DF: "Bogle had a problem with his hip flexor. A bit concerned. Unsure if he will be available for Milan. Have to stay aware in the full-back positions. Need quality there. Outstanding last season and good pre-season so far. Will miss more training." #lufc

Interessant pressser.

Adonis Storr:

It's clear from yesterday that #LUFC's squad depth is lacking as well as some quality in their starting 11.

"We are in a good position for the Premier League in the goalkeeper position. Also in the centre of the park we have good options." Daniel Farke told LUTV yesterday.

"But it was also obvious we need to do something in the offence - there is also no doubt about this.. we have lost one of our main threats with Manor Solomon and didn't have many additions so far (up front)"

Defence was also a concern for Farke: "..and also in the full back position - if we have an injury like we have to Jayden Bogle it's also not that easy".

United have been linked in the forward line with Bilal el Khannouss from Leicester City - the 21-year-old reportedly has a contract release clause in the region of £25m.

Fulham's Rodrigo Muniz is still someone Leeds would like while the London club don't want to sell. A £32m total package was rejected and Newcastle have inquired about him in the context of Liverpool bidding for Alexander Isak.

The Isak transfer saga has threatened to inflate the price of strikers this summer with Newcastle wanting at least £150m for the player - although Liverpool seem to have bottled the bid by offering £10m less than the informal bid they made last month.

But uncertainty around Isak has bolstered clubs who have strikers Newcastle may want. Should Newcastle receive £150m, you would have thought Muniz's price tag will sky rocket, as they wait to see if Newcastle will spend the Isak money or look to replace him before his transfer could be made.

There are other targets for Leeds, including  Manor Solomon, while #LUFC enquired about Christantus Uche, a 22-year-old midfielder with a release clause of around £22m.

While in the full back position Lugano's Maria Zanotti - an Italian right back with an £8.7m price tag - is the target per reports from the continent.

And there are outgoings too: Werder Bremen want Leeds' Isaac Schmidt on loan; while Mateo Joseph's transfer request has left his future in doubt and Patrick Bamford has been told he is not in Farke's plans.

"There is still lots of work to do, I can't promise that everything will be there in time for the first game day, because these players (transfer targets) will also need a few training sessions with us in order to be ready." Farke said after yesterday's friendly against Villarreal at Elland Road.

"I'd prefer before the first game but really latest (we will bring in the players we need) by the first international break and be really ready and competitive for the Premier League."

Beyond the most basic of positives - minutes in the legs - Farke was pleased that Leeds controlled parts of the game. It was far from perfect, yet his squad is far from complete. His press conference was a chance to reiterate that fact. He needs quality attacking additions in what is now a 29-day window that must move Farke much closer to a team he will be happy to go with in the world's best league.

Good day
Joel Piroe
Another game, another goal. The Dutchman knows where the net is and with no new number 9 in the door yet, Piroe has put together a good case to start up top against Everton if the need arises. Lukas Nmecha has also looked sharp but Piroe's status as the club's best finisher appears to remain untouched. It helps that he came back for pre-season in such good shape too, because he will need to be if he does play significant amounts of Premier League football.

Brenden Aaronson
No one is suggesting that Aaronson is the answer to Leeds' current attacking issues - new signings are the answer. But this was a solid performance from a player who refused to be denied. He worked all afternoon, found little joy for the most part, but persevered and got himself past a defender to put in a dangerous cross. Leeds scored from it. He deserved his ovation as he came off.

Bad day

Isaac Schmidt
The Swiss international has looked lively in previous cameos for Leeds but this felt like an insight into Daniel Farke's frustrations with him as a defender. Schmidt was hearing it from Farke on the touchline in the first half, having given the ball away and struggled to contain Villarreal on that side. In the second half he was unable to stop the cross that led to the visitors' goal.
