Dette var et forslag fra medlem; Bråvold på et årsmøte, forslaget vekket begeistring og ble vedtatt. Deler av kontigentene våre har finansiert bøtten og overleveringen var et stolt øyeblikk å værer med på nå i helgen
Talen til formannen;
THE VIKINGS HAND OVER THE SILVER CUP ON THE ANNUAL LEEDS UNITED X MAS PARTY FOR PLAYERS, MANAGEMENT AND MEMBER CLUBS
(kort tale holdt for forsamlingen, har blitt anmodet om å legge den ut, så her er den....)
On behalf of more then 4.000 Scandinavians, mostly Norwegians we are here to present to you an important message.
We – the Vikings used to do bad things when visiting Yorkshire a thousand years ago, so we would like to say sorry for all the bad things we did to you, and maybe especially to your women….we are sorry. ☺
Now we want to pay you back!
We are approaching the 40th anniversary of the cup thriumph. Mr Clarke`s fantastic header in the 72 Cupfinal feels like yesterday. And standing here with Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer who both played that game feels remarkable. On a personal note this was also my first game as a Leeds supporter. My dad was and still is a keen Arsenal-supporter – God give me strength – and I knew I couldnt support his team – so I ended up at 8 years old supporting Leeds United. And has done that ever since.
At our AGM this summer, one of our 4.000 members, Mr. Bråvold, came up with the brilliant idea for our Leeds United Members Club branch to donate an identical replica for the club to have on display.
The branch decided to add a small increase to the annual membership fee, a few quid for each, so that all members would be part of the contribution.
A lot of our fanbase in Scandinavia comes from Don Revie’s Super Leeds-era, and so our fans takes great pride in this contribution to the club. We hope this will help the club in keeping in touch with, and telling new generations about its proud traditions
So, hereby – the Leeds United’s Scandinavian Branch proudly donates a replica of the FA Cup throphy from 1972, as a part of paying back to all you yorkshiremen – and women – what we did to you a thousand years ago.
