LUFC Bates - I will support Warnock with transfersLeeds United chairman Ken Bates says he is to support manager Neil Warnock in the transfer market.
Bates says he is ready to back his new manager and he expects him to also start ridding the club of the players he does not have in his plans for next season.
Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "You have to back your manager with whatever he wants. At the end of the day, it is the manager`s job to deliver and if he does not then he loses his job, so if you appoint a manager you have to support him.
"Some of the loan deals we had, I did not know why they were necessary. We signed some loan players in the past and we never played them.
"We had 30 professionals and that is far too many and you can`t keep them all happy, because 14 or 15 of them, less injured players, will feel that they want to play and you can`t give them a game."
Bates also spoke about the frustration of some of the players who were not featuring for the club. "Neil was telling me that Lloyd Sam spoke to him and said, 'I have only had three starts and we have won two and drawn one and then I am not in the team anymore and I don`t understand it,` continued Bates.
Warnock commented earlier this week that he was not one for signing players on loan because of a lack of commitment during their time at the club and preferred to sign players who were fully committed.
Bates agrees with Warnock and says he likes the idea of less loan players at Elland Road. "It is the manager`s decision what he wants and you have to support him and I like the idea that we have players who are committed to the club and those are the ones we have to try and sign," continued the Leeds chairman.
Leeds have brought in two players since the arrival of Warnock. Danny Webber signed last week on a short-term contract until the end of the season and Paul Robinson signed from Bolton yesterday on an initial one-month loan deal.
Leeds have already used 36 players this season in all competiton`s, with Robinson still waiting to make his debut.
Only Doncaster Rovers and Crystal Palace have used more players than Leeds this season in the championship.
