Bare Fabian Deph på PFA's Team of the Year....
Ikke Becks! Klarer ikke helt å ta kåringen på alvor!!

League One Teams of the Year â€" Voted by the Players

Joe Murphy â€" Scunthorpe United
The former Republic of Ireland Under 21 international has been a rock all season for Scunthorpe as they aim to bounce straight back into the Championship. It looked as though the shot-stopper was on his way from Glanford Park after s summer of speculation but he is still the best goalkeeper in League One and is looking forward to the play-offs with the Iron.

Neal Eardley â€" Oldham Athletic
The Wales international has enjoyed another impressive season at full back as Oldham have pushed for the play-offs all season. Eardley has already made over 120 appearances for the Latics and made his debut as a 16-year-old full back in 2005.

Jack Hobbs â€" Leicester City
The 20-year-old has been such a hit at the Walkers Stadium this season that manager Nigel Pearson is reportedly trying to tie up the on-loan Liverpool star on a permanent basis. Hobbs has played over 40 games for the Foxes and been an integral part of their quest for promotion back to the Championship.

Sean O’Hanlon â€" MK Dons
This no-nonsense centre-half has been one of the main reasons behind MK Dons’ attempt to win consecutive promotions. O’Hanlon was signed by Martin Allen for £175,000 from Swindon back in 2006 and has made over 100 appearances for the Dons. The former England Under 20 international is a real powerhouse and is a centre forward’s nightmare.

Dean Lewington â€" MK Dons
Lewington was named n the League Two divisional side last year and he has achieved the same feat this year after another storming campaign. The 24-year-old is MK Dons’ longest-serving player and captain and has made over 250 appearances for the club, becoming a fans’ favourite in the process.

Fabian Delph â€" Leeds United
The 19-year-old starlet has made a huge impact with Leeds this season and broken into the England Under 21 squad after catching Stuart Pearce’s eye. Delph has already been crowned the Young Player of the Year in the Football League awards and has reportedly been attracting the attention of both Newcastle and Arsenal.

Matt Oakley â€" Leicester City
The 31-year-old midfielder has been a rock in Leicester’s engine room and helped the Foxes set a new club record unbeaten run this season. Oakley has chipped in with crucial goals and been a pivotal player in Leicester’s title charge.

Chris Taylor â€" Oldham Athletic
Joe Royle will be happy that one of his brightest young talents has signed a new contract until 2012 as Oldham look to recreate the glory days under Royle. Taylor has already reached double figures for the season from a wide role and insists he wants to stay at Boundary Park for the foreseeable future.

George Boyd â€" Peterborough United
Boyd’s career goes from strength to strength after only linking up with Posh from non-league Stevenage in January 2007 for £260,000. He was part of the League Two divisional side last year as Peterborough were promoted and is hoping to complete the same double this year as Posh look for a return to the Championship.

Rickie Lambert â€" Bristol Rovers
The powerful striker joined Bristol Rovers in 2006 from Rochdale and has bagged over half a century of goals for the Pirates in the three seasons since, including 25 league goals this term. The 27-year-old is the subject of constant speculation but gets on with the job in hand and scores on a regular basis.

Matty Fryatt â€" Leicester City
It has been a season to remember for Fryatt as his goals have helped fire Leicester to promotion and break records along the way. He became the first Leicester player to score 20 goals before Christmas in 42 years and the first in 83 years to hit hat-tricks in successive matches. His partnership with Steve Howard has proved very problematic for defenders.

Marching on together!

Jer having a laugh â€" Becks is the main man for me

Phil Hay
Inside Elland Road

BASED on the Professional Footballers Association's League One team of the year, Leeds United's standing among their peers is lower than the club would like.
With only one representative and fewer inclusions than Oldham Athletic, the subjective line-up did not speak highly of the squad from Elland Road, or the impression they have made on their division. A cynic would say it was bound to be so.
Last season, Jermaine Beckford alone among United's players was deemed worthy of a place in the PFA's team, at the end of a year in which Leeds won more League One games and accumulated more points than any club bar Swansea City and qualified for the play-off final with a 15-point penalty. Thirty-three goals this season have been insufficient to earn Beckford selection again.
Fabian Delph alone was listed in the 2008-09 League One side â€" voted for by the players themselves â€" and his deserved inclusion was scant recognition of a club whose form since Christmas has been bettered only by Peterborough United.
United imploded briefly during the fraught month of December, but 15 victories and four draws from 24 matches under manager Simon Grayson â€" named as Gary McAllister's successor on December 23 â€" have comprehensively revived a faltering season.
Leeds will complete their 46-game season at home to Northampton Town tomorrow, a last puting before the play-offs begin.
Here, Inside Elland Road acknowledges the players and moments which have drawn the club back towards Wembley Way.

Player of the season
Jermaine Beckford: Not only Leeds United's highest scorer but also the country's, and while acknowledging the contribution made by so many of United's players, it is not unreasonable to ask where the club would be without the 33 goals produced by Beckford in 39 appearances.
Twenty-six of those have come in league fixtures, equating him with League One player-of-the-year Matty Fryatt, and it is not so much the quantity of Beckford's finishes as the significance of them which stands him out from the crowd.
United have lost only one game in which he has scored â€" at Northampton Town in November â€" and 14 strikes in Grayson's tenure alone is an astonishing figure.
Fabian Delph and Robert Snodgrass have run him close but, discipline aside, there are few holes to pick in Beckford's season.
Highly commended: Fabian Delph, Robert Snodgrass.

Most improved player
Fabian Delph: The solitary Leeds player in the PFA's League One team of the year, and while other omissions were surprising, it would have been a travesty had Delph, pictured below, been excluded.
Beckford is one of several high-scoring strikers in the division but Delph has been among the pick of its midfielders throughout the term, save only for a slight dip in form after the closure of the January transfer window.
As a measure of how much the supremely talented 19-year-old has improved in the past 12 months, an England Under-21 debut and the Football League's young-player-of-the-year award are perfect gauges of his development.
Delph's appearances for Leeds last season totalled two; by the end of this year's play-offs, he is likely to have cleared 50.
Highly commended: Ben Parker, Aidan White.

Signing of the season
Richard Naylor: A competitive category in which Luciano Becchio and Robert Snodgrass deserve to be considered, but there is no question that United's term turned positively and quickly with the high-profile signing of Naylor.
His stock was that of a Championship player with Premier League and UEFA Cup experience, and tempting him to move permanently to League One â€" albeit to the club he supported as a boy â€" was a major coup.
With Naylor in place, the defence at Elland Road has improved immeasurably, showing strength where it was once fragile and displaying the organisation that Gary McAllister so badly needed. United's players speak highly of Naylor's captaincy and leadership skills, and the most telling verdict on a player's influence always comes from his own dressing room.
Leeds were a soft touch before Naylor arrived; as with Beckford, would they have reached their current league position without him?
Highly commended: Luciano Becchio, Robert Snodgrass.

Performance of the season
Stockport County (A): By no means a vintage performance or a display of total football, but it took every sliver of character in Simon Grayson's squad to force a 3-1 victory at Edgeley Park.
United's players were still catching their breath after a dire loss of form and a swift change of manager, and they were encouraged to fold by a confident Stockport side who scored after only three minutes.
What followed was a spirited fightback on a dreadful surface, completed by an outrageous finish from Fabian Delph and an equally impressive strike from Malcolm Christie, the only goal he scored for Leeds.
The result gave Grayson breathing space at a crucial time and though other matches have seen more flair and creativity, United's win over Stockport was achieved against some adversity.
Highly commended: Derby County (A), MK Dons (H).

Goal of the season
Jermaine Beckford at Carlisle United: Leeds were four minutes away from a 1-0 win at Brunton Park â€" traditionally an unwelcoming stadium for visiting teams â€" when a desperate attack from the hosts came apart on the edge of United's box.
A rampaging counter started by Luciano Becchio and continued by Beckford sent Robert Snodgrass bursting down the left wing, and his cross to the far post found Beckford sliding in to finish off a move of absolute precision.
Highly commended: Fabian Delph v Brighton (A), Luciano Becchio v Millwall (A).

Fans' display of the season
Leicester City (A): With an apology to the commendable show of support during United's Carling Cup tie at Derby County, the contingent who travelled to Leicester City last month were without compare.
The atmosphere created by one corner of the Walkers Stadium was extraordinary, and Leeds fans at their best.
Also deserving of recognition is the fractious mood seen at Hereford â€" on account of the brilliant response it generated from Grayson's players.
Highly commended: Derby County (A), Hereford United (A).

And finally, IER's Best of the Rest League One XI (based on performances against Leeds United).
The PFA's League One team of the year was unsurprisingly dominated by the division's most prominent clubs, including three players from champions Leicester City and eight from sides inside the top six.
The following is a roll-call of those who have caught the eye in fixtures against Leeds United:
* Goalkeeper: Darren Randolph (Hereford).
* Defenders: Neil Eardley (Oldham), Jack Hobbs (Leicester), Aleksander Tunchev (Leicester), Michael Rose (Stockport).
* Midfielders: Jason Puncheon (MK Dons), Matt Oakley (Leicester), Graham Kavanagh (Carlisle), George Boyd (Peterborough).
* Strikers: Mackail-Smith (Peterborough), Neil Harris (Millwall).

Becks gets my vote for United player of year

Peter Lorimer
Talking Soccer

One of the clearest signs of a positive season at any football club is a flood of claims for their player of the year award.
My personal choice at Leeds United would be Jermaine Beckford, for the simple reason that the value of his 33 goals is worth every ounce of any trophy, but I could easily make a case for three or four other individuals.
Jonathan Douglas, for example, has done a job this season that Beckford would never have been capable of. The Irishman's a naturally defensive player but taking a step from the centre of midfield to the right side of defence is not a simple transition for anyone.
I'm not suggesting that Leeds are anything like a one-man team, but it was fortunate that we were as good in attack as we were weak in defence.
The turning point for the backline was the signing of Richard Naylor â€" what a difference he's made â€" and I'm now looking at a team which is strong and potent at both ends of the field; perhaps as consistent and dangerous as any other in the league.
Player of the year awards are prestigious prizes, but it is always better to feel that the value of a team is greater than the sum of its individual parts. From back to front I can genuinely feel that this Leeds United side is ready for the play-offs.
The success of that move owes as much to Douglas' willing attitude as it does to his natural ability in the sense that he has applied himself to the right-back's role without a second thought or any complaint.
When Frazer Richardson tore a thigh muscle at Brighton, Simon Grayson had a potential problem in that area of the field and there are wingers in this league who would have punished Leeds heavily had a suitable replacement not been found.
I must also give a mention to Fabian Delph who, for my money, was at his best in the first half of this season but has been effective, lively and a pleasure to watch for most of the campaign.
We pride ourselves on young talent at Elland Road, but more satisfying than simply having kids on the books is the sight of lads like Delph â€" and, to be fair, Jonathan Howson and Ben Parker â€" claiming places in the team on merit.
It seems a long time since shirts were changing hands at Elland Road on the basis of form or lack of it.
But I go back to Beckford's goals to illustrate why he would be my player of the season, and why United's ttack was for many weeks the strongest form of defence.
In isolation, Beckford's tally of 33 goals looks outstanding, but there is another very revealing statistic in the facts and figures about Leeds United's squad.
As a result of his winning effort against Hartlepool United last Saturday, Beckford, Luciano Becchio and Robert Snodgrass have now produced 60 goals between them this season, a brilliant haul for any frontline in any division. That's what Mick Jones, Allan Clarke and I set out to achieve at the start of every season, all those years ago.
When you consider that figure, it's easy to wonder why on earth the club aren't further up League One and why we are heading for the play-offs rather than automatic promotion. But, in truth, had it not been for the superb form of some of our forwards, the damage done to Leeds in the first half of the season might have been more severe that it was.
At the times when United were struggling to keep clean sheets or close out games, the likes of Beckford provided enough goals to keep the points ticking over and to keep our league position reasonably healthy.

Jermaine Beckford has been named the PFA Fans Player of the Year for the 2008/09 season.
Beckford won the monthly award twice as did fellow Leeds player Fabian Delph.
The striker has scored 34 goals this season and will hope to help Leeds gain promotion through the League One Play Offs.

The Golden Shoe and Espadrille
The race for the greatest individual prizes in football is back!

The Golden Shoe and Espadrille are fast becoming two of the most prestigious awards in the game, with past winners including Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and Billy Sharp.
The fact is we all love goals and those who know how to find the back of the net, but who is really the best at it?
Is it the player who scores the most, or the striker that always seems to pop up and score in the important matches?
Well here at Soccer AM we think the players with the best goals-to-games ratio should be recognised, which is why every week for the remainder of the season we will be revealing who, in our opinion, are the best strikers in Europe.
The Golden Shoe takes into account all the players in the top four tiers of the English game while The Espadrille will be focusing on the top forwards from Italy's Serie A, Spain's Primera Division and of course our very own Premier League.
To qualify, players must have played in at least half of their side's matches this season and only league goals count.

The Golden Shoe
Jermaine Beckford all but secured his first ever Soccer AM Golden Shoe after netting his 27th league goal of the season in Leeds' 3-0 win against Northampton.
It was the striker's ninth goal in seven games in League One and gives him an end of season goals-to-games ratio of 0.79.
Only Fernando Torres and Cristiano Ronaldo have any chance of catching Beckford with the Premier League still in full swing; however it will take an extraordinary effort in the next couple of weeks for either of them to take top spot.
Torres will need at least seven goals from Liverpool's remaining three games, while last year's winner Ronaldo will have to hit the back of the net a minimum of ten times in United's remaining four games.

The Golden Espadrille
The Golden Shoe may be all sewn up, but with just two weeks remaining the race for the Golden Espadrille is anything but.
For the first time this season we have joint leaders as both Diego Forlan and David Villa have scored 25 goals in just 29 games this season.
Less than a month ago it appeared as though the much sort after trophy would be heading to either Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o or Valencia hitman Villa however, a late charge from Forlan has put him right back in contention.
The former Manchester United striker signalled his intent last weekend with two goals in as many games and another brace this week means he leap frogs Eto'o and joins Villa at the top.
Once again La Liga dominates the table with no less than six representatives in the top ten, including arguably the best player in the world; Lionel Messi.
The Argentina superstar scored twice as Barcelona thrashed title rivals Real Madrid 6-2 in one of the games of the season. Thierry Henry also bagged two in El Clasico and he enters the fray at the expense of Almeria's Alvaro Negredo.
Over in Italy and Diego Milito scored a hat-trick as Genoa won the 100th Derby della Lanterna, beating Sampdoria 3-1. It means he comes storming back into the top ten after a week away and now finds himself just 0.07 off Lionel Messi who is in fourth.
Meanwhile, Fernando Torres continues to fly the flag for the Premier League, but only just. The Spain striker remains in tenth despite missing Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Newcastle through injury.

TRIBUTE TO ONE OF OUR FANS' PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
We all agree that Jermaine Beckford is a worthy winner

Jermaine Beckford is this season’s League One PFA Fans’ Player of the Year winner and will be hoping to cap off a sensational season by guiding Leeds to promotion.
With 33 goals to his name already, Beckford has terrorised defences all season and has been voted as Fans’ Player of the month on three separate occasions, such is his rapport with the Elland Road faithful.
The 25-year-old, who joined Leeds from Wealdstone for an initial fee of just £45,000 back in 2006, which is arguably the best bit of business the club has ever done.
The silky striker is a man who likes to let his feet do the talking and interviews with Beckford are rare but Leeds boss Simon Grayson is only interested in his abilities on the pitch.
In fact, if Beckford is fired up or aggrieved then Grayson insists it enhances his level of performance.
"He is the sort of character who needs to play with an edge to his game," said Grayson. "If he is too relaxed, he can be anonymous.
"But when he's fired up for things, then he is a major threat. Players do need that edge to their game, and he has certainly got that. He can drive you mad sometimes but you put up with that because of the goals he scores."
Supporters most definitely have looked at his prowess in front of goal and that is why Beckford is a worthy recipient of the PFA League One Fans’ Player of the Year Award in 2009.
