Sannsynligvis ingen fordel....

Her har du helt rett.

marching on together,
derudaf forever...

1: The second-half performance is something to build on.

Leeds belatedly realised they were in a cup tie at the break and rolled the dice in the second half and had a go after a tentative waste of a first half. Leeds pressed further up the pitch and at times, it rattled Sunderland and they could not have had too many complaints if the visitors had nicked an equaliser. The urgency and tempo sadly lacking in the first half was there and Leeds, whisper it gently, even showed a touch of threat out wide at times. It was not a game to define Leeds’ players’ lives, but show some stomach for the more important battles ahead - starting with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

2: A powerhouse Rudy Austin   :o can offer Leeds something - if he is still going to be around.

The Jamaican has endured a troubled year and his future is up in the air amid interest from Brighton and Millwall. But he produced a belligerent, combative display in the second-half, showing bustling intent and energy - giving Leeds a physical edge in midfield and showing glimpses of his old self.

3: Brian Montenegro is ready for a more regular role.

Bearing in mind, he played in an attacking position on the left and not through the middle, the Paraguayan striker - on his full debut after two brief substitute appearances - put himself about and showed semblances of threat and played his part in a positive second-half. Not too many Championship sides know too much about him and his attitude and energy levels seem good - perhaps should have been brought on in the latter stages at Derby with the game and Leeds going nowhere at least his presence have taken something from a poor evening and given him experience.

4: Luke Murphy and Casper Sloth haven’t sulked.

Granted, the pair’s performances at the Stadium of Light didn’t crack any pots. But both put in a shift in the second half and improved as the game went on with both providing crosses which almost led to second-half goals. Neil Redfearn was presumably referring to the attitude of both when he labelled the attitude of those players who have out of side in recent weeks and months as exemplary.

On being questioned whether Murphy, starting his first game since the end of August, could yet play a part, Redfearn admitted that the door was open, handing Murphy the compliment of saying him and Austin ‘bossed’ proceedings in the second half. It remains to be seen what happens through January, but if Murphy is still around, he can maybe still play a role - stranger things have happened. At the very least, he would bring competition and keep people on their toes.

5: Mirco Antenucci is a class act.

If Leeds are to get out of trouble between now and May, you sense Antenucci will have something to say about it. Shows touches of class at Sunderland and would hand something to the best Championship sides. A difficult time for Leeds, but Antenucci can be counted upon in the coming weeks ahead - just needs the supporting cast around him to pitch in and provide him with the necessary ammunition. :'( >:()

A Leeds United fan has been banned from attending matches after he let off a smoke bomb “to add atmosphere” to an FA Cup tie.

Sports journalism graduate Adam Battensby smuggled the devices into the game against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on January 4, a court heard.

The 24-year-old, of Bramley, had bought the items on the internet and thought the rules surrounding them had been “relaxed”, Sunderland magistrates were told.

Prosecutor Neil Fodor said: “Police on duty within the grounds saw two males on CCTV discharging two smoke bombs. Mr Battensby was identified as one of them.

“He told officers he has bought the smoke-generating devices online three to four months ago and that he thought it would add to the atmosphere.”

The insurance salesman admitted possessing a firework at a sporting event. He was given a football banning order which prevents him from attending any Leeds or international games for the next three years.

He could be locked up for six months if he breaches the order and has to surrender his passport when England play abroad.

Have your say!

FOOTBALL hooligans launched a mass fight which saw 30 rival fans clash outside a Sunderland pub after a home game last month.

Sunderland and Leeds United fans brawled outside the Wheatsheaf pub in Monkwearmouth, after the Black Cats’ 1-0 FA Cup win over the Elland Road side at the Stadium of Light, on January 4.

Leeds supporter Benjamin Haigh, described as one of the main protagonists, appeared before Sunderland magistrates this week, where he admitted threatening behaviour and criminal damage.

The court heard that he threw punches at rival fans and lashed out at a taxi parked outside the pub.

The 32-year-old, of Station Road, Huddersfield, was walking past the pub, in Roker Avenue, when a group of Sunderland fans came out and he “saw red mist”, magistrates heard.

Prosecutor Neil Fodor said Haigh was one of the “main protagonists” during the violent incident in the street.

“Police were called to what is described as a large-scale disturbance between rival football fans,” Mr Fodor said.

“There were 30 people in the street. Some were throwing punches at others and there was shouting and swearing between two groups.

“Officers stepped in and attempted to control the fans, one of them being Mr Haigh. He got various warnings to get back, and go away and move on.

“Mr Haigh would not, and police officers stepped between the respective groups. They saw Mr Haigh with the Leeds fans group.

“He appeared to be one of the main protagonists and repeatedly lunged forward and attempted to goad others to fight.

“He then punched the rear off-side window of a taxi, causing it to shatter.”

Haigh was arrested and interviewed, telling officers he had been to the Leeds-Sunderland match and had made his way to the Wheatsheaf, when a group of Sunderland fans came out and started to throw punches.

He denied having thrown any punches himself, but changed his mind when he was shown CCTV footage of the incident. He also accepted causing damage to the taxi.

Ian Palmer, defending, said: “This is Mr Haigh’s first time before a court, at the age of 32.

“He was going to get a Metro to Newcastle to get a train back to West Yorkshire and he walked past the Wheatsheaf when a group of Sunderland fans exited the pub. It was no doubt an awful scene in a public area.

“He accepts he acted highly inappropriately. This was not related to alcohol, he’d only had a couple of pints, no more.

“He was caught up in the crowd mentality. He saw red mist during the incident and lashed out at the vehicle, causing the glass to smash, and was detained by officers. He was the only one arrested as part of this.”

Mr Palmer said Haigh is currently unemployed, having worked in retail, but is hoping to start work as a window cleaner shortly.

The Bench asked the Probation Service to prepare a pre-sentence report and Haigh will be sentenced on February 25.
