UNITED FANS URGED TO ASSIST ENOCH

Leeds United fans are being asked to assist former Elland Road striker Enoch Showunmi in his quest for honours.

The 28-year-old scored six goals in 28 appearances for Leeds during an 18-month stay with the club before moving on to Falkirk, and now Tranmere.

It was during his time at Elland Road that Enoch embarked on a Masters In Finance course at University, having already gained a BA honours in Business before turning to professional football.

He is now closing in on the end of his current studies and is hoping Leeds United fans will spare a few moments to complete this survey to assist him with his latest dissertation.

"Part of what I'm doing is a dissertation about football fans and I chose Leeds United fans," he explained. "Leeds is a big club that has been through a lot, and it's a great club because the fan-base it has.

"The fans always turned out in huge numbers, even when Leeds were in League One, and they are one of the great things about the club. As people will see, the information is about identifying who your fans are, and the information will be of benefit to both me and Leeds.

"It only takes a couple of minutes to fill in and I hope people will take the time. I'd like to thank the Leeds fans in advance and any help would be really appreciated."

Enoch went through a dramatic 18 months at Leeds, six of which saw him sidelined, following a clot on his lung.

Enoch joined Falkirk in January 2010 before joining Tranmere the following summer, and he has been a near ever present this season, scoring 11 goals in 41 appearances, his most recent strike coming last weekend.

"I'm enjoying it," added Enoch. "I'm playing games which is what you want as a football and it's been a decent season."
Leeds United will always have a special place in my heart....and a bunch of men and women who enjoy speed and excitement.

Sunderland and Leeds striker Michael Bridges announces immediate retirement from football

Former Sunderland and Leeds striker Michael Bridges has announced his retirement from professional football with immediate effect.

The 32-year-old striker made more than 200 appearances in the Premier League during spells with the Black Cats, Leeds and Newcastle, on loan.

Bridges moved to the Newcastle Jets in 2009 and scored six goals in 15 appearances during his first season in Australia.

He became the club's first overseas-born captain at the start of the 2010-11 campaign, but has since been hampered by a knee injury.

Bridges will stay on with the A-League side as their international football and business development manager.

''After great consideration it was a difficult to decision to make,'' the former England Under-21 international said.

''However the opportunity to enter the next phase of my life is one that is too exciting not to take now whilst it is being offered.''

North Shields-born Bridges is considered one of the of the Premier League's great unfulfilled talents, as injury prevented him reaching his best.

Having made a multi-million pound move from Sunderland to Leeds in 1999, Bridges scored 19 goals for United in his first season.

However, a serious Achilles injury the following year seriously hampered his ability and he failed to score again for Leeds in four more seasons before leaving.

As well as Newcastle, he also had spells in the UK at Bolton, Carlisle, Hull

I tilfelle noen lurte.

I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. My form earned me an England call-up. Am I a £35m striker? No. I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Utrolig bra prestasjon!

LUFC Former Leeds man back in Yorkshire

Former Leeds United midfielder David Prutton has signed for Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer.

Prutton has signed for the Owls from Swindon Town who were relegated to League Two at the end of the season.

The 29 year old was released by Leeds in January 2010 after almost three years at the club, making over 70 appearances.

The former Nottingham Forest and Southampton player earned the nickname 'Jesus` during his time at Elland Road because of his long hair, sent an open letter to Leeds fans after his departure expressing his thanks.

"The friendships I have made, the memories I hold dear and the sheer pleasure of being a Leeds player will stay with me for a long time.
"Leeds United gets under your skin (as I`m sure all you avid fans know) and there will be a part of me that will always be Leeds.
"I am proud to have played a part in bridging the gap between an uncertain past and a no doubt glorious future.
"Leeds fans are loud, loyal and passionate. Make no mistake, you are the lifeblood of the club and forever will be.
"You were always fantastic to me and I hold that in my heart as I move on.
"Thanks for everything, David Prutton (aka Jesus)."

The popular midfielder joined Colchester United for the remainder of the season before signing for Swindon on a two-year deal last summer.

Prutton made over 40 appearances for the Wiltshire club last season but couldn`t help them slipping into the bottom division.

His arrival at Hillsborough will give him the chance to line up against Leeds United for the first time since his departure from Elland Road.
Leeds due to play their League One neighbours in a pre season friendly on Saturday July 23rd at Hillsborough.

QuoteEverton striker Jermaine Beckford has vowed to build on an impressive first season at Goodison Park.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Toffees from Leeds United last summer, bagged 10 goals in his debut campaign.

And Beckford feels he has improved in all areas of his game after playing League One football just a year ago.

The former Chelsea trainee is now focused on establishing himself as a regular in David Moyes' side.

He said: "As a striker you want to score in every game and that is my aim as a footballer.

"I feel like I have improved here, largely because I am playing with better players and over the course of last season I got to know their games and they got to know mine.

"Also I have not been used to playing as a one up top and that is something I have had to get used to and hopefully people have been able to see a slight improvement.

"My aim now is to come back, have a really good pre-season, get into the team straight away and stay there. If that does not happen then so be it but you can be sure I'll still be working hard in training and putting myself in the frame for a regular start.

"I am more than happy at the club and with what I have achieved so far. It was good to get into double figures in my first season and hopefully next year I can get even more."
