The loan market has now re-opened and assistant manager Gus Poyet admits United are back on the hunt for new blood.
Gus confirmed on Thursday morning that moves are afoot to strengthen the squad ahead of the run-in, but the assistant boss was refusing to put a time-scale on events and wouldn't be drawn on potential targets.
"We're moving non-stop," confirmed Gus.
"It's difficult to say because its not fair with players or clubs, especially the clubs.
"I don't know how many times people say to me or Dennis 'has something happened' and then 50 minutes later it's not.
"It can happen any time. We want players who understand the situation and come here for a big, big fight.
"Until something happens we try not to think about it.
"We are looking everywhere to bring people in, to change the way we are playing, to bring something to the team, and bring competiiton.
"Today we have 15 or 16 players training so there isn't a lot of competition."
