Bra signering! [:(]

Høres ut som en bra signing...

Norwich's own Mr Versatile, Hughes has played almost every position for the Canaries - and all with the same wholehearted desire and passion. A cult hero among supporters, Hughes won praise during the second half of last season for the way he performed at right-back. However, the former Reading man prefers to play in central midfield, where he feels he can deploy his high-energy game to the best of his abilities.

Litt info om Andy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Hughes_%28footballer%29

Registrerer at han har fått en del tyn av supporterne både i Reading og Norwich, men da angivelig mye fordi han har blitt brukt out of position.

Men spennende signing.

Luv it! [:)]

Hughes sold as City miss out on targets

Norwich City last night sold midfielder Andy Hughes to crisis-torn League One side Leeds United for a fee believed to be about £250,000.
Hughes, who was signed by Nigel Worthington from Reading in July 2005 and made 69 appearances for the Canaries, has signed a two-year deal with the Yorkshire club, who were yesterday reeling after having a 15-point penalty upheld by the Football League.
The 29-year-old former Oldham and Notts County player was joined at Elland Road by former Celtic midfielder Alan Thompson, who was named as skipper after signing a one-year following his release by the Scottish champions at the end of last season.
Both players are expected to line up in the Leeds midfield in tomorrow's League One opener against Tranmere.
City boss Peter Grant confirmed that Hughes would have struggled to make his own starting line-up this season.
“Andy did exceptionally well for us last season but with Jon Otsemobor coming in it was always going to be tough for him this season,” he said. “Leeds were able to offer him a longer deal which I didn't feel able to do. Andy is a fantastic person who we're sad to lose. His quality of character shone through last season and it was not right to stand in his way.”

Sånn skal det låte:

Tresor Kandol's late winner sealed the points and triggered on-field celebrations that matched those in the sold-out away end.

And new signing Andy Hughes reckons that is a sign of the spirit that will help Leeds turn the corner. Hughes said: "The celebration huddle was just a little thing we wanted to do and it shows we are together. There are no individuals here.

"Everyone is focused because everyone is against us, or so it seems. It's a motivating factor.

"It's going to be a grind this year. I was fortunate to win promotion out of this division with Reading and I know how hard it is.

"I don't think the club can go any lower than this. It's at its lowest ebb but the players and fans were wonderful.

"The manager saw where we were going wrong and handed out a few tellings off at half-time, and put a few things right."

Hughes joined from Norwich after the summer-long transfer embargo was lifted.

And he admitted: "A lot of people may have questioned why I left Norwich to go to Leeds when I had a year left on my contract there.

"But there was just something that felt right about this club. A lot has gone wrong but I just felt it was right to give it a go and come here and fight.

"That's the sort of attitude I've been used to.

"Sometimes you can go through your career and your life comfortably but I just saw this as a challenge. People seem to be turning away from the club and things are going against them but I want to come here and stand up for a fight."

Vart litt imponert over "gutten"!

Hughes wins Whites extension
Experienced Leeds man secures third season with the club
Last updated: 17th March 2009

Hughes: One-year extension

Andy Hughes has automatically secured a one-year extension with Leeds United for next season after a clause was triggered in his contract.

The former Norwich, Reading and Notts County man triggered a clause in his deal that stipulated that if he made 18 appearances he would automatically land a third season with the club.

Hughes, who would have been out of contract this summer, is thrilled to be staying with Leeds for another season and is looking forward to helping the club win promotion from League One.

"It was in my contract when I first came if I made a certain amount of appearances in my second year there would be another year," Hughes told the club's official website.

Delighted
"I'm delighted to have reached that because this is a place I love being at and my family love the area as well. And under the new manager it's great to be involved.

"If we can start nicking wins away from home, it'll set us up for a final push towards the end of the season."

A hamstring injury has curtailed Hughes' availability of late, forcing manager Simon Grayson to field Jonathan Douglas at right-back with Frazer Richardson also sidelined, but he is back in training and will be available against Crewe.

"I'm back fit and training now," said the versatile 31-year-old. "I was in the squad on Saturday and wasn't involved, but I can't grumble about that because the boys have done well.

"The manager knows how to get success. He's done it at Blackpool, he's got good staff around, bubbly players, and the end of the season we need it."
