Leeds United v Western Sydney Wanderers: LIVE BLOG
FULL TIME: Western Sydney Wanderers 1 Leeds United 2
10am BST kick-off at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney.
Wanderers managed by former German International Markus Babbel.
Thoughts
First things first let's hope Roofe and Bogusz are okay after going off injured. Bogusz looks a new star. Fine attacking football from Leeds but still squandering too many chances. A good work out. Hernandez outstanding, fine shift from Dallas too.
Pablo Hernandez reaction
"We missed a lot of chances during the game, I think we deserved the win today. I just continued to try to score a second goal.
"It's important for us to win games but what is more important now is the work so that we arrive in good condition for the first game in the league."
FULL TIME
GOOOOOOAAAAAAAL PABLO!!!!
90 + 5: Brilliant from Hernandez who has been outstanding. Picks up the ball on the right, cuts inside, makes his way into the box and finds the bottom left corner.
Last chance?
90 + 4: Leeds corner finds Bamford who heads over the bar
OFF THE BAR HERNANDEZ
90 + 2: A thumping effort from the edge of the box, rising but smashes the bar, ball then played to Harrison on the left but his cross flies across goal with Bamford unable to get there on the stretch
4 mins added time
BAMFORD DENIED AGAIN!
90: Fine attempt from the edge of the box, turns and curls a low attempt towards the bottom left corner but tipped wide by Suman.
CHANCE LEEDS
87: Lovely ball from Hernandez after a one two with Bamford that finds Oduor on the penalty spot but he slides the ball wide. Running out of time, Leeds free kick now 30 yards out - cleared
Chance Leeds
84: Hernandez running at goal and has a pop from 20 yards but over the bar. Bielsa still pacing up and down the sidelines and looking frustrated.
Leeds free-kick 30 yards out
83: Berardi fouled - Douglas curls it wide
Now Bogusz is injured
82: The Pole limps off and is replaced by Oduor.
Chance Leeds - brilliant from Dallas
81: Extremely energetic run from Dallas all the way down the right flank, lovely ball to Stevens who sends the ball wide of the far post with Bamford unable to get there
Miles over the bar
79: From Hernandez of all people, from the edge of the box after a lay off from Stevens who continues to impress
Series of subs for Wanderers
76: A very youthful line up for them now, still just the one change by Leeds - enforced - with Roofe off injured. Leeds back on the attack but Phillips drags a shot well wide.
Chance Wanderers
73: Lovely through ball for Duke who just misses the ball on the slide - that came after Leeds messed up a good chance of a counter attack through Hernandez after Wanderers lost the ball in midfield. Could go either way this.
Chance Wanderers
71: Ball played to Baccus 20 yards out and central, sends in a low attempt which Casilla pushes wide. Bielsa is pacing around and not looking too happy.
Chance Leeds
67: Stevens down the right pulls the ball back for Dallas who unleashes a strong effort that is pushed wide, Leeds chances building again. Stevens then puts a cross/shot over a couple of minutes later. Stevens looking quite bright.
HUGE CHANCE LEEDS - WHAT A SAVE
64: Ball out to Harrison on the left who sends in a beauty of a cross which finds Bamford at the far post, he hits the ball back across goal but keeper Lopar somehow reacts quick enough to get a hand on the ball and tip the effort wide, Bamford cannot believe he didn't score
Chance Leeds
63: Hernandez running at the Wanderers defence from the right, gets to the byline, squares the ball to Bamford whose effort is deflected behind for a corner
Chance Leeds
58: Douglas cross finds Hernandez who cuts inside but fires over
Bogusz now booked
56: For dragging down Duke on the counter
Injured Kemar Roofe is subbed
53: Stevens is on in his place. Stevens has gone on to the right wing with Hernandez now central.
Roofe looks injured
52: Leeds straight back on the attack and Bamford sees a shot from close range blocked but Roofe goes down under a challenge in the box. Puts his hand on his face so clearly isn't good. Now getting treatment on the sidelines. Stevens going to come on for him.
GOAL WANDERERS
48: Yeboah. Baccus with a fine through ball for Yeboah, Casilla comes out looking to get there first but Yeboah flicks the ball past him into bottom right corner
Back underway
Players back out
No changes. Nine players on Wanderers bench
HALF TIME
Leeds could and should have had five or six. Fine strike from Bogusz who looks another Leeds gem. Still only 17. Causing chaos. Couple of chances for the hosts but Leeds should be out of sight.
Two minutes added time
Late corner for the hosts but Dallas clears
ANOTHER HUGE CHANCE MISSED - BAMFORD
43: Harrison down the left, sends in a lovely low cross which finds Bamford who turns brilliantly but then blazes an effort wide from six yards. Knows he should have scored. Hernandez is then in one on one but low shot saved by the keeper's legs. Bamford looks to the skies after his miss. Wanderers then have a free kick 25 yards out which Majewski sends wide, good attempt though.
OFF THE POST ROOFE
40: Bogusz skins the Wanderers defence and gets in behind, pulls the ball back to Roofe who looks for the top right corner but the ball hits the post and bounces away. Leeds could have had five or six here.
GLORIOUS CHANCE LEEDS
39: Lovely flick from Roofe to send Harrison away and in on goal down the left, the Man City loanee tries to bend the ball inside the far post with the outside of his boot but send his effort just wide.
Even Berra getting forwards
36: Corner eventually finds Berardi in the box but his cross flies through the area and to safety. Phillips then gives the ball away on half way but Majewski smashes a wild shot over as Wanderers attack in numbers
CHANCE BOGUSZ !
33: Corner out to the young Pole who smashes one towards goal but the effort takes a deflection and goes wide, Harrison has a similar chance from the the second corner but blazes the ball over.
DOUBLE DALLAS CHANCE
32: Lovely move involving Dallas, Hernandez and Roofe, Dallas sees both his first shot and follow up attempt blocked. Wanderers on the ropes here big time.
CHANCE LEEDS
30: Bogusz sprays the ball out wide to Douglas who sends in a good cross which Bamford heads over the bar.
CHANCES LEEDS
28: Lovely move, Bogusz flick through to Bamford whose shot from close range is blocked, Roofe then squares to Bogusz who blazes over the bar. Leeds causing chaos in attack and a second goal looks likely but Wanderers a danger on the break.
OFF THE LINE WANDERERS
25: Kamau is in behind the Leeds defence, he clips the ball past Casilla at an angle but Berardi is there to clear the ball away.
CHANCE LEEDS
24: Lovely ball from Hernandez causes mayhem in the Wanderers box but the Aussies scramble clear
Bogusz is okay after that tackle
17: Back on and looks fine, best player so far. Remember he is still only SEVENTEEN. Leeds have another gem here. Douglas is also having a good game. Plenty of threat in attack. Leeds formation is pretty fluid, Bamford the lone striker but Roofe almost as a no 10, Hernandez on right, Harrison on left, Bogusz in the middle but very advanced too. Phillips the only midfielder staying back really.
HUGE CHANCE WANDERERS
13: Duke gets in behind the Leeds defence down the right, blazes a low cross through the area and Yeboah can only slide the ball wide from maybe six yards out, had to score. Aussies having a bright spell. Couple of crunching tackles and now Bogusz is down holding his back.
GOAL BOGUSZ!!!
9: A screamer from the Pole who is making quite an impression here. Harrison picks him out on the edge of the box and the teen launches the ball into the top left and looks delighted with his strike. Take a bow son. Pick that one out. Leeds bossing this. Hernandez also causing chaos.
CHANCE LEEDS
8: Lovely flicked high ball from Bogusz to Hernandez whose effort is tipped wide. Hernandez then blazes a wild effort over the bar after the corner is cleared. Bogusz already looking decent.
First attack from Leeds
4: But cross from Harrison from the left is easily gathered. Bogusz already getting forward. Bamford up tops on his own. Some neat early football from Leeds. Harrison again looking lively down the left.
10.17am: FINALLY UNDERWAY!
Western Sydney kick us off. Dallas wearing a protective headband after his cut against Manchester United.
10.15am: 3-5-2 for Western Sydney
Kick off imminent
10.12am: Teams now out
Liam Cooper leads out the Whites
10.08am: Pre match light show now
Quite the occasion this. First game back in the Bankwest Stadium for Wanderers for three years.
10.04am: Babbel
Wanderers boss Markus Babbel: "We don't want to park a bus in our box. We know this is a great side and we are going to have to defend but there is always a flip side. The game against Manchester United, the result was clear but the game wasn't clear."
10am: Sit tight
Not underway yet, Wednesday's friendly against Manchester United was around ten minutes late
9.35am: Klich - Bogusz better than me
Worth remembering this line from Mateusz Klich on fellow Pole Mateusz Bogusz back in March.
"It’s not like I can give him any advice because he’s 17 and going to probably be better than me!" said Klich.
"If he needs anything, I am here for him. I’m very curious about him because he looks like a good player.â€
9.31am: Leeds subs
No official announcements on subs for Leeds but it will be: Miazek, Oduor, Hosannah, Stevens. And possibly Forshaw.
9.30am: Bogusz starts - Forshaw misses out
Leeds United team v Western Sydney Wanderers: Casilla, Douglas, Cooper, Berardi, Dallas, Phillips, Bogusz, Hernandez, Harrison, Roofe, Bamford.

9.05am: Still waiting on team news
But Forshaw is definitely with the squad, as you would expect really though - even if he is not featuring.
8.30am: Good morning - no Forshaw?
Team news coming at 9am but it would be a surprise if Adam Forshaw featured given that the midfielder missed training yesterday.
Mateusz Bogusz would seem the most likely man to come in to the team in his absence given the squad that has travelled.
