Klich has to be one of the best midfielders in the Championship. The true definition of box to box & complete midfielder. His runs into the box are class, his short & long range passing & distribution is good, & his defensive game is strong. Goals & assist too.

også meget delaktig i denne formasjonen for at den skal fungere smooth/optimalt.

MATEUSZ KLICH: WE SHOULD HAVE WON IT

MATEUSZ KLICH: WE SHOULD HAVE WON IT
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich spoke to LUTV following Friday’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Klich netted his fourth goal of the campaign, with a fine strike in the second half to secure Leeds a point.

Leeds created 25 chances in the match and Klich felt the side deserved more than a point.

“We are all disappointed because we wanted to win the game and I thought we should have won it,” said Klich.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy place to come, with it being a derby game and Sheffield Wednesday are a really good team as well.

“We played our game, but unfortunately we couldn’t score a second goal, we created a lot of chances and should have scored more than one.

“For the goal, I got a good ball from Tyler Roberts and I didn’t really think, I just tried to squeeze it in and it was nice.

“We’ve scored a lot of goals following a nice build up this season, we need to keep playing our game and if we do that we will be okay.

“This season I have had a chance and I’m trying to do my best and everything has gone okay so far.

“Every footballer can say if you are playing, being involved and scoring goals, it gives you a lot of confidence and everyone needs that, because without it, it is hard to show your skills.

“We showed against Sheffield Wednesday we are not at the top end of the table for no reason and we need to keep playing like we did on Friday and I am confident we will continue to win games.”

Bielsa admits he made big mistake over key £1.5m Leeds star

Date published: Monday 1st October 2018 12:49

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has held his hands up and admitted his first assessment of key midfielder Mateusz Klich was completely wrong.

The Poland midfielder joined the Whites in a £1.58m deal from FC Twente in the summer of 2017, but only made four Championship appearances before being loaned out during January and seen as something of a scapegoat under previous boss Thomas Christiansen.

However, after returning to Elland Road from his loan at FC Utrecht, the player has reinvented himself and made himself a key man under new boss Bielsa.

The 28-year-old has impressed in an attacking midfield role for Leeds this season; that comes after Bielsa admitted he considered playing Klich as a third centre-half.

“He is a very influential player in the team. The space that he has now inside the team is linked to what he brings to the team,” Bielsa told Leeds Live.

“Actually, it’s more his responsibility, his influence inside the team than the work that I did with him.

“He was very patient during the pre-season work and he tolerated many mistakes I have made evaluating him as a footballer.

“During the pre-season, he even played as a centre-back, so obviously was very patient with the analysis I did of him.

“Then things happened, Adam Forshaw got injured and he has improved on each game, he was playing better.”

The third centre-half role was instead handed out to Kalvin Phillips, with the Leeds-born star also impressing and our exclusive on Sunday revealing how he’d been watched by a number of Premier League scouts in recent weeks.

Klich, meanwhile, scored his fifth goal of the season as Leeds fought back to draw 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.

Leeds United: I'm in the form of my life, reveals Mateusz Klich

Updated: 10:14 Monday 01 October 2018

Mateusz Klich said he was in the form of his life but admitted Leeds United were allowing points to go begging after his brilliant strike earned a 1-1 draw in Friday’s derby at Sheffield Wednesday.

Klich claimed his fourth goal of the season by finishing off a sustained passing move with a shot from 20 yards but he voiced disappointment at full-time after Wednesday rode a second-half onslaught to emerge with a point.

Leeds produced 25 efforts on goal at Hillsborough but relied on Klich’s pinpoint strike to cancel out a first-half volley from Wednesday midfielder Adam Reach.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side had been similarly frustrated in a 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City six days earlier - their first loss of the Championship term - and they were knocked off the top of the table on Saturday by West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds travel to Hull City for another Yorkshire derby this Tuesday before hosting sixth-placed Brentford at Elland Road.

Despite their prominent league position, Bielsa’s squad are on a run of one win from five matches and Poland international Klich stressed the need for a victory at Hull.

Sheffield Wednesday 1 Leeds United 1: Blues short-lived as Whites Klich back into gear - The Final Word

“It's very important,” he said. “After the game against Birmingham, we wanted to do that. We should have won the game, especially in the second half because we were really good but it wasn't enough. We didn't score a second goal.

“We were scoring a lot of goals before and now we’re scoring one here and against Birmingham. We need to score more. You could see our faces. We weren't happy. We were disappointed because we should have won the game.”

Klich was named man of the match at Hillsborough after another performance which enhanced the reputation of a player whose Elland Road future was in doubt before Bielsa’s appointment as head coach in June.

The midfielder spent the second half of last season - his first with Leeds - on loan at Utrecht in Holland having falling out of favour under former United boss Thomas Christiansen.

Bielsa, however, has tapped into the talent of a 27-year-old who cost £1.5m from FC Twente in 2017 and Klich ranks as United’s joint top scorer alongside forward Kemar Roofe.

Asked if he had ever played better, Klich said: “I’ve never scored so many goals. After ten games of the season - four goals - it's my best start to a season and it's not only me. A lot of players have started very well. As a team we play good.

"My goal was everything. We’ve scored a lot of goals this season after nice play from (the back). I got the chance to shoot so I shot. That's what I wanted.”

Mye er skrevet i det siste om Moscowhites artikler. De er gode. :)

Men vi må ikke glemme at vi har en able source i YEP og Phil Hay også.

Her er en balansert artikkel om Klich, Christiansen, og Bielsa. :)

Phil Hay column: From outcast to Leeds United's midfield general - what made Mateusz Klich click?

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich celebrates his goal at Sheffield Wednesday last Friday.
Phil Hay Email Published: 19:00

It is easy to be clever when hindsight contradicts a manager and revisionism is at work with anyone who thinks they saw a star in Mateusz Klich last season but the baffling aspect of his exclusion under Thomas Christiansen was how little he seemed to know about it.

Footballers are never eager to articulate their own character flaws – there was one at Leeds United several years ago who expressed bafflement over the club’s decision to dispatch him on loan without admitting that he had taken liberties with his manager – but to take Klich at his word, Christiansen’s loss of confidence in him came down to his choice of footwear.

He picked the wrong boots away at Cardiff City last September and, on a soft and heavy pitch, lost his footing at the start of the attack which brought about Cardiff’s opening goal. Klich was substituted in the second half with Leeds 3-0 down and their midfield murdered. “Then he (Christiansen) stopped practically speaking to me,” Klich has since said. That was virtually that and their relationship reached the stage where irritated posts on Twitter were Klich’s way of attacking Christiansen’s team selection.

Klich contributed nothing at Cardiff – no key passes, no shots on goal, no more than lateral passing – but it is telling that when he came back to Leeds in June after a loan with Utrecht he sought out Marcelo Bielsa and asked him to explain how he wanted him to play. That Bielsa was unsure at first is besides the point. “Footballers sometimes forget to listen,” Klich told the Daily Telegraph last week. And managers, it could be argued, sometimes forget to speak.

Bielsa has obvious advantages over Christiansen, who was and is a rookie by comparison. Bielsa has knowledge gleaned from the hundreds of players who have passed through his hands and the scores of games he has prepared for and won. He also has a captive audience of Championship players who cannot pretend to be on his reputational level and have the sense not to question his authority. There were 20-odd departures from Elland Road in the summer and, no doubt, some noses put out of joint but none of those jettisoned were bold enough to publicly contest the decision of a head coach who made those calls watching them in the flesh. Somehow Bielsa was able to obliterate dead wood without making it personal.

Christiansen, of course, might have a more reasoned explanation for overlooking Klich and it is worth remembering that when Utrecht first began angling for a loan deal, Leeds were a top-six Championship team. It is also worth remembering that the club got goals from their midfield last season: seven from Gjanni Alioski, seven from Pablo Hernandez, seven from Kalvin Phillips and five from Samuel Saiz. But it is largely forgotten that when Leeds signed Klich from FC Twente, they tied up the transfer in haste when they realised that Middlesbrough were trying to talk him round. He was rated by others in this division and classed as good value at £1.5m.

Bielsa has always been a modern thinker, ahead of his time by about a quarter of a century, but his handling of Klich has been old-fashioned in the sense of a manager trusting his ability to coach rather than running straight to the transfer market. By the end of pre-season, he had worked Klich out: more of a Saiz than a Kalvin Phillips, someone in need of space to play in and a player who thrives beyond the halfway line. For a while before Bielsa, Leeds were in the habit of fashioning generic central midfielders. So heavy was the reliance on a number 10, before Christiansen and while he was head coach, that the club could rotate Klich, Phillips, Adam Forshaw, Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane without any discernible difference in the deep-lying job they took on.

Klich, now, is an emblem of individualism and not the only one either. Bielsa has his enganche in Saiz but no longer isolates him between a withdrawn midfield line and a lone centre-forward. Phillips’ specialised holding role has prevented the scenario where two people fill the same remit. And Klich’s presence is something Leeds have not seen for some time: a centre-mid who consistently attacks the opposition’s box and makes a play of getting beyond the last man. Alex Mowatt was the last reliable goalscorer Leeds had in that position. There are few since Jonny Howson who have done what Klich tries to do.

The resurgence of Klich is not unique and football is littered with players who turned off one manager but enlightened another. What he has become is a product of pure coaching; of Bielsa’s ability to engage him, figure him out and find his niche. Overnight, a £1.5m signing is made to look cheap at half the price and Bielsa repays another portion of a salary package which is worth almost twice as much. Money well spent, but only they saw this coming.
