled just over.
As injury time started, Orient raised their game and had penalty claims waved away when Daniels was upended and Wagenaar punched a cross off the head of substitute Paul Terry.
But it was Yeovil who had the crucial final say seconds later when Tomlin headed home an Andy Welsh corner in the fifth minute of injury-time.

EXCLUSIVE: Police fear violent clashes in London's perfect storm

Police fear there could be a night of violence on Tuesday because five clubs with a reputation for having troublemakers among their fans are all playing in London.
There was surprise when Cardiff's FA Cup fourth round replay at Arsenal was given the go-ahead for the same day as the visit to the capital of their rivals Swansea, who are at QPR, as well as Birmingham, at Crystal Palace, Leeds, at Leyton Orient, and Colchester's visit to Millwall.

Det er jo fullt mulig å ha et dekke over banen som hadde gjort det enklere både med tanke på snø og regn...
