Er Leeds United endelig på gang etter å ha 4 poeng på de 2 siste kampene, og Ligacupseier tidligere i uka? Vi har ikke akkurat verdens bste tak på Forest.  Siste seier var 2-1 hjemme for 4 år siden.  November 2011 knuste vi dem 4-0 på City Ground.  Kampen i mars 2012 nevner vi ikke.

N O T T I N G H A M    T R I V I A

Nottingham er en av de største og viktigste byene i UK, med ca 800.000 innbyggere.  Byen er en av 8 core cities som gjør felles front for å fremme sine interesser i konkurranse med London.  Leeds er en annen av disse 8.
Byen er regionsenter i Nottinghamshire, og ligger sentralt plassert i UK med nærhet til M1.

Nottingham hadde på 600 tallet et navn som betydde ”place of caves”.  I 867 ble byen erobret av danske vikinger, og ble en av 5 viktige danske byer i England.  Nottingham Castle ble bygget på 1000-tallet.  Bakteppet i historiene om Robin Hood er korrekte, i det Richard Løvehjerte og Prins John hadde sine feider og konflikter før Richard erobret slottet tilbake.
Den dag i dag finnes det puber i byen som hevder å være grunnlagt allerede på 1100 tallet.

I 2007 kom Nottingham på 5. plass i UK Shopping League, plassen bak Leeds (og der bør de holde seg, også når det gjelder fotball!)

Byen er kjent for sheriffer, slottet, blonder og Robin Hood.  De fleste turistene besøker byen på grunn av dette, selv om fotballklubbene også trekker folk.

Nottingham er vertskap for den årlige Goose Fair i oktober, som er et av de største markedene i UK.  Byen har også vunnet konkurransen Britain in Bloom hele 4 ganger de siste 17 år.

Nottingham Post melder i dag at en sjåfør som ble arrestert for fyllekjøring 7. august innrømmet i retten at han hadde drukket 7 eller 8 pints Strongbow før han kjørte hjem fra puben..

Channel 4 kåret byen i 2007 som landets 4. verste å bo i.
Høsten 2015 fikk byen tilnavnet «Home of British sports»…
Foruten fotball, er ishockeylaget Nottingham Panthers populære.  Byen har også rugby og cricket.
Nottingham ble i desember 2015 utnevnt til UNESCO City of Literature

Byen har 9 vennskapsbyer,  hvorav 3 hovedsteder: Ljubljana (Slovenia), Minsk (Hviterussland) og Harare (Zimbabwe)   De 6 andre er Timisoara (Romania), Ningbo (Kina), Karlsruhe (Tyskland) og Gent (Belgia), Krasnodar (Russland) og Wrzesnia (Polen).

Grunnleggeren av AC Milan var en utvandret tekstilarbeider fra Nottingham.  Herbert Kilpin og noen kompiser ble enige om å stifte fotballklubb i 1890 for å ha noe å gjøre om kveldene.  Kilpin ble klubbens første trener og stjerne.

Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear) har uttalt at Nottingham er der bare for å fylle ut et tomrom.

Banken Capital One har hovedkvarter i Nottingham.

Nottingham Forest FC
Klubben ble stiftet allerede i 1865, og vant FA-cupen i 1898 og 1959.  Klubben har stort sett vært på nivå 2, men hadde sin storhetstid under Brian Clough mellom 1975 og 1993.  Da ble det seriegull, 2 ganger vinner av serievinnercupen og 4 ganger vinner av ligacupen.  Etter dette har klubben igjen vandret opp og ned mellom de øverste 3 divisjonene.

City Ground har vært klubbens base siden 1898.  Kapasiteten er på drøye 30.000, men er pt begrenset til 24.357. Rekorden er 49 946 mot MU 1967.  Navnet ”Forest” har ikke noe med Sherwoodskogen å gjøre, men med klubbens originale tilholdssted på Forest Recreation Ground.  Det er planer om nytt stadion med kapasitet på 50.000.  City Ground ligger 120 km fra Elland Road, og er dermed ganske enkel å komme til for våre supportere.

Forest største rival er Notts County rett over elva, men siden klubbene sjelden har vært i samme divisjon, er det Derby County som i praksis er de største rivalene.  Også Leicester og Sheffield Utd vekker ekstra følelser.  Til tross for dette var det en historisk fair play episode i ligacupkampen mellom Leicester og Forest i 2007.  Leicesterspiller Clive Clarke kollapset med hjertetrøbbel da Forest ledet 1-0, og det ble omkamp.  I omkampen lot Leicester Forests keeper få score 1-0 uten innblanding.

Flest kamper for klubben har Bob McKinlay med 692.  Grenville Morris har scoret 217 ganger for Forest.

Forest har en mini-Paris skandale de er opptatt av.  Anderlecht bestakk dommeren, og Anderlecht vant UEFA-Cup semifinalen i 1984 etter annullert Forest-mål, og feilaktig idømt Anderlechtstraffe.

Forest er eneste klubb som har vunnet Europacupen for Serievinnere flere ganger enn hjemlig serie.

City Ground og Meadow Lane (Notts County) er de to stadionene i England som ligger nærmest hverandre (224 meter).

Forest var første premiership klubb som scoret 7 mål i en seriekamp i 1995.
Forest var første klubb som hadde nett i målene.
Forest var første klubb som fikk £ 1 million for en spiller (Trevor Francis, 1979)
City Ground var første stadion som hadde klubbens navn på tribunesetene.
Jack Lester scoret etter 14 sekunder mot Norwich i 2000.

Mottok £8,5 mill fra Liverpool for Stan Collymore i 1995.

Independiente fra Argentina har samme klubbfarger som Forest som følge av at Forest donerte drakter til dem i 1907.

Masse kjente managere, spesielt etter Brian Clough virkelig tok klubben opp i det øverste sjikt.  Stuart Pearce, Dave Bassett, David Platt, Rom Atkinson, Joe Kinnear, Gary Megson, Steve McClaren.  De sistnvenvte hadde ikke spesielt med suksess, riktignok….Pearce kom tilbake, men fikk fyken i februar 2015.   Dougie Freedman overtok, men måtte gå etter et år.  Juni 2016 ble Philippe Montanier ansatt

Kampen mot Forest kan Leeds vinne, tror jeg. Jeg har bare sett Forest mot Burton (4-3) og da gjorde de flere feil i forsvar og mistet 1-0 til 1-2. Leeds kunne også tapt mot  Sheff W om motstander hadde fått første målet. Så lenge vi skaper sjanser (og det gjør vi) så er vinnersjansene gode. Jeg håper i mitt stille sinn  at Oliver Burke (Forest) blir satt på benken pga mulig salg til PL, som ryktene sier. Han er farlig god.

Leeds er på høyde med  Forest.

A recent winning streak and Forest's defensive record combine for renewed optimism as United seek their 4th away win in a row.

On Saturday, Nottingham Forest will be seeking their 3rd consecutive home win and cannot wait to get started... but wait up, has anyone told them Leeds United will be seeking their 4th straight away win? Renewed optimism surrounds Leeds fans currently, and a potential win over Forest (with other results going their way) could push United up to where we want them to be: in a play off spot.
Too optimistic? Not according to former Forest legend Kenny Burns who claims Forest's "shambolic" defending could drag them into a relegation battle. That comment may be a little premature, although Forest have leaked 10 league goals so far this season, highest in the division. If Monk plays his cards right and goes with an attacking mindset, that defensive frailty could be exploited to the benefit of United's strikers.

Leeds Player to Watch
With Garry Monk preferring to use his own signings, Pontus Jansson could make a league debut. He was a solid performer in the Luton game particularly at defending corners and crosses, an area in which the Whites defence have been lacking.
Forest Player to Watch
Pacey winger Oliver Burke is Forest's joint top scorer with 3 goals. Quoted by teammate Thomas Lam as having similar attributes to Gareth Bale, he "will be a threat to every defender in the Championship." We'll see about that.

With 19 previous matches at the City Ground drawn, I can forgive you for thinking towards a draw, but Leeds seem to prefer playing their best on the road so far this season. An away trip to the City Ground with their shaky defence is not so daunting. Leeds's in form top guns should have enough firepower to cut down the Forest. My prediction: 1-2 Leeds.

Philippe Montanier believes Leeds United are the most dangerous opposition Nottingham Forest have faced yet at the City Ground – but says he is relishing the challenge of facing Garry Monk's side.
The Reds head coach says Leeds are perfectly set up to play away from home, as they are so quick on the counter attack.
United have won their last two games, beating Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 and Luton Town 1-0 in the ELF Cup second round and will head into the game in confident mood.
But Montanier also feels that the fixture is the perfect barometer for how far Forest have progressed so far, since he took charge in the summer.
  
"It will be a tough test, because they won their last two away games. They did very well against Sheffield and against Luton in the cup. For me, they are a dangerous team to be playing at home," said Montanier.
"We need to play at the top level to beat this team, because they are strong and tough. But it is a good challenge for us.
"They are strong in defence and they have the capacity to counter attack very quickly.
"They can score goals and, for me, this is the most difficult game that we have had to play. But, if you want to climb the table, you need to play well in games like this.


Armand Traore could return to the Forest squad this weekend, says Philippe Montanier
"In the Championship there are many clubs with potential and ambition. That makes it exciting and all the players are ready for what will be a tough game."
Montanier does believe Forest are improving steadily however – and he hopes to have a few more players available before kick-off.
Britt Assombalonga could be involved after recovering from his hamstring problem – but Montanier will be cautious when it comes to how hard he will push the striker.
While Armand Traore could also be included in the squad after suffering a slight injury problem.
"Except for a great goal from Millwall, we deserved to keep a clean sheet. We are improving and we will continue to work on that," said Montanier.

"I will see about Britt. But I will not take a risk with him. He has recovered from injury; it is better. But we will see whether he can play or not.
"Armand is not very fit, because he has not had a pre-season and, after the game against Doncaster, he felt some pain. I don't want to take a risk with him, but he should be available for Saturday.
"I hope that Dexter Blackstock will get back on the (training pitch) with the rest of the squad during the international break."

Ikke særlig kostbart å utelate Bambi og jeg er fremdeles uforstående til kapteinsvalget til Monk...regner med det hele tiden har vært klart at han kom til å spille lite, for øvrig spennende lag i dag, bra Hernadez erstatter Mowatt.
