Leeds Res 1 - 1 Hull Res
Hull City`s reserve side drew 1-1 with Leeds United this evening as a second half equaliser rescued a point for Phil Brown`s men.
The equalising goal came from the much talked about Stuart Elliott who may have used the fixture to seal a move away from the club although he will have been hoping that his strike was enough to show the watching City manager he does have a part to play in the remaining Coca-Cola Championship campaign.
Elliott`s goal for the Tigers came nine minutes after the half-time interval and cancelled out Tom Elliott`s first-half opener for Leeds which came from a Jonny Howson corner kick. Despite Leeds Reserves dominating the first forty-five minutes, Elliott`s neat finish earned the City side, who sit second in the Pontin`s League table, a draw against what finished as a ten man Leeds side who sit near the bottom of the league.
Elliott had been linked with a move away from the club earlier this morning but having turned down the opportunity to end his Hull City exile by rejecting an approach from an unnamed League 1 side, it appears the Northern Irish winger will remain and fight for his place and a new contract, which expires in the summer. If no deal is forthcoming from Phil Brown or the City Chairman Paul Duffen, Elliott will leave in the summer when his contract runs out.
With Stuart Elliott battling for a left wing spot against the favoured Bryan Hughes, the winger will face even more competition with the former Danish international Henrik Pedersen nearing a return to match action with him expected to feature in next week`s reserve game against Lincoln City. Elliott may find himself overlooked altogether for the match or moved into a striking role which he has little chance of claiming in the first-team with the likes of Folan and Campbell certainties to feature ahead of the natural winger.
